Mountain View Restaurant at Cheyenne Mountain Resort Ratings and Reviews
We’ve been here twice now. The first time was amazing. Comfort food expected, and that’s what we got, with yummy salads and desserts. The second time was supposed to be Italian food, and we took our friends there. And we’re expecting some kind of Italian foods. It ended up being Cajun food. Every day is a different buffet. Like comfort food on Saturday’s. Friday was supposed to be Italian food. Another day is Mexican. And so on. This time they had snapper fish with cream sauce. Grits and shrimp, Cajun chicken pasta, and corn on the cob. The food was good. But we had our hearts set on Italian. The desserts were good. They had beignets, pecan pie (the best), bread pudding in a bundt cake form. And macaroons. Overall it was yummy, I just wish they would get an actual correct sample menu of what’s going to be on the buffet. Or at least what type of food is going to be there. So we don’t set our hearts on one type of food and get something else. All in all I’d definitely recommend to a friend. Next time I’d just call and ask what’s going to be on the buffet.
Main course items were quite good. A little disappointed in the salad items. I thought the dessert selections were weak and lacked flavor. This was our 4th Christmas buffet and my sense was that the food presentations were the weakest. It almost felt like they really were not into making an effort to please the customer, but rather, they were going through the motions.
Of course, the price went up again. I just don’t think that we will be back for Christmas.
Had never been to this restaurant. Booked Christmas Eve dinner on-line. There was no indication that this meal would be a buffet. Holiday decorations were beautiful. The dining area was open, but had the feeling of eating in the lobby. Buffet was beautifully displayed, but food was bland. Waitstaff was not attentive; our used buffet plates piled up on our table. Staff did not follow through on specific request. The buffet was $75/person with an included tip extra. Disappointed.
I got married here 6 years ago and have been enjoying their Sunday brunch for about 10 years, the quality has only improved and this hands down the best brunch buffet i have EVER had! Their desserts are incredible, their chefs and freshness of food is superb...i cannot say ENOUGH great things about this resort. AND they support our military and offer a generous discount. You will not be anything but full, incredibly blown away and satisfied!
Very expensive brunch! Not sure it was worth it. Would have been better to have lunch, which would have been half the cost. The location is great , with beautiful scenery. It was pretty noisy, with a lot of people there.
Service was good, and a lot of selections. The vegetables I chose were underdone, otherwise the food was okay.
The facility was hosting a business Christmas party and the event was held in open spaces of the resort and the noise spilled over into the restaurant. The water hovered over us to the point of annoyance. Special occasion of birthday was never acknowledged. Pretty disappointing experience after dropping $200 for dinner!
My impression is that the restaurant has gone downhill since Dolce took over. The price went up, and there are apparent problems. My friends seat upholstery had holes in it, and the chair at the next table had broken wood in its back. The food was about the same, but we were there at 1:00 PM and there was a HUGE platter of smoked salmon. I can't imagine that it was eaten in the hour that was left, and I have no idea what happened to that and the rest of the food. The staff was polite and attentive, but it just wan't the same feeling as before.
I was very disappointed. I ordered the Steak and Frites. I chose to substitute the fries with a salad. The salad came out first. When my steak came out it was the only thing on the large white plate. I ordered my steak well done but it was rare. I should have sent it back but regretfully I didn't. I would have preferred my salad served at the same time as the steak then at least there would have been something else on my plate besides the steak. The salad was excellent as well as my husband's salmon. The view was spectacular. Unfortunately I won't be giving the restaurant a second chance.
We arrived at 1:45. Lunch service ends at 2. Service people apparently were done because we had a very nervous inexperienced server. We were unimpressed with the service even in the bar. Everyone seemed inconvenienced by any request. I’m sure if we were earlier it would have been fine.
We made a reservation several weeks in advance. Our reservation was for 2 at 7:15 pm. There were 3 tables with people at them. The buffet was not an option for the reason of not enough people. We were given the menu to order off of. It was the same menu as the bar had minus a few items. So we went to he bar. Not impressed!!!
So disappointed in the food and ambience but then again, we were expecting something fancier. We opted for the menu vs the buffet because we don't eat huge amounts. The menu was limited and the quality/price was not worth it.
It is a buffet restaurant - that is all and those that like that type of food will love it! It just wasn't right for us.
I took my fiancé to this restaurant for her Birthday. I ordered a bottle of wine and the server appeared to not be trained in opening a bottle because the table shook as she opened it and it popped off like a bottle of champagne. The entire experience was rushed with food coming right after our salad. My fiancé had the duck with balsamic reduction, yet the sauce was more like sweet grape sauce. The garnish seemed rudimentary with a flower and grapes just thrown on the plate. Mine was elk bolognese which tasted more like chef Boyardi.
Finally, the birthday desert with a candle and it came while we were still mid through eating dinner.
The restaurant's service and food did not match the appearance that it showed. I was definitely looking forward to a very romantic evening and birthday with my fiancé only to be greatly disappointed.
My family and I were so impressed by the hospitality, the ambiance, and the delicious food at Mountain View Restaurant. The Prime Rib was perfect, my boys loved the country fried steak and I could not get enough of the buffalo meatloaf. The salad choices were all fresh, full of flavor, and had a fantastic variety of salad making ingredients. Every meal we ate in this restaurant was great! Definitely try the spinach and goat cheese casserole. It's delicious!
I was so excited. It was Mexican night and the menu looked amazing. It was a buffet for $37.00 a person. However the food was not fresh. The easiest dish to make rice and beans were bland and dry. I was disappointed with the food but service and setting were great but no worth the $37.00
We had an anniversary meal there on a Monday night--Mediterranean day. The salad bar was good. The dessert bar was good. The main course bar, remember this is a buffet, consisted of:
1) a shelled seafood platter consisting mainly of mussels in an oniony stew
2) eggplant parmesan
3) chicken breast in an oniony sauce
5) roast lamb
The mussels were more dry than succulent and you couldn't access the stewy sauce as bowls were not provided.
The eggplant was good.
The chicken breasts were chicken breasts.
The cauliflower was dry and tasteless.
The lamb was the best part.
All to say for $92 after tax and tip this was a great disappointment. I figure we paid $70 for the view and $22 for the food.
