Always reliable fish dishes perfectly done Drinks and appetizers good and not over priced like other local fish places
Food and service was exceptional
They didn't have any pomegranate seeds for my salad and inattentive service.
I get their octopus salad and cheeseburger all the time and it is always good. The octopus salad is the best of all the Greek restaurants around as are the smashed fries.
Great food. Service was spotty. We waited a long time at the bar for a drink- it was early on a Friday (6p) but make sure someone is at the bar. Had meatballs (red sauce) and the spicy feta dip- very good. Had two burgers, the mushroom risotto and the lemon chicken which my daughter said - best ever.
Food was excellent.
Only complaint felt like a freezer when people entered restaurant and door was open.
Consider adding extra door to entrance way
Great food and great service
Food is ok. Service not so much. Took forever to get drinks. Took forever to go from entrees.I’d still be there waiting for coffee refill after asking four times. Finally gave up and went to Starbucks on the way home.
Used to be a favorite spot. What’s happening? Food and service were poor. Have been here on two previous Valentine’s Day dinners. Very disappointing....
The restaurant was very cold and when we asked the manager about it he was rude. The waitress was sympathetic but nothing was done . On leaving (after eating wrapped in scarves) we asked for the manager. We stated that it was cold and all he could do was shrug his shoulders and say its cold . It was Valentine’s Day dinner and a comp should have been offered . No more MP taverna and we live close in the town.
The food was good...however the restaurant was very cold...a few people were sitting and eating with coats on, we had to ask to move seats but still the restaurant was not comfortable at all temperature wise. I had been to this restaurant before and it was not like that at all.
No heat in the restaurant. We and the other guests complained but they claimed the door opening and closing was the problem. We all sat with our winter jackets on us so couldn’t really enjoy the experience.
Overall I was pretty disappointed. It was a cold evening and our table was near the front door. My wife and I were freezing the entire time. We both ordered drinks and they were very slow to bring them. We placed our food order and the waiter came back to the table 30 minutes later to apologize and let us know he lost our order. By the time we did get our food we were both annoyed.
Extremely poor service. Seemed to be no waitstaff other than bussers and runners. The maitre’d who seated us also took our drink order (which took a while, only 1 bartender) and our food order as well. The restaurant was lit extremely bright , like a counter service restaurant which didnt lend itself to an intimate ambient experience. The restaurant also must have had the heat turned off. Multiple tables actually left before ordering and the other tables around us were all wearing jackets while eating. Brought to the attention to our waiter/maitre’d and he responded with “oh its cold from people opening the front door” not an excuse but also clearly not the reason why the restaurant was freezing. One of my friends at our table received the wrong entree and had to wait for the right food to be cooked. When our appetizers were brought out they were delivered to the table next to us. The very kindly passed our appetizers over to us . I used to frequent the location in brooklyn and always had a great experience but i will sadly not be returning.
The food is always good, and service attentive. One of my neighbourhood favourites for lunch.
We stopped coming here a few years ago due to poor service. But hearing there was new management we decided to give it a try: and glad we did! Food was perfect, and while prices are a bit higher than previously it is well worth it.
Food was very good as usual. The restaurant was cold, every time people came or left there was a cold draft. Service seemed rushed, even though there were empty tables so no apparent need to turn our booth over.
Have been there many times; this was the first time the experience was disappointing. The food was just OK but the service was inconsistent, and for the quantity and quality of the food, the cost was higher than it should have been.
Even after this experience, had plans to return, with a group of 8 for a Monday evening. Made a reservation about 3 weeks prior thru opentable,AND spoke to someone at the restaurant to change the number of attendees. Reservation was confirmed by opentable AND an employee of the restaurant. How puzzling to receive an email the day before, cancelling my opentable reservation! And under my list of reservations on my opentable app, the reservation had disappeared. I called the restaurant several times on Sunday, no answer. I called MANY times again Monday, the day of my dinner, no answer. Passed by the restaurant at 3:00 that afternoon, dark and pile of mail in the door. Mind you, info on their website lists Monday, open at 12 noon. Finally at 4:45, called another of their restaurants, detailed my dilemma. Was told (by an employee, direct info from the owner) that MP Taverna was closed on Monday’s and Tuesday’s. I can somewhat understand someone “forgetting” to inform opentable of hours, and perhaps even correcting their website (although that does not speak well of the organization), but for someone who works there to accept a reservation that cannot be honored, is unacceptable. And the way I found out , thru an email from opentable, with no way to contact the restaurant until days after the reservation, is VERY unprofessional.
So diners beware!
Great food! Good service! A little chilly in the restaurant, and the ambiance might have been improved with candles on the table for the wintry dinner we shared at Taverna. All in all, a good dining experience.
Was able to make reservation same day for party of 8 for early seating before movie. Table was ready by front window. Due to cold weather it was a little drafty. We asked for different table but could not be accommodated due to other reservations. Did not ruin the dinner. Service was excellent and friendly. Attentive but not rushed. Have dined there before and will go back again. Food is fresh, everyone very pleased with appetizers and entrees chosen. A great spot in Roslyn!
ordered lamb burger med rare. received overcooked two times.
Everything fine and done well
Very good food and service.
We had a wonderful dinner. Every entree was delicious and the service was great. Georgio, our waiter, was helpful and attentive. A lovely evening all in all.
I have been to this restaurant many times. I liked when it first opened as an alternative to other pricey scene Greek restaurants nearby. Summer their rooftop is really nice to sit out on. However prices have gone up and food and service have gone down.
This past Saturday we went for dinner before a movie across the street which is very convenient and have done many times. I have had problems before with their burning their whole grilled fish which when properly grilled can be amazing. I specifically told this to the waiter when I ordered and ask them to fillet it. The fish skin was burned and fish was dry as a result. There were many bones in the fish. The brownie desert sounded good. It came out steamy hot and hard to eat. This experience is unfortunate as we like a low key option locally and love Greek food. We were very disappointed and will not return unless they get their act together! We have spoken to a manager in the past but it seems that nothing has changed! Maybe this review will!
The service was excellent and best artichokes I have ever eater! Have recommended it to friends and family and am looking forward to returning there for a meal! Special lunch was outstanding value.
We were looking for a place to have dinner in the area and I had been to MP Taverna previously and was happy to go there again. Went with my husband and 3 y.o. son and we all enjoyed the food (the octopus meze is fantastic). Our waiter (Georgio I believe was his name) was so sweet and very patient with my son and was great at giving us our space but still checked in on us.
I like to sit at the bar but the restaurant definitely needs more bartenders ! When we there, there was only one person working at the bar and she had to do the entire restaurant in addition to the bar.
They need to update there menu and quality of food
Ordered the Dorado fish and it was the smallest piece of fish I’ve ever received in a restaurant.
Server was unfriendly and we felt completely ignored.
The meal started out well, and the food was good. Unfortunately, the restaurant became busy when we were ready to order coffee and dessert. After waiting a 1/2 hour to order, we gave up and just asked for the check. Sad that a pleasant meal was spoiled by lack of attention at the end.
The waitress forgot we existed. We had to keep calling her attention to say we’ve been waiting a very long time for our food
The food is always excellent as is the service. The bar is one of the best on the North Shore.
Liquor value was poor value. My guest and I ordered scotch and paid $16. It was barely 4 sips. I mentioned it to the waiter and asked that he tell maitre d’. The response was that it was a measured pour. Food was good but it was unfortunate that they were not communicative. I don't mind paying $16 for a drink but give value.
Eaten here a few times. Food was not as good as prior times. Had one of the specials. Ok, but nothing to rave about. Service was well above par; attentive and friendly waitstaff. Will go back.
The mediterranean dips and brussel sprouts are excellent. branzino & spinach also quite good. The service was inattentive for a quiet night--it took forever to track the waiter down for our check. Was shocked at the price of a cup of mint tea--$5.00.
On a Sunday night for dinner, the service was very poor even though there were not many diners. They brought us the entrees immediately, before the wine and appetizers. That made me feel they were “pre-cooked” which was confirmed after we sent them back and ate them later. The meatballs appetizers were “old.” They confused what we ordered. Many apologies from the waitress, but continued mistake after mistake. Will not be retuning. There are much better restaurants in the area.
Great food & service.
loved! honored our reservations. portions nice size. everything was delicious. service was good. would definitely go back soon.
