Mount Everest Restaurant
Large variety, delicious food, great value. BYO wine and corkage is only $10.
We had a fantastic meal. The flavors are so fresh and authentic, the sauces are divine. We will definitely come back.
Food was outstanding!
There are a variety of mean and vegetarian options and the vegetables are not an afterthought. The portions were more tha. Ample and we split several plates. Great dining experience
Food was ok, but now great and took too long to be prepared.
Only take away to dinner was I presented a $50 food certificate and they only gave me $45 off the bill. They said it’s due to taxes but it should have been deducted from pretax total. Food was good service was very attentive for a Saturday night dinner rush. I would go back and recommend to friends and family. They have great Nepal beers.
Despite having a reservation, we waited 15 minutes to be seated. Then, after we ordered the food over 40 minutes until the dinner and appetizers were served.
Overall the food was good. However, I will not go again due to the poor service
The main reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because cold air was blowing on us the entire meal and I had to wear my coat while dining. I noticed others doing that as well.
Both food and service was great. We particularly enjoyed the Daal Maakhani with black lentils instead of the usual yellow. Wonderful nutty flavor.
Hair in food , fatty meat, salty lamb. Service was just okay .
This is our second visit to Mt. Everest and it definitely does not disappoint! We chose this restaurant in the past due to its close proximity to The Berkeley Playhouse and decided to visit again. The food is delicious and the service great! The restaurant opens at 4:30 which makes it convenient if you have an early show time and would like to have dinner beforehand. It is also walking distance from the theater.
This place was great b/c it's walking distance to Playhouse & parking was not difficult. I don't understand why so many Indian restaurants have dry chicken in their dishes. Chicken Vindaloo, etc. big chunks of dry chicken meat. Is it sitting under a heat lamp ? Food was disappointing. Amazing that a restaurant cannot fix this issue with dry bland tasting chicken!
We had a party of 16 - everything went very smooth - food was very tasty.
It was the perfect place to meet up with friends for dinner. We all enjoy Indian food, so it was perfect. Really good food and generous portions made this the best place for our get together.
Unique and flavorful food. A little understaffed and slow. Parking is difficult. Nice size- big enough for a group of 8 but not noisy. Clean and nice but not luxury.
Thought we would try a new place. We were not disappointed.
Good Variety of food, generous portions, Nice selection of Indian as well as Nepalese dishes.
Excellent Indian food. Fast service. Well priced.
Charming and family-friendly eatery with delicious, reasonably priced food. Great vegetarian choices and yummy chicken tikka.
It has been several years since I last ate at this restaurant. I had enjoyed it very much in the past. This time the food was simply awful. There was little flavor, even the naan was horrid. I will not be back and would certainly not recommend it to anyone. The one edible item was the Samosa.
This was our first time at Mt. Everest, and we had an excellent experience!
We got our table quickly, staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. The tandoori chicken was spectacular. Very moist, very flavorful, and not too spicy.
We'll go back soon.
Excellent Indian food! Will definitely be back.
Right on Telegraph near UC Berkeley. Nice variety. Good service. Big portions of freshly made food. Very happy with the quality. Extremely reasonably priced. Perfect for a group and there is plenty to share.
Delicious, good presentation, pretty empty and at 5:30 on a Sunday despite being on Telegraph Ave.
The food, background music, and motif really set the stage for a wonderful "Himalayan" feast. The service was excellent as was all of the freshly prepared offerings ranging from no hot spice to very hot; your choice. Also great for kids since they can make the dishes not overly spiced. Had a memorable dinner before "The Berkeley Playhouse" showing of "Bridges: The Musical" (also 5* by the way). Try both of them for a perfect night out!
Very enjoyable place. The servers are great and food very good. We enjoyed chatting with our server about Nepal. If you like spicy, you will love their hot sauces, delicious and hot.
I love the Indian spiced tea, and chicken Tikka Masala; and they always keep your water glass full!
The dishes were tasty without being too hot, but there was too much salt used in all the dishes.
Chicken Momo dumplings were excellent and 8 is plenty for $10, good value.
Lamb Korma was fantastic, incredible flavor from the blended spices and long simmer.
Special deep fried zucchini appetizer was pretty good but wouldn't order again.
Palak Paneer a big miss! Frozen spinach in a watery tomato type sauce (a dull dark green color) and homemade cheese curd was not flavorful. Couldn't get past the nasty stringy frozen spinach taste and texture... not the beautiful bright green and creamy type we expected.
A lot of the dishes are similar to things I've seen at Indian places, but several were quite novel. The beverages were very good, especially the spiced ginger-lime and rose-berry-lemon coolers. The Kukhura Ko Sekuwa (a tandoori chicken dish) and the Malai Kofta were also particularly good. Also, the honey naan is interesting -- having something a bit sweet is a nice counter-balance to the spicy food. Everything was very reasonably priced, given the size of the dishes.
Very good food
This is a great place to go for authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine-- all the dishes that we tried were delicious and well-flavored! I have spent months before living in different parts of India, and can say that everything here is quite comparable (and the Nepalese chicken momos are a must to try).
The restaurant is well decorated, and the service was excellent- servers were responsive and accommodating to our tastes. We came early during a quiet evening, hence the restaurant wasn't noisy at all.
Although this restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, it's a real gem. The inside is decorated nicely, and the servers are friendly and accommodating. But it's really the food that stands out -- it's really great! My friend and I tried that Nepali specialities, and they didn't disappoint. I can't wait to bring my family here the next time we're in Berkeley!
The food was amazing the service was very good if I lived within the delivery area this would be a favorite on my phone list.
We booked a reservation last minute via open table for 10 people. When we arrived the restaurant was already busy and they seemed surprised when we were there but quickly jumped into gear setting up a large table. The service was excellent, the food arrived was very good and arrived quickly. We had a lovely evening, we would definitely go back if we are in the Berkeley area.
My chicken dumplings were good, but my companions' dishes were lacking in substance; a few small pieces of meat floating in sauce.
The service was poor in that my dish arrived after my husband finished his, I ended up bringing half of mine home. I think the worst part is the poor ventilation; my hair and sweater stank of pungent spices and oil, I ended up washing my cloth and took a shower even after driving home with my window down in the cold night air to get rid of the smell. Though the spices tasted and smelled good while eating, I didn't want to smell like my dinner. More candles or better lighting; we had to use our iPhone to read the menu.
Went there while up North...really liked it. The food was rich in flavour but was a tad salty for my tastes. Otherwise excellent.
If you order 'mild for children' it actually *is* 'mild for children'
Food makes up for so-so atmosphere.
Knowledgable staff with large portions of food we knew little about. Will go again
Excellent food. Attentive service.
Good prices.
