Mr. John's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
This is not only the best steakhouse in Nola it’s the best steak I’ve ever had! Filet cooked perfectly with lump crabmeat. Sides are awesome. Cheesecake amazing and bread pudding out of this world! The service is friendly and on top of it! I can’t wait to go back! And side note the Saints offensive line was there enjoying a casual meal watching football on tv! All super nice guys- so technically- yes we had dinner with the Saints! ;)
Mr. John's could not have been more of a disappointment. We were rushed from the moment we were seated until the moment we left. I even told our waiter that I felt like he was rushing us and he said, "our steaks have to have time to rest." Um. OK. Who Dat shrimp were bland as can be. Pretty sure my salad had zero dressing. My "well rested" filet had no seasoning whatsoever. It was so loud even the waiters had to shout at you. With so many great restaurants in New Orleans, I could never recommend wasting your time and money here.
Repeat visit. Outstanding steak, done "New Orleans style." I requested "overdone Lyonnaise potatoes," which were done perfectly, with slight darkening of the potatoes and onions.
Appetizers were similarly terrific.
Service was attentive and friendly, without being intrusive.
Nice restaurant with very efficient service. We tried steak and fish and both dishes were cooked just right. Steak was perfectly pink inside, but not raw. My only negative comment would be an excessive use of pepper by the chef. Other than that we have had a terrific time.
The dining areas were very loud and the servers had a hard time hearing. The service for my husband and myself was disappointing as we observed another couple getting much more attention than we did from other staff. The Caesar salad hardly had any dressing and was mostly made from the leafy green part of the romain lettuce and lacked crunch. They completely missed our a la carte order of broccoli. We saw that larger groups also
Received stellar service that wewe expected for the reputation of this steakhouse.
Our food and service were absolutely amazing! So glad we chose to eat here on our trip to NOLA. They made our 10 year anniversary so special! The presentation and taste of our cowboy ribeye was phenomenal! The crab cake was all crab no filler and honestly the best we have ever had!!
Another great meal at Mr. John's. Since I was with teenagers the favorites were the onion rings and dessert. Best cheesecake I have ever had. It got quite load the later the evening went and our waiter seemed less than enthusiastic but all around a good meal for all.
Shrimp amazing as always. Ladies enjoyed their filet, rib eye on point per usual. Waiters were hilarious and entertained my relatives.
Did bring out two mac n cheese instead of the potatoes au gratin I had ordered but my mom ate the mac before I could tell the staff so worse things could happen. Otherwise perfect evening.
