Food was delicious but it felt very rushed like they were trying to get rid of us quickly. They also sat us in the far back corner so we couldn’t really experience the ambiance.
Great food and drinks. Can’t wait to go again
Try the scallop dish. Delicious
We came for the burger, which was amazing (we’d previously only had it delivered). For that reason only, I’d go back. Nothing else was that great... the empanadas were good but not memorable; the fried rice was a joke. Honestly, inedible. It wasn’t cooked enough and had no zero flavor. The pork bowl would’ve been good if it had more meat and less pineapple. The short rib was tasty but a joke as a “large” plate. We were really looking forward
to this, but we left very disappointed. I can’t believe we spent almost $200 for such a lackluster meal.
There is not a great place to wait if people are running past their anticipated time to wrap up their meals.
Overall though, the experience was really good.
Five foodies went to dinner and ordered everything off the menu, basically. First every dish was phenomenal however the standouts were the oyster mushrooms, peppercorn shrimp, short ribs, calamari, kimchi udon noodles, japchae, wings etc. My daughter lives nearby and we wondered why she didn’t eat there everyday. Service was phenomenal with multiple servers clearing plates. Wish the place was bigger, open for lunch and had burger available at all times. Will definitely go back.
Great food and cocktails! Our waiter was very helpful as well.
Brunch was delicious, creative menu!!
The Mott burger lived up to its hype as being the best burger in Chicagoland. The brussel sprouts were seasoned well with bursts of flavor. Empanadas were ok and not much flavor in them. Pork jowl was excellent and paired well with the cabbage. The service was prompt and professional. This restaurant is a must try when in Chicago. Ensure you have a reservation as it gets crowded quickly.
One of my favorite spots in Chicago. I wish they were a bit more lenient with their burger serving policy and the drinks came out a bit faster (received after several small plates) but overall fantastic.
This is a top five place to go to us, our Family and Friends! Always have great food, drink and service.
We went on New year's eve and had a lovely time with the shared plates. The server was most helpful in suggesting dishes and the number to order. Definitely suggest the black cod as well as the rabbit laap. The rabbit is an underrated dish and is served room temperature. The wok smoked gai lan was great and full of umami flavors. The the kimchi and oaxaca empanada starter was nice and cheese without being too spicy. We finished up with the ricotta apple cider donut holes and coffee. It was fully satisfying and would definitely return.
Mott Street is easily in my top restaurants when sharing out my "fave places to eat in Chicago" list. I love dingin where your group can order a bunch of dishes and share it all- everything is so unique in taste and ridiculously delicious. I try to order new plates each time I visit, with a few staples that are always on repeat: Brussel Sprouts, Everything Chicken Wings, and the burger.
We loved our experience at Mott Street.
Food was absolutely phenomenal and the service was unparalleled! Will return.
The restaurant is cute and the food is delicious! Would definitely go back to try more dishes.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I liked the Unique menu & drink options. The menus said Happy Anniversary at the top, which was a very sweet touch. We ordered 6 plates to share. We had our small children with us and they tried and loved almost everything. The apple cider donuts were my favorite! Our waitress was wonderful! My 13 year old son who is a very picky eater, loved the short ribs especially, and said he hopes all our restaurants on this trip are as good as this one. Especially because it reminded him of food from Star Wars, lol!
Great date night place! The brussel sprouts were amazing.
The burger that people rant and rave about was way to sweet. Needed more acid/brightness. Would not go back.
The Mott burger was amazing everything after that was very underwhelming. I ordered a bunch of stuff as I usually do when trying a new spot and was very unimpressed with the food, however the server that I had was phenomenal experiencd and helpful with drink suggestions. 3/5 overall experience.
Great service and really appreciated that they remembered the note I left about my significant other’s birthday and gave him a complimentary dessert. That was so nice.
Mott St. continues to amaze! The food is outstanding, we rank each dish!
Didn’t live up to the hype
Went for brunch and truly everything was fabulous. Highly recommend the beer cured lox and the sour cherry French toast.
We went for brunch. Overall delicious. The Chinese broccoli dish was tasty. It too salty, otherwise great. My ids lived the congee and udon. Great service
The food was amazing and overall great night!
Server forgot a dish- he remembered after all other dishes had been served asking if we had ordered anything else... then we impatiently waited about 20 mins for the last dish that was clearly forgotten. Food was good.
My favorite brunch place! I would eat here everyday if I could! Everyone who works here is so great, I’ve never had a less than amazing experience!
Food and service were both great. They were accommodating with my same-day reservation change. Would highly recommend!
Thoroughly enjoyed brunch there. Fried rice is great, boat noodles were phenomenal. Great atmosphere.
The food was fantastic. We loved almost every dish we had - favorites were the scallops and noodles. We had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation, and there isn't a good place to wait. The bar is tiny and seats are reserved, so you stand pretty cramped in the restaurant. We don't love communal dining normally, but this wasn't too bad and we had the table to ourselves most of the time.
It took forever to get our food
This place is amazing! My wife and I used to live in Chicago and the first time we went was 2014. We made a trip back to Chicago this past weekend and wanted to visit our old stomping grounds. Mott Street has only gotten better and I can't recommend it enough!
Very yummy burger and eggplant
We didn’t know it was more like a shared plates menu before we arrived, but it worked out well for our two person party. Just know that the menu is broken into small, medium, and large plates and served more tapas style— not necessarily by appetizers or entrees. Food was amazing though, especially recommend the scallops.
Our server was so thoughtful and careful with my severe shellfish allergy. I am appreciative and grateful! Thank you for a great time!
Our waiter was great, food was all excellent. There for a birthday and their extra little touches made it special
So glad we finally tried this place! Everything was great and we can’t wait to go back. Yes it’s small so getting a reservation can be tough. We actually had a reservation for 9:45 the same day which we’d booked days earlier because it was the soonest we could get in, but they do have walk in availability. On the day of we’re were starving and decided to stop by earlier (around 8:00.) The wait for a table was 45 mins, but bar was open immediately and serves the full menu (plus their amazing burger which is ONLY available at the bar.) We sat there and got before our reservation time.
We had an amazing time! Joel never disappoints! One of the best restaurants in Chicago with the most knowledgeable staff and most fun environment!!
Came for brunch. Good sized portions and ambiance. For brunch would recommend sharing the coconut pancakes. I ordered the kimchi fried rice, it wasn't that good but I tried others' dishes and they had tons of flavor/textures.
Would come again to try dinner and their outside patio in the summer
