The restaurant was clean and pleasant. The waiter was efficient and helpful. The food was very good.
Amazing food and excellent service in an elegant yet welcoming and family or group friendly space!!
Nice place to eat. Spent several hours and glad to have a nice place to eat,
We made our monthly MVI reservation through the Open Table app and requested Aisha if possible. We’d met her during the peak of the pandemic when the Inn was open but patrons were so few that we often had a room to ourselves. The wait staff is wonderful, and being slow back then we had the chance to converse with a few. We think of Aisha in particular as a dear friend.
The food is always high quality, fresh and tasty. Fried Green Tomatoes, Crispy Brussels Sprout Salad and the Filet Mignon entree are my personal favorites. The rooms with the best ambiance are the blue toile wallpaper room (four tables of four) and the far light Gray dining room with fireplace.
Birthday. The service was excellent along with the great food. Highly recommend it
One step up from a diner, service was horrible, hostess (black female) for outdoor seating was aggressive and dismissive AFTER she decided to get up, from the table where she was sitting a texting, to greet us. She actually sat there and looked us up and down and did not get up to greet us. We thought she was a customer who was just eyeballing other customers. Don't waste your money, this place is a joke.
We ate outdoors on the patio. The food and service were good, but the music was too loud -- big band music, with blaring trumpets and saxophones, and in-your-face Frank Sinatra vocals. It was very intrusive. Also, the food was served in disposible plastic containers with plastic eating utensils, like a fast-food restaurant instead of a fine dining establishment. Why can't outside service be more like the indoor service? We had a reservation for indoors - but not until 6:45 pm, so by 6pm, when the other facilities closed, we were starving, so we went ahead and sat outdoors. If we had not been so hungry, I would have waited to eat indoors.
I expected better. Food was average, service was slow. Waitstaff should have been in period clothing as the prices reflected the experience, ie a bit overpriced for what you got.
Nice place to eat when you need to recharge. Food is good. Srevice was great!
Restaurant was almost empty, which we liked. Very affable waiter. Food was good but not great; the best item we ordered was the Shrimp and Grits. Limited menu, due to the pandemic. The best part of the experience was the peace and quiet; just out of town but it feels like you're out in the country somewhere. Here's hoping that business picks up.
Everyone should visit Mt Vernon, and have something to eat while you're there!
We had a wonderful experience! The food was fantastic and the staff went above and beyond to make our daughter’s 16th birthday extra special. Our family will definitely return!
Wonderful service, historical ambiance, and terrific food! This is a must.
We really enjoyed our food and service!! Aisha was our server and we loved her.
Not worth the price, food was disappointing. Felt like a fast food restaurant. Ordering to check was 30min and bill was over $100 for 4 guests.
Beef tips were barely warm and not a good quality meat. Shrimp and grits were delicious. GW Rye whiskey was not to our liking.
Every server and guest had to pass through the small room we were in and it felt like we were dining in a hallway. Hostess was wearing a black tank top and black running shorts, hmm. Staff was friendly but loud in our small dining area.
One would think that Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant would be just another tourist establishment with so-so food. Not this place! We had dinner and Sunday brunch. Both times the food was excellent. I would highly recommend Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant as your go-to place for your Mount Vernon visit.
Excellent as always . I always stop by when I’m the area
Good food, great service, and the dining room is so pretty!
Brunch. Excellent flavor combinations. Beautiful colonial period decor. Friendly knowledge service.
We had reservations for opening time. The greeting, seating, surroundings, service and food were perfect for Anniversary 45. We come here at least once a year. It’s worth the 1 hour plus drive.
Great for lunch. Brussel sprout salad was delish. Peanut soup is a must!
We went for our anniversary and the staff was amazing as always, and made it feel so special for us. The food was incredible! This is one of our favorite places to dine and to take out of town guests!
Always a nice place to go. Also, very good happy hour.
Did not expect hand painted walls and warm ambience. Had filet mignon, shrimp and grits and crab soup. All highly recommended.
Exceptional lunch AND dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn! Thank you!!!
FABULOUS way to celebrate our wedding anniversary and birthdays with AWESOME food/bev and AMAZING atmosphere!
We had a very enjoyable dinner at Mt. Vernon Inn. The food and service were great!
It was wonderful to be back at the Mount Vernon Inn after so many months away! All staff were welcoming, professional, efficient, and kind. Thank you!!
Looking forward to our next visit!
We are moving from the area and wanted to experience Mt Vernon In. One last time. It was also a birthday celebration at the same time. The advice is always welcoming, helpful, and kind. Food was delicious and we are glad to see the full menu back!
The service and staff very friendly and professional. Will be happy for the pandemic to end so people can get out and enjoy a trip to Mt Vernon Inn.
Always excellent food and service here. I make it a point to eat here every time I’m in the area.
We toured first and then had lunch. Celebrated a birthday and anniversary. Steaks and pork chop were delicious. Desserts were wonderful too! Attentive service and wonderful food! Would highly recommend!!
The service and food were both exceptional. Highly recommend.
Need some spoons on the table.
Nice waitress and atmosphere.
Beautiful place the service and food was excellent
We were a party of four for lunch at the outdoor patio. The food was absolutely delicious and very good portions - hoecakes, entree salads, GW burger and jambalaya. Service was courteous, attentive and prompt. Due to the pandemic, there were very few diners so it was very quiet.
Absolutely charming. And the food was reasonably tasty, if not particularly creative. The Jambalaya was excellent. The filet steak was a bit dry, but well-seasoned, and the accompanying green beans perfectly crisp-tender. Locally produced Chardonnay wasn’t bad, but it tasted more like a Pinot Grigio. It was the palest yellow, slightly astringent, with zero body and no oak. Kids meals were inexpensive, huge, and a hit (chicken tenders + fries and sirloin steak + mashed potatoes). Apart from kids meals, prices are somewhat high, but that’s to be expected, given the venue. My only real complaint was the amateurish waitstaff. Our waiter was good-natured and affable, but could answer almost none of our questions about the menu, and frankly admitted to never having tried any of the wines and knowing nothing about them. When my husband paid our bill, the waiter stared while my husband added the tip. My husband, always a generous tipper, later admitted he was tempted to write “no tip” just to see the look on the waiter’s face, but his better angel prevailed.
We had an early brunch and had a dining room to ourselves. The service was great and the food excellent. We could not have been happier!
Mt. Vernon in is a must-dine venue if you go to Mt. Vernon or the surrounding area. A special treat every time we visit. Our most recent visit found the menu greatly reduced with several of the traditional outstanding choices were missing. All COVID related. Excited to go back when these restrictions are eliminated. Staff warm and attentive. Atmosphere is delightful.
