Mozelle's Fresh Southern Bistro
Lunch was fantastic!
Great food as always. Service was bad. Typically, service is much better. But, our waiter ignored us to chat with staff and other patrons.
This has become one of our favorites in the Triad since we discovered it a little over a year ago. We love the small neighborhood feel of the place and the consistent excellent quality of the food. One thing that stands out for us when we eat here is the service and the quality of the wait staff. We have never had the same waiter/waitress but they each have been friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and always go out of their way to make our visit perfect.
We have been many times however inordinately noisy this time
We had a great late dinner after my wife did a book reading at Bookmarks. We sat at the bar so got great service from several folks. Split soup, salad, and scallops. All delicious. Got a great recommendation for a glass of red wine and the best part if came right out of the wine refrigerator in front of us at the perfect temperature. Few restaurants make this effort.
This is by far one of our favorite restaurants. Just happened to order the wrong thing. Sent my steak back twice and I am not one to return food. I ordered it medium rare. The first steak was flat and charred and the second one was a small medallion that was raw. The service was and is always great and my husband enjoyed his tomato pie which is what I usually order.
This was our first time at Mozelle's, but it definitely won't be our last. We were greeted by friendly, smiling faces as soon as we walked in the door, which means a lot to us. Our server, Emma, was incredible and took very good care of us. The food was every bit as good as we had heard it would be, if not better. The chef is to be commended, not only for his commitment to Southern cuisine, but also for his creativity. There are not many restaurants where I make a point of thanking the chef directly as we leave, but this was an exception. Incredible!
we had the rockfish special and it was good, but not excellent. We had a nice experience, but a bit pricey considering the quality of food. Staff was wonderful. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, but it was the special of the evening.
Phenomenal, as always. Jessica is a fabulous part of the Mozelles team, and Mozelles continues to be my favourite restaurant in Winston Salem.
Food and atmosphere great and we especially liked our server Emma.
I usually enjoy the atmosphere in Mozelle's, but this time there was a screaming child at the bar, and because we were seated near the grill, it was noisy and smelly through our entire dinner. I learned my lesson and will always ask to be seated elsewhere. Normally, the bar area is fine. It was not this time!
First time there for Brunch this past Sunday. The food was amazing, not a fan of biscuits and white gravy at all, but after the waitress sold us on it, Mozelle's breakfast special was outstanding. Huevos Rancheros was equally amazing, as was the Creme Brulee. Will definitely return.
Enjoyed from start to finish. Fried pickles were great and shrimp pad Thai was amazing. Very original dish. Wife enjoyed her shrimp and grits very much. Finished with coconut cake. Beyond full, but we enjoyed it so much. Can't wait to return.
Emma our server was fantastic! Food is always consistently good. Favorite restaurant in Winston Salem
Birthday brunch. Husband ordered the Benedict and really enjoyed it. It looked very good. I had the filet because it was the easiest thing to make GF and DF, but they didn’t get it right the first time and had to send it back (order Med. Rare came out rare, ordered green beans they put extra asparagus). Second time it came out it was medium well but didn’t want to send it back because I was hungry. I overheard the kitchen staff being rude to our server because of my allergies and special needs. The drinks were very good, the husband enjoyed a Sake Bloody Mary & Kir Royal. I had a brut cava rose , a favorite of mine. The menu looked very good, if you are GF and can have dairy you will have lots to choose from, it you have multiple allergies it’s a stretch. Very pretty and cute interior. Def a good place for drinks.
Mozelle's food was excellent, as was the service. However, we felt that the menu was very limited and the interior space was somewhat cramped. Would recommend for the good food, but we probably won't be "regulars" unless they regularly change the menu. Would also help if they had a full bar offering.
Simply my favorite restaurant in Winston - Salem, period. Great wait staff and hosts. The standards on the menu, shrimp and grits with a sherry sauce, fried chicken with peach chutney, and the tomato pie are not to be missed. Plus they regularly switch the other parts of their menu with fresh fish and other delights.
Highly recommend the tomato pie! Everyone in the party loved their meal and the creme brûlée was also to die for. The restaurant itself is tiny so make sure to make reservations!
Really disappointed. Had to wait. Not their fault. Had a top camped out and wouldn’t leave.
Fried pickles were excellent but a really small portion. Waiter pitched the catch of the day and we ordered it. He came back saying they ran out. Subbed it for a comparable fish but it was over cooked. Placed on a bed of arugula and not much else. Scallops were very good but the kale hadn’t been washed properly and was gritty. Waiter was awesome and staff was courteous. Just a lot of $’s for what we got.
First time there for lunch. Dinners here have always been great, but had not come back in a while. So, tried lunch this time and was surprised by so many original (as in creative, innovative) items. So, in my party, we tried the classic tomato pie and a couple of the new things. Everything was outstanding, and somehow I felt even better than the great dinners I have had here before. We had a couple of glasses of wine and they were the usual delicious. Service was wonderful, and we were allowed to take a testing sip of a couple of different wines so we could make a better decision as to what to have with our lunch. So, really a wonderful experience.
It’s always a treat to go to Mozelles! We had a great meal. My favorite is the tomato pie.
Such a gem in Winston-Salem! We stumbled upon Mozelle's and were so happy we did. Starting with the fried pickles and fennel fries, both gluten-friendly, all the way to the best burger we've had in quite some time. This dining experience did not disappoint. Be sure to get reservations though since the space is not large. We'll definitely be back, and next time we'll take full advantage of the brilliant wine list.
Perfect date night!
Our wonderful food was enhanced by the fantastic waiter who knew the food and was very willing to discuss it. He should give lessons!
We had the opportunity to dine outside at Mozelle’s on a nice spring night. We enjoyed scallops (my wife), tomato pie (me; we share), a nice French Syrah, and the chocolate pie dessert. All of the courses were excellent, and the wine was also very nice. We were well taken care of while seated outside.
The BEST Restaurant in Winston-Salem!! The ingenuity of the chef, the quaint atmosphere and lovely sidewalk dining, including amazing service make this the place TO MAKE SURE YOU DINE AT while visiting or go weekly if you live in Winston. My son, mother and I can’t wait to return.
We enjoyed the smoke salmon Nichols with banana peppers, spicy mayo and slivers of taro that were beyond delightful. ‘Y son’s kale salad was the best We had ever had! While his Fesh catch special a Wahu, was on the small side, my mother and I were very pleased with the Bone-in pork chop and shrimp and grits. My son’s appetite was appeased by finishing my shrimp and grits- more than enough for two and the Freshly made malted strawberry dessert with graham cracker sprinkled over top. Such an amazing offering of tastes. So much more to try and of course try our favorites again.
Came here for brunch and it was excellent. The Mozelle’s Benedict was very tasty. Will be coming back again.
The best restaurant in Winston-Salem. We had great service, and the food was scrumptious. The tomato bisque soup is a great starter. I had the kale salad with baked salmon for my entree and it was perfect. Topped it all off with creme brûlée. A fabulous meal!
Mozelle's is mine and my wife's Go To when we want a fantastic meal! Mozelle's has never failed to deliver great food and great service.
Best in town! Always consistent and the service and atmosphere perfect One of the best places in town for outdoor dining or Sunday brunch!!
Loved the food, great wine suggestions. It would just have been better if they had waited with the main course until we had finished our starters ...
Excellent, as always! We loved the French red recommended by our waitress.
We went to Mozelle’s because we were visiting Winston-Salem for the weekend and were touring all day. Additionally, it was my cousin’s bday on Thursday. We wanted to sit outside and enjoy some wine and a lovely meal which was accomplished. Even further, I have dairy and gluten restrictions. They were wonderfully helpful as they knew how meals were made and helped me choose something that posed the least challenges and tasted fantastic. They also helped me surprise my cousin with a decadent dessert and a close out the check without her knowing. Thanks so much!! You made our weekend!
This little gem is one amazing restaurant. Top flight service, extraordinary food. I had the edamame hummus which was phenomenal! Add a bottle of Carmenere and top it off with a most delicious cut of swordfish. The fish was cooked to perfection and served on a bed of arugula with some new potatoes and a chef’s butter topping, all of which was delicious. Our server was top notch, knowledgeable and available. My companion had a shrimp and grits and remarked on the freshness of the shrimp. All in all, I will definitely be back next trip to Winston-Salem!
Great food and service. A bit pricey but in the end worth it.
Always great, nice to set outside weather permitting. Tomato pie, meatloaf and fried chicken are our favorite entries
Always warm and welcoming atmosphere, amazing food and great prices. Can’t beat this place. A somewhat hidden WS gem.
Great experience! Will definitely be returning!
Yet another outstanding experience at Mozelle's. Probably one of my top five meals ever. Service perfect, meal outstanding. Noise level a little high but not a bad distraction. If you have the good fortune to have Alex as your waiter; just go with his recommendations and sit back and enjoy. He nailed it. Also a very pleasant conversation with Julieanna that rounded out a perfect dining experience.
We made a last minute reservation for Easter dinner. As usual, the meal was excellent. After an appetizer of the southern spring rolls, we had sea scallops and Thai curry noodles with shrimp. The seafood was perfectly prepared and portion size was just right. Despite it obviously being a busy day for the restaurant, their was no rush or commotion, allowing us to have a quiet dinner with plenty of chance to relax and enjoy the food and company.
