MP Taverna - Irvington
MP Taverna’s accessible menu brings Psilakis’ Greek fare into the American culinary lexicon and is another step towards the chef’s goal of putting Greek cuisine on the culinary main stage. “The memories I have of cooking with my family are the inspiration for my restaurants, and I hope my guests create their own memories through their dining experiences at MP Taverna,” says Chef Michael Psilakis. “I want MP Taverna to be a destination for more than just a celebratory meal; a place that conjures the familiarity of your dining room table at home.”
Dinner: Sunday–Thursday, 5:00pm–10:00pm
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday: 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Very attentive service.
A little expensive for lunch
Went on a Saturday very very busy food was outstanding though we had to ask them to try and hurry the food as we were going to the Blaze and time was getting tight. They were out of a few specials by 7:30.
Definitely lively and a bit noisy not so loud that you couldn't hear yourself talk
Overall ambience and service very good. We shared 6 dishes ( 2 apps one main and one side)
Scallop App- innovative preparation and delicious
Bronzino- perfectly prepared
Lamb shank- almost sent it back...every bite was dry in the middle-most deposited in the napkins...
Greek Paella- nice idea but it doesn't really work...Spanish paella is much better...
Grilled Broccoli- best broc ever!
$25 corkage fee is not unreasonable but it would be better if they could provide better quality wine glasses...
Thus restaurant is located out of New York City and worth the trip
All food is fine with great attention to detail
Will be back again
We all had delicious chicken souvlaki who came with crispy seeet potato fries.
Service was attentive and friendly.
Love our waitress Ella ;)
Nice time good food
While the food is good, the seating was designed by someone who last worked for the CIA at their dark sites. I had eaten there previously, sitting at a table with straight back chairs that were very uncomfortable. This time I asked for a booth. The seating is cramped, the back of the seating is again at a right angle and uncomfortable. I will not return.
The food was delicious but took about an hour to come.
The place is nice enough. The food was good enough. The service was pleasant enough. I would go back but I wouldn't hurry back or drive out of my way to go back. It is a reasonable option to consider if you want to eat in that area.
Everything was perfect. Crab cakes were superb, meatballs were flavorful and perfect. Loved my dumplings with lamb sausage. Gemelli pasta was delicious in its wine sauce. Dessert fantastic!
Food was good. However, even after asking our waitress to please not repeat what happened our prior visit-Main dish coming out right after appetizers, and being assured that would not happen this time.....one server cleared our appetizer plates as we were finishing our last bite and the waitress was right behind with our main dishes! Do not order Main dish until done with appetizers!
Had high expectations of this place after reading the article in Westchester Magazine. The food was great but the overall experience was lacking something that I can't put my finger on. Would I go back? No only because it wont be a place that will jump back from memory where I would be " oh, let's go here!"
the fish was excellent- swordfish and was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were excellent too. The eggplant dip was different and just OK.
Generally, I’m a big fan of NP Taverna. On this night, I was disappointed with poor service. My friend and I ordered a simple dish of vegetable souvlaki. It’s supposed to be served with tsatziki. The waiter brought it out without the tsatziki. When we told the waiter it was missing, it took almost half way through the meal to get it. Then I asked for a side salad with dressing on the side instead of smashed potatoes. The waiter brought the salad drenched in dressing.
I hope this was just an unusual occurrence. Perhaps a new waiter.
The hostess tried to ensure my friend and I were satisfied in the end. I would still recommend MP to others.
one of the only places where you can get a lamb burger--and it's good!
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Westchester-the food is consistently good and presented in a creative manner. They take the time to accommodate dietary issues and I always go home happy.
I do recommend this restaurant to my friends and I've visited the NYC venues when I have a chance!
We have eaten here many times and it is always excellent. This was no exception, food and service were first class. One of our favorite restaurants. Not a fussy place, just solid food and service.
WE (Four Newyorkers) dined here after a visiting Lyndhurst. Beautiful space close by the Historic House. Nice Greek/American menu. Excellent mezze, seafood entrees and desserts. a most pleasant experience.
All was overall good, but our fish didn’t taste good at all, we believe it was undercooked or not so fresh.
good food and presentation
friendly excellent service
Always a good meal ... Bronzino was delicious! Enjoyed rib appetizer, and salad, lamb chops good and special fish very good. Quiet and was able to visit with friends.
MP Taverna has consistently good food. The fish is always very fresh and delicious! Every time I eat here I wonder why I don’t eat here more often. So good. The service is great too.
For our group's first time at this restaurant, we were a tad disappointed with the main entrees. The appetizers were very good and service excellent however the main course was very late in being served. Portions were smaller than we are used to for the price charged. One of the entrees was missing vegetables listed on menu. We loved the space and decor, and lively crowd.
Food was very good. Service was slow and not that attentive.
Love this spot! The simply grilled is absolutely outstanding!
Best lamb burgers anywhere with smashed fries to match. Wish they had taramasalata on the menu!
Excellent service, from the manager to the busboy, we were taken care of well. And as far as the #1 reason to go to a restaurant, the food, it was fantastic. LOVE the octopus salad, smashed fries, risotto...
We both ordered the orata whole fish. One which was small and the other was even smaller. For 27.95 it was over priced. The beer and wine was ok. The restaurant seems to be in a mode of trying to make money by reducing the size of the food it gives you. When the restaurant first opened it served good size portions but over time the prices raised and the portions became smaller.
I took my wife there for her birthday along with my mother-in-law. The food and service were wonderful. I plan to go back soon. Thank you MP Taverna for a lovely dining experience.
waiter was not too interested in serving--he casually shirked off any oversights
Loved the branzino. Head of restaurant terrific and attentive. Sangria red was outstanding.
Food was OK, nothing special. Service needs a fixing and manager needs an upgrade. The night we went there was a very noisy group of 8 that were VERY VERY loud and the manager did nothing about it. The party was right in the middle of the dinning room and was disruptive to all the other dinners. The service wasn't very attentive and we had to ask for clean plates, utensils and bread. The wine list was very pour and overall the restaurant reminded me of a fast food chain.
The food was very good. The service was good, but seemed to be slow with drinks coming from the bar. So much so, we sent our appetizers back as we had requested to have drinks first. That said, the appetizers were again brought back to the table before the drinks arrived.
We Would go back again because the food is well done and they tried to accommodate us. Seemed overwhelmed with the Saturday night crush.
My girlfriends and I ordered the simply grilled fish. It was cooked well. Service was pleasant. For dessert, the brownie and napoleon was good, but a little overpriced for the small amount we got.
Great food and service! Yum
Occasion was Mom's 80th birthday. Waitstaff went out of their way to make Mom feel special. Food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the desserts.
Restaurant was flexible in changing the time of our reservations when we hit bad traffic driving up from DC. Also flexible when the fifth member our group was unable to join us.
Food was ok but nothing special. Meme platter was small and only included 3 items. Service fair.
Located on the Hudson in the historic Lord and Burnham buildings in Irvington, MP Taverna delivers excellent Greek cuisine in a bustling, inviting environment. A lemon chicken was outstanding. Service is pleasant and professional, and the prices reasonable for the quality offered.
This place has never ever disappointed me, no matter how many people, what time of day, or what's on the menu. Such a gem.
