Charming and family-friendly eatery with delicious, reasonably priced food. Great vegetarian choices and yummy chicken tikka.

It has been several years since I last ate at this restaurant. I had enjoyed it very much in the past. This time the food was simply awful. There was little flavor, even the naan was horrid. I will not be back and would certainly not recommend it to anyone. The one edible item was the Samosa.

This was our first time at Mt. Everest, and we had an excellent experience!
We got our table quickly, staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. The tandoori chicken was spectacular. Very moist, very flavorful, and not too spicy.
We'll go back soon.

Right on Telegraph near UC Berkeley. Nice variety. Good service. Big portions of freshly made food. Very happy with the quality. Extremely reasonably priced. Perfect for a group and there is plenty to share.

The food, background music, and motif really set the stage for a wonderful "Himalayan" feast. The service was excellent as was all of the freshly prepared offerings ranging from no hot spice to very hot; your choice. Also great for kids since they can make the dishes not overly spiced. Had a memorable dinner before "The Berkeley Playhouse" showing of "Bridges: The Musical" (also 5* by the way). Try both of them for a perfect night out!

Very enjoyable place. The servers are great and food very good. We enjoyed chatting with our server about Nepal. If you like spicy, you will love their hot sauces, delicious and hot.

I love the Indian spiced tea, and chicken Tikka Masala; and they always keep your water glass full!

Chicken Momo dumplings were excellent and 8 is plenty for $10, good value.

Lamb Korma was fantastic, incredible flavor from the blended spices and long simmer.

Special deep fried zucchini appetizer was pretty good but wouldn't order again.

Palak Paneer a big miss! Frozen spinach in a watery tomato type sauce (a dull dark green color) and homemade cheese curd was not flavorful. Couldn't get past the nasty stringy frozen spinach taste and texture... not the beautiful bright green and creamy type we expected.

A lot of the dishes are similar to things I've seen at Indian places, but several were quite novel. The beverages were very good, especially the spiced ginger-lime and rose-berry-lemon coolers. The Kukhura Ko Sekuwa (a tandoori chicken dish) and the Malai Kofta were also particularly good. Also, the honey naan is interesting -- having something a bit sweet is a nice counter-balance to the spicy food. Everything was very reasonably priced, given the size of the dishes.

This is a great place to go for authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine-- all the dishes that we tried were delicious and well-flavored! I have spent months before living in different parts of India, and can say that everything here is quite comparable (and the Nepalese chicken momos are a must to try).

The restaurant is well decorated, and the service was excellent- servers were responsive and accommodating to our tastes. We came early during a quiet evening, hence the restaurant wasn't noisy at all.

Although this restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, it's a real gem. The inside is decorated nicely, and the servers are friendly and accommodating. But it's really the food that stands out -- it's really great! My friend and I tried that Nepali specialities, and they didn't disappoint. I can't wait to bring my family here the next time we're in Berkeley!

We booked a reservation last minute via open table for 10 people. When we arrived the restaurant was already busy and they seemed surprised when we were there but quickly jumped into gear setting up a large table. The service was excellent, the food arrived was very good and arrived quickly. We had a lovely evening, we would definitely go back if we are in the Berkeley area.

My chicken dumplings were good, but my companions' dishes were lacking in substance; a few small pieces of meat floating in sauce.
The service was poor in that my dish arrived after my husband finished his, I ended up bringing half of mine home. I think the worst part is the poor ventilation; my hair and sweater stank of pungent spices and oil, I ended up washing my cloth and took a shower even after driving home with my window down in the cold night air to get rid of the smell. Though the spices tasted and smelled good while eating, I didn't want to smell like my dinner. More candles or better lighting; we had to use our iPhone to read the menu.

Reservation wasn't even addressed. Could've walked in. Food was good. Server gave us 3 dishes when we only ordered 2 and swe'd ordered 3. It's all good in the neighborhood. We enjoyed the food and had lunch with the leftovers. Real Gold beer is a trip!!!

Indian food in the Bay Area has been getting much better in the last few years, and this place is raising the bar even higher. The "Kurauni Jhinge" special (prawns with milky almond coconut gravy) was extraordinary, and the Navratan Korma was rich and flavorful. The special naan (stuffed with coconut, cashew, raisin and cherry) was light, yummy, and crispy with no burnt spots, and the drinks (a lemonade and a lassi) were delicious and as beautiful as fancy cocktails.

The food was good but the portions are so small its disappointing and you can easily forget how good the food is because you're done in a couple of bites. Nothing else notable about this restaurant to comment on. Hope they will read the reviews and improve on the portions.

We had a quick meal here before heading to Berkeley Rep. The portions seemed small, but the bill was only $45 for 5 people! Food was tasty and not at all oily. Lamb and chicken tikka masala were both good. Wish we had tried some vegetarian dishes.

We were attending a concert nearby and needed a meal in the South Campus area. This restaurant appeared on Open Table and we decided to give it a try. We were surprised at the quality of service and the food. The staff was genuinely welcoming and very attentive. The diners were a mix of students, families and older couples such as us. We found the food to our liking, not spicy but tasty and well-prepared. Service was prompt and attention to detail was evident. We will return to try other items on the menu.

We took my niece there after her nurse pining ceremony and we had a blast. The waiter was awesome and the food was "off the hook". They had tons of vegan options which was great because both of my nieces are vegan. We will go back again, we highly recommend Mount Everest Restaurant.
