MP Taverna - Irvington
MP Taverna’s accessible menu brings Psilakis’ Greek fare into the American culinary lexicon and is another step towards the chef’s goal of putting Greek cuisine on the culinary main stage. “The memories I have of cooking with my family are the inspiration for my restaurants, and I hope my guests create their own memories through their dining experiences at MP Taverna,” says Chef Michael Psilakis. “I want MP Taverna to be a destination for more than just a celebratory meal; a place that conjures the familiarity of your dining room table at home.”
Dinner: Sunday–Thursday, 5:00pm–10:00pm
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday: 12:00pm – 3:00pm
WE (Four Newyorkers) dined here after a visiting Lyndhurst. Beautiful space close by the Historic House. Nice Greek/American menu. Excellent mezze, seafood entrees and desserts. a most pleasant experience.
All was overall good, but our fish didn’t taste good at all, we believe it was undercooked or not so fresh.
good food and presentation
friendly excellent service
Always a good meal ... Bronzino was delicious! Enjoyed rib appetizer, and salad, lamb chops good and special fish very good. Quiet and was able to visit with friends.
MP Taverna has consistently good food. The fish is always very fresh and delicious! Every time I eat here I wonder why I don’t eat here more often. So good. The service is great too.
For our group's first time at this restaurant, we were a tad disappointed with the main entrees. The appetizers were very good and service excellent however the main course was very late in being served. Portions were smaller than we are used to for the price charged. One of the entrees was missing vegetables listed on menu. We loved the space and decor, and lively crowd.
Food was very good. Service was slow and not that attentive.
Love this spot! The simply grilled is absolutely outstanding!
Best lamb burgers anywhere with smashed fries to match. Wish they had taramasalata on the menu!
Excellent service, from the manager to the busboy, we were taken care of well. And as far as the #1 reason to go to a restaurant, the food, it was fantastic. LOVE the octopus salad, smashed fries, risotto...
We both ordered the orata whole fish. One which was small and the other was even smaller. For 27.95 it was over priced. The beer and wine was ok. The restaurant seems to be in a mode of trying to make money by reducing the size of the food it gives you. When the restaurant first opened it served good size portions but over time the prices raised and the portions became smaller.
I took my wife there for her birthday along with my mother-in-law. The food and service were wonderful. I plan to go back soon. Thank you MP Taverna for a lovely dining experience.
waiter was not too interested in serving--he casually shirked off any oversights
Loved the branzino. Head of restaurant terrific and attentive. Sangria red was outstanding.
Food was OK, nothing special. Service needs a fixing and manager needs an upgrade. The night we went there was a very noisy group of 8 that were VERY VERY loud and the manager did nothing about it. The party was right in the middle of the dinning room and was disruptive to all the other dinners. The service wasn't very attentive and we had to ask for clean plates, utensils and bread. The wine list was very pour and overall the restaurant reminded me of a fast food chain.
The food was very good. The service was good, but seemed to be slow with drinks coming from the bar. So much so, we sent our appetizers back as we had requested to have drinks first. That said, the appetizers were again brought back to the table before the drinks arrived.
We Would go back again because the food is well done and they tried to accommodate us. Seemed overwhelmed with the Saturday night crush.
My girlfriends and I ordered the simply grilled fish. It was cooked well. Service was pleasant. For dessert, the brownie and napoleon was good, but a little overpriced for the small amount we got.
Great food and service! Yum
Occasion was Mom's 80th birthday. Waitstaff went out of their way to make Mom feel special. Food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the desserts.
Restaurant was flexible in changing the time of our reservations when we hit bad traffic driving up from DC. Also flexible when the fifth member our group was unable to join us.
Food was ok but nothing special. Meme platter was small and only included 3 items. Service fair.
Located on the Hudson in the historic Lord and Burnham buildings in Irvington, MP Taverna delivers excellent Greek cuisine in a bustling, inviting environment. A lemon chicken was outstanding. Service is pleasant and professional, and the prices reasonable for the quality offered.
This place has never ever disappointed me, no matter how many people, what time of day, or what's on the menu. Such a gem.
The fish was excellent, and the fusilli pasta delicious and a bit spicy. Good beer selection as well.
Good food. Not that amazing, I’ve had better. My biggest complaint would be the cocktails. At an average of $14 the drinks were weak and overall not great. Restaurant is by the waterfront which is its biggest appeal.
We eat here about once a month and usually love it, but this past Friday evening was so disappointing. The beet salad should have been called an onion salad. It was basically a plate full of onions with a few beets. I asked for the salmon (the special not simply grilled) to be cooked through. It was so rare in the middle I couldn’t eat it. And the service which is usually amazing was almost non-existent. Very disappointed.
The service was disorganized, as if no one really knew who had been assigned to serve our table. The server was friendly but not particularly focused on making our dinner special. At one point, our main course was delivered, but there was no silverware to eat with. I had to flag down someone to let them know this--no one noticed. While the food was quite good, the overall experience was not pleasant. I want to support the restaurant, especially as my office is in the same building, but I was embarrassed by the multitude of errors the servers made. My husband and I were meeting an old friend for dinner there, and I had been the one to recommend the restaurant. In retrospect, not sure I made the right choice. The women's bathroom was marginally clean--another area that makes a difference in someone's overall impression.
The food, service and ambiance were all equally appealing. We will return.
The food was excellent. We would definitely come back
Amazing Greek food! The Greek paella was unique and delicious!
Love this restaurant! The octopus, the meze trio, the whole bronzino &/or dorado are always moist and wonderful. Service is friendly and efficient.
This place has amazing food, everything is delicious. The wait for the food isn't long either and tastes very fresh and well made. The waiters are very attentive and nice. I love the location because its by the water and there is even a little park right next to it so the drive was cute. Overall the service and the food is great, highly recommend.
Told them my son had an allergy to chickpeas and they assured us that they could make the fried calamari without them. They told us multiple times that the chef would make sure they were completely separated while preparing our order. When the calamari arrived, we were once again promised that they were safe for my son to eat. After eating several pieces, we noticed that the bottom of the dish was full of chickpeas! I told our waiter who did absolutely nothing - nor did the chef come out to apologize. They are lucky we had his epipen or this story would have a different ending. I will not be returning and people with food allergies should stay away!
MP Taverna never ceases to amaze me! I had the sword fish and it was wonderful as always. My husband had the Filet Mignon special and he really enjoyed it. We never make it to the desserts because the appetizers are too hard to resist. I highly recommend this restaurant:)
Amazing from start to finish! So much good food, you have to keep going back
Grilled fish was very good, and also soft shell crab.
Been to MP Taverna many times. The food and cocktails are usually very good. However, our dining experience was not the best this time. Cocktails took much too long to arrive so there was no time to enjoy them before food came out. Food was good but side dishes were forgotten and when reminded, never came out. Service was not attentive at all. Reminded us of the first time we came when it was their soft opening a few years ago when they needed to iron out the kinks. A bit disappointing.
Just had a delightful, yummy time
This restaurant never disappoints. Food is delicious and service extremely professional and polite. Whenever we are in the area, this is our go to place. We have brought friends and family and everyone loves it. Thank you for the wonderful experience,
Reservations were for 8:15 PM. We arrived at 7:45 PM so that we could sit at the bar and have a drink. 8:15 came and went and no table. It was only when I informed them if they didn't have a table it would be ok I'd just go somewhere else did I get a table. That was after 8:30. Then our waiter was lost for inordinate amounts of time. All in all it felt like we were at a Cheese Cake Factory on a busy Saturday night. That's the impression I got. The Mgr. was constantly frantically running around.
Needless to say, we won't go back.
