A bit disappointing. Our party of five arrived on time and hostess seemed confused and wasn't a welcoming vibe. No eye contact or warmth as we were led to an overly large table (designed for a larger party) in a big room without charm or ambiance. Menu selections were nicely varied but food was mediocre. Server was best part of the experience. Had heard great things about this restaurant but left feeling "eh". Hope things improve. Not enthused about ever returning.

It is great to be able to order Martha’s recipes so I would suggest to add more of them. The peanut soup is an acquired taste which I enjoy but others in my party did not. So, more choices are needed.

I was one of a party of six at our table. The other five people enjoyed their meal. I did not like the breast of duck preparation nor the sweet potatoes or brocolini. Breast of Duck is a specialy entree which needs a good chef to prepare. You should take it off your menu.

Music didn't fit into a colonial vibe. Table needed to be steadied. Broccolini was too spicy. Spices get hotter when reheated. The pork and mashed sweet potato were delicious!

I was expecting over priced poor quality food at a tourist attraction. I was really pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food and reasonable prices. Zach was a great server. Only downside might be cleanliness. Take a Mr Clean eraser to the wallpaper. Some old food splatter from kids I’m sure on the wall and could easily be cleaned. If not cleaning in dining room, are you cleaning in the kitchen…

6 of us had lunch there. Very nice service and OK ambiance. Five of us thought good was OK, I thought the turkey pot pie was awful- a gelatinous glob topped by a hard biscuit. Reasonably priced for a place right on the grounds (the pot pie was $17). If you keep your expectations in check (and avoid the pot pie), you probably won’t be disappointed.

We had very good experience with this restaurant. Steven was our service person and was outstanding. I did not really like the table we were sitting ( right on busy path, my view was room for workers with their cash registers) . But it was maybe our fault , we did not request to be seated on other table . Thanks , we will be back

We made a last-minute reservation to have lunch at the end after spending the morning at Mount Vernon. The service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. I am so glad we were able to get in at the last minute as it was a nice way to end our day at Mount Vernon.

Reservations are very helpful as this is a busy place during lunch hours. The food and service were good and we would recommend having lunch here. There are several rooms for dining which made the restaurant pleasant.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food- the filet mignon was excellent as well as the Brussels sprout side. Portions were huge- staff could actually cut down. Was disappointed in the room we were seated - other pretty, well appointed dining room. Friendly server.

Hoping for an authentic 18th century atmosphere and decor. We stated on our reservation that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary but the first seated us in the back by the very noisy bar area with no historic charm at all. We asked to be moved into another room, specifically the adjacent one with Mt Vernon landscape wallpaper or the blue and white room. But they put us in another bland room with no charm and drab gray walls. At least it was a little quieter. The food was actually very tasty but my portion of duck was quite small. The waitress was very good and accommodating. Overall it was more like being at a “regular” restaurant as opposed to an historic vibe. Disappointed about that part and most likely will not return.

What surprise! The best meal we had on in a week long stay in the area. Very unexpected surprise at a public attraction venue. We shared the brussel sprout salad, wife had chicken/bacon sandwich, I had jambalaya that came with wonderfully seasoned large shrimp. All were delicious. For me, the jambalaya was just on the verge of being too hot/spicy.

The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was very good. My soup and the fried green tomatoes were not as hot as I'd like, but the entrees were generous and well prepared. Overall, it's a nice experience, especially if you are spending the day at Mt. Vernon.

Our server was excellent! Only thing is it took a long time for any food to come out, over 20 minutes. We ordered an eggplant appetizer thinking we’d have that first but after waiting some time, everything came all at once! Appetizer, soup & main course!
