It was closed. thankfully they called the day before to tell me. Sadly i could not cancel on opentable as it would not allow me and would not connect.
Food and service amazing
My wife and I have dined here a few times and it’s always great but yesterday (Mother’s Day) was horrible!! The appetizers weren’t brought out all at once, the entrees started coming out before the last appetizer was brought out, a bottle of wine took 30min to bring out, they forgot my daughter’s plate, they forgot my daughter’s desert, the waitress spilled a drink on one of our people on the table!! Hope this doesn’t happen next time!!
Our waiter was a great facilitator to the evening, offering tastes of wines and recommendations for dishes. You feel like a regular on your very first visit.
we went because we read something about them offering a traditional Greek easter dinner. That wasn't the case but the lamb chops were delicious . Everything was. The only thing was the grilled octopus was overcooked and chewy. Ill go back

always consistent, always comforting. great service, pleasant atmosphere. best octopus dishes in Queens.
Love the location staff and food
The food was just OK. The ambience is deli-like and it was pretty cold (and asking for the temp to be raised didn't help). It's basically a nice neighborhood restaurant but not worth a trip to.
Everyone ordered something different. As the plates came out, the presentation of each dish was lovely! Although some dishes were a bit on the salty side, everything was delicious. The crab risotto was amazing as was the Greek paella. All the appetizers were also delicious. The portions were also impressive, especially the paella.
Nic Valentines Day dinner. Food was fire and nice setting.
Had absolutely no idea what they were doing. Main course took over an hour to come after the apps came.
Our food was served quickly and was delicious. We were there for brunch and the servers were great at coming around and refilling our mimosas.
Pricey for the food it offered, so no real value for money
We tried out the restaurant during the restaurant week and was pretty empty when we arrived during Sunday noon. The service was good but the food was meh, my friend ordered the risotto and I got the shrimp fra diavolo, the risotto was ok but the diavolo was a tragedy, too spicy to put in your mouth. I get that menu does mentioned there's hot chipotle sauce inside but it's really way too much.
The food and ambiance was great however the room temperature was warm on the 2nd level. The waitress did everything to accommodate us but there were other customers who wanted the window closed. The bottom line choose a table on the lower level.
Always wanted to try this place and Restaurant Week gave us the opportunity to finally do so. Delicious lamb risotto and a lovely evening overall.
It was just fine. However, in Astoria, "fine" should not cut it when there are so many wonderful restaurants within a lamb shank's throw of MP Taverna on Ditmars.
The food, as usual, was terrific. However, unfortunately, the waitress was incredibly rude and short with us. This included scowling at someone at our table ordering a martini with a specific vodka and a "twist of lime" and pushing my wife to get a bottle of wine instead of a glass, even though she was the only one having wine. While this was not our usual experience here, we had brought friends from out of town for a good meal and her attitude kind of put a damper on that. Otherwise, the food was, as always, a definite positive.
Our server, Dan was fantastic as was the food! MP Taverna is an Astoria staple and I keep going back.
Upscale and cozy!! Rare combination done well. Good food not overdone, friendly service.

An excellent neighborhood gem with very good service and a comfortable environment. Sit upstairs for views overlooking the streets with particularly well constructed fish dishes and Greek standards!
The food is fantastic and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I was very disappointed in this restaurant. I made reservations well in advance for my 2 grown children’s birthdays. They sat us in a corner where the 5 of us squeezed in and I was against a cold window and had to keep my coat on. I had asked for a better table and the waitress responded that the upstairs was closed!
The food was average and the service was less than average and we waited a very long time for our meals. We just wanted to leave after eating but to apologize for everything above the waitress brought over 2 desserts with candles which was very nice but didn’t make up for the bad experience at MP Taverna.
Love this place! Excellent food & service. Aziz was a absolutely wonderful server. My fifth visit and we'll be back!
We enjoyed our food and cocktail (only one of us drank), and the service was excellent. Our two top was tightly enough wedged between others that the person behind me kept banging into the back of my chair. More of an issue for us was the dreary old Motown playlist - every song overfamiliar, and unnecessary to hear again. No surprises in the bunch. There's so much great Greek music - why not play that? Is it necessary for the environment to be so deadeningly pedestrian and middle-of-the-road, even though it's Queens?
Great thanksgiving menu, service, and environment!
Great food every time I’ve been here. Service on the other hand has always been ok. Except this time. I will attribute it to being a holiday (Thanksgiving)but I have to say it was very disappointing. I am very understanding during the holidays, but I do still believe certain basics should be expected during any dining experience. Great food but use your judgement when choosing this place, dependent on the dining experience you are looking for.
The upstairs needs to be available and not kept for special groups. The upstairs was always avail when it first opened and now there is always an excuse as to why I can't sit upstairs. The dining experience is much better upstairs and it needs to be an option.
This is an excellent Greek taverna. The dining area is pleasant, but with the emphasis more on the food itself than on fancy decor. In addition to offering most of the dishes you would expect, there also are some interesting dishes created by chef Michael Psilakis. Service was willing and helpful.
Came to restaurant for my daughter's birthday for brunch. Server did not come to our table for a long time, we had to ask for a server several times. Finally she came, drinks took over 15 minutes, we had to ask twice until finally they were brought over. The food took forever as well, and only three of us got our meal, they forgot one of the orders, we had to repeatedly ask where is "his food". The three of us were almost done with our meal when the last dish was brought out, without even as an apology. We all gave him a taste of our food. Finally when his food came, he didn't eat much of it. I asked to speak with a manager, but no one came to speak with us or ask us how was "anything". I didn't want to make my daughter feel bad, since she recommended this restaurant, so I did not make a stink about this whole issue, but I was very disappointed. In between the meal, our server was changed and she was very nice, but my overall experience was not pleasant to say the least. I hope this place gets their act together.

Disappointed. The food was ok, but didn’t deliver a culinary experience as I expected. Started off with three spreads and pita, chickpea, eggplant, and yogurt. I enjoyed two of the three and the warm pita. The main course was the special NP branzino. We found it way too salty with the olives and capers. It came with a few fingerlings, some not cooked through, and roasted cherry tomatoes. There was some char on the branzino, but not nearly enough for taste, and the lemon dressing was tasteless. Wine choices by the glass were of poor quality and had little body. We asked for a bit more pita during the entree and were charged, a mistake that an establishment shouldn’t make on a $100 bill if they want return customers. We traveled from Manhattan expecting a special experience. That won’t happen again. There were little or no ambiance, but the service was good although the waiter tried to push anything that was an extra or a bit more expensive.
