Mr. B's Bistro
Everything was delicious! From the salads (wedge and house), to the entrees (shrimp & grits, filet with truffle sauce), to the dessert (pecan pie & coffee), the food was phenomenal! The service, not quite as good. The quality of the food outweighed the service, hence the 5 stars. We booked on Open Table a few days in advance and walked right in to our table. Worth a trip if you are in New Orleans.
Mr. B’s feels upscale but without the pretension. Good New Orleans food and a great vibe. The food took a little longer than expected, but it was worth it. Only real complaint I would make is they asked if there was a special occasion, and two of our friends were celebrating their birthdays. At the end of our dinner, they asked if we would like dessert, and we declined. They brought dessert anyway—one for each of our friends celebrating birthdays. However, they comped one dessert but not the other. It wasn’t a big deal but it was annoying that they’d charge us, even though we declined the dessert initially. But overall, great place.
Birthday dinner. Great evening.
Enjoyed. Service was excellent for such a busy day. LSU Vs Florida. Geaux Tigers
I have been going to Mr. B's for years and always look forward to the Gumbo and their burger. This trip the gumbo was good as always but the burger was awful. I ordered it medium rare as always and had to send the first one back because it was way overcooked. the second one came out burned on the bottom and well done. I ate as much as I could but it was dry and hard to swallow. I didn't want to send it back again because my friends were almost finished eating. Such a disappointment!!! should I try again?
enjoyed the grilled fish of the day, asparagus and red potatoes
It was well prepared, enthusiastically served, and at the right temperature. Delicious.
Old and established restaurant that is holding it own.
Excellent food and service second to none. Obviously a Brennan restaurant. Had lamb shank and it was perfect. Crab cake and jumbo scallops appetizers were very good.
Always efficient and helpful service, fab food and lovely cocktails!
Food was delicious, as usual. Crab cake, Gumbo Ya Ya and salad were outstanding. Service was excellent. Never disappointed at this restaurant.
Food and service (Clarence!) were great. Seafood gumbo and pasta jambalaya was delicious!
The food was very good but overpriced for what it was ....shrimp and grits. Our waiter was stuffy and a bit condescending
Probably won’t be back.
Meal was fine, but wait staff kept coming by to pick-up the check before we were finished. Very annoying and unprofessional, guess they are only interested in turning tables. Least favorite dining experience in NOLA!
Best food in NOLA!! I have eaten there many times and every meal is outstanding outstanding
Delicious food, awesome service, beautiful ambiance - highly recommend! Only disappointment - the crème brûlée was fired, best guess, hours before it was served. I don’t think that after a fantastic meal that the dessert should be an after thought. HOWEVER, the meal and service overall was fantastic - please go!
There are few experiences like dinner at Mr. B’s. It has become my favorite restaurant in over 20 years of traveling to New Orleans, and I can’t wait to return.
Birthday dinner was excellent. We started with the Duck Springrolls, had Gumbo YaYa & Seafood Gumbo, for dinner we had BBQ Shrimp & Bacon wrapped Shrimp & Grits. Alllll so so yummy! Can’t wait to go back
The food was excellent. The drinks were superb. The service was amazing.
We always start our stay in New Orleans with dinner at Mr. B’s because it’s always good, except last Sunday. They must have had an extra busy night because the food, service and ambiance were all significantly less than normal. We were seated in a small room but the noise level was off the charts - couldn’t hear each other without yelling. The bacon on the shrimp in the grits was burned and crunchy - usually it’s done perfectly and moist. The shrimp were tough because they were overcooked. The other meals at our table were about the same - off quality. We did get an apology from the Manager but beware of weekends when there is a game or major activity in town. We’ve never experienced the noise level that we did last week- avoid the small room off the kitchen.
Food was over cooked. Shrimps and pork chop were dry and hard.
Jazz Brunch at Mr. B’s is one of my all time favorites. All the staff was on point except for our main waitress. She seemed disinterested. This is normally not the case at Mr. B’s. The jazz trio is always fun. The food was awesome. The desserts orgasmic. And Lordy, the milk punch! Highly recommend.
Excellent New Orleans fare. Especially impressed with the grits. Great ambiance with the jazz band in the background.
Brett was our server with Larry making our delicious cocktails. Excellent service.
BBQ shrimp were delicious!. Overall great evening 👍
Food was awesome and staff was friendly and professional.
Outstanding food, service, and setting. Definitely will be back soon!
Birthday experience was excellent!
My birthday dinner at Mr Bs did not disappoint. I hadn’t been here in over 5 years so was a bit concerned my expectations would not be in line with the experience. I should not have been worried.
Food was as good as I remembered. I’m a big bbq shrimp fan. Drinks were good. Comp dessert wonderful. Service was exceptional. I remember Otis as being exceptionally wonderful. Can’t wait to return.
We have been going to Mr B's since the 1980's. It is our go to restaurant in New Orleans. We love it and the food is always to die for.
Everything was great, food & service. Truffle fries are the best anywhere.
Always a great spot and the bbq shrimp is outstanding.
Birthday. Baloons were at the table. Service was great. Food was excellent
Loved it. Food was excellent. Short rib was the best we’ve ever had. BBQ shrimp was as good as everyone says. The desserts were totally worth the extra money AND calories! Service was impeccable with many servers helping out with wine and meals. It can be loud, but since we had a group of 6, and we can get a tad loud ourselves, it was wonderful. One of the best spots in New Orleans.
The previous night we dined at Tommy’s Cuisine and it was unbearably noisy and food was disappointing. We were so relieved that your service, food, ambiance were excellent and most of all noise level was bearable and you could have a conversation without straining our vocal chords. We will definitely be back!
We have had wonderful dinning experience. Food and service was excellent. I highly recommend Mr. B’s to anyone visiting NOLA.
Great food in old school setting
Wonderful service and food.
My third visit over five years. Always a great experience. Traditional and local dinner and dessert choices. Wait staff is extremely attentive and doesn't miss a beat. Have had good luck with and without reservations, but recommend having a reservation. As a tourist, I'm pretty casual in the warm months, but even then, you see lots of people dressed up. So, wide range of attire is appropriate. Take an appetite and plan on a good time. October 2019.
Always near-perfect (there is no perfection in this life!) service, food, and ambiance when we dine at Mr. B’s, thus making today’s experience not an exception. Thanks, again, gang.
The BBQ Shrimp...enough said! Well, the service is always top notch which pads the way for the incredible food comma headed your way. This is truly one of my favorite restaurants in NOLA!
Wonderful place to eat in New Orleans!! One of our favorites!! Great food, service and atmosphere!! Highly recommend!!
