Great part of our Mount Vernon visit. The food was great and our waiter provided excellent customer service. We made reservations and were quickly seated when we arrived early.
Really like the menu variety here, and better value than some of the comparable Northern Virginia area restaurants. Especially liked our server who was able to get us a quieter table away from the fairly noisy bar area. Thanks! The appetizer, main course, and dessert were all very tasty.
Great Local Historic Site, worth the trip for a tasty meal in a beautiful setting. Menu had plenty of tasty selections at fair prices. Good wines available if required.
Excellent food and service! I would recommend adding it to your things to do at Mount Vernon.
Feasted on pre meal treats like Mac and cheese, three hummus, hard to finish main course.
All four of us enjoyed our meal.
This was our first time at this restaurant. Overall, a great experience and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The decor seemed appropriate for the venue, although the flowers were plastic.
My spouse and I shared the Jambalaya and had a slice of cherry pie for dessert. The meal was fabulous, the service warm and attentive and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The view was superb as we were at the grounds of the First President of the United States' home. This was a meal to remember!
Fantastic selection of southern and plantation foods at great prices. Peanut soup is a must try or the soup trio.
Definitely would recommend the restaurant. Has a real colonial feel and delicious choices. We also felt the food was very well prepared and inexpensive. I had the small Caesar Salad and my husband had the peanut soup, both delicious. The peanut soup was really good. We ordered the corn bread and that also was outstanding. We both went for comfort foods and we ordered the meatloaf stuffed with cheese and spinach and wrapped in bacon served with delicious mashed potatoes. Yes it is delicious and definitely worth the calories. The service was very good. We had spent the day at Mount Vernon so dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn was a really good way to end our very nice day. Whether or not you spend the day at Mt. Vernon or just have dinner at the restaurant I think you will really enjoy your experience.
We use to live in the area and enjoyed taking family and friends to the restaurant. We try to enjoy the inn every time we get back into town. Always a pleasure!
Ate here with my wife for her birthday. We had dined here previously, but that was many years ago.
The tables are too close to each other, so one cannot have a private conversation. It was too noisy. Table next to us had a kid that was making noise and running around. While the service was OK, the food was bland. We both had the butternut squash soup, but it was served lukewarm. My wife had the chicken, which she said was OK, I had the meatloaf. The meatloaf was not very hot and tasted VERY bland.
The prices were good, but I guess you do get what you pay for.
Won't be dining here anytime soon.
Enjoyed restaurant very much. Fried chicken was good.
I ordered the Soup Sampler Trio and would recommend it. The peanut and water chestnut soup is out of the ordinary and very delicious. I also enjoyed the Wedge Salad with their homemade Bleu Chesse Dressing. The coffee was was blah and I would avoid it
Food was great and service was excellent! We were very happy with our food selections.
The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive.
We went on a Tuesday evening to celebrate our anniversary, and everything was delightful. Be sure to take advantage of the Happy Hour prices at the bar ($6 glasses of wine). I had the pork shank and my spouse had the 14 oz prime rib, each with a side salad. Both were delicious, with enough left over for the following night's dinner. The setting and atmosphere are wonderful, and so quiet we had to keep our voices down when conversing - far different than so many other restaurants these days! We look forward to returning soon.
My party included 3 adults, a youth and a toddler. All but one from out of state. We did our best to order food representative of old Virginia and not ONE dish disappointed. The crab cake and Virginia ham on a hoecake was a big hit with my family from the west. Our entrees were elegantly presented and as delicious asvthey seemed on the menu. Even the children's favorites were a big hit. Thank you for producing a memorable meal. I'll have to visit more often, with local guests.
Food was good, as was the service, but we were sat literally 4 feet from the bar. It was packed. It was extremely loud. There were bar patrons standing at times inches from our table. If you are brought to a table in the bar area, don't make the mistake we made and immediately ask for another table. It was a miserable dinning experience.
Lovely historic venue with a friendly staff. A variety of items on menu for all tastes and budgets.
I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was so nice and that the food was so good. Salads were fresh, dressings with a touch of flavor that was very good and unique, and the fried green tomatoes were super.
Excellent food and service
We all throughly enjoyed our lunch
It was very good.
Good food, excellent wine, fast service.
I had expected this to be a tourist trap that was mediocre at best. I was really surprised. The food was delicious. Get the turkey pot pie, the hoecake for a app and a cornbread for the table to share. Planning a return trip to try their brunch.
Food quality poor. Went with waitress recommendations and disappointed. Staff friendly. Not worth the drive unless you want the historic ambiance.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with a great meal and excellent service. Our waitress was outstanding.
Wonderful end to our visit to Mount Vernon. The food and service were outstanding. The turkey pot pie and hoecake with crabmeat and hollandaise were fantastic.
Excellent as usual
My chicken waldorf salad was delicious. Greens super fresh and grapes sweet, firm and perfect. Would order the meal again.
The dining room was basically colonial, as you'd expect, and the food was basically Virginian: both good. Service was OK, though erratic: drinks took a long time, and the waiter didn't ask preference (up or on-the-rocks) for a cocktail, resulting in a watery Old Fashioned. Entrees appeared before we finished our salads, so the table was crowded for a while. All six of us - age 13 to 77 - found menu items we liked. The background music was both jarring and tinny - bad speakers and bad choices.
Except for the Hummus appetizer which was very tired and flavorless, the meal was very good. I am a local and would dine again in the future.
The food is a delicious combo of colonial and modern era fare. Elegant while still being casual and family friendly.
Service was friendly and well-paced.
We greatly enjoyed the atmosphere, and especially the fife player that walked around the tables! The food selection was very good, some authentic “period” choices, and the price point was fair considering the venue. Our only disappointment was that the jambalaya which my two boys chose was too salty for them to finish eating it.
Great food. Excellent service. Outstanding value.
Our server Elsie was AWESOME!!!! She was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and picked out great wine for us!! We will come back most definitely!!
We enjoyed our meal at the restaurant and our server was very nice. I agree with other comments I have seen about the less organized situation at the host stand. Additionally, there is not much room to wait while they set up your table (which for us took more than 10 minutes after our reservation but when we entered there were many empty tables). However, between this and the food court, this is definitely the choice, and our burger and crab cakes were tasty.
First time my son was at Mount Vernon.
Wonderful lunch. the squash soup was excellent, as was my salad. I am looking forward to returning.
Our dinner at the Inn was planned as a special finale to our day at Mt. Vernon and our visit to DC and it exceeded our expectations! Food was outstanding!! Price points were also excellent especially based on the ambiance and amazing quality of food and service. Our server was delightful and attentive and we could not have asked for a better dining experience in any way. We had everything from Peanut Soup, Hoecakes and entrees to Bread Pudding for dessert and it was all fantastic. Highly recommend. Don't miss this special opportunity.
