About Motor Supply Company Bistro
Located in the historic Congaree Vista with a heated patio and free valet parking, Motor Supply has been serving progressive, New World cuisine using classic French culinary techniques for over 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Wesley Fulmer, the kitchen's lunch, dinner and brunch handwritten menus change daily, featuring contemporary New American cuisine, with nods to Creole, Cajun, Southern, French and Asian cuisine. Motor Supply works with local, sustainable farms for produce, meats, dairy and more. Seafood is caught off of the SC coast, and all of our charcuterie, desserts, stocks, sauces and dressings are made in-house. The bar boasts an extensive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence-winning list (2006-13), imported, domestic and local craft beers, as well as an artisan farm-to-shaker cocktail list made from house-infused liquors, handmade bitters, barrel-aged spirits and locally-sourced ingredients and garnishes, mixed up by Head Barman Josh Streetman.

Motor Supply Company Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Never disappointed here, again, with out of town guests and last minute reservations everything was perfect. Very busy for a Thursday evening; however, service and food were excellent; it is our favorite restaurant to take guests and to go ourselves;
we always receive a Christmas gift certificate each year
as a present from family members as we request every year. Valet parking is a plus with excellent and polite attendant.
This has to be one of the finest restaurants in the Columbia area. From the hostess, the wait staff, and to the chefs everyone is very friendly. That’s a great starting point is their wonderful attitude. But that’s the beginning of a wonderful evening. The food is exquisitely prepared. The cocktails, beer and wine lists are impressive. Definitely will be back every time I’m in Columbia.
I am so mortified I didn't get our server's name. He was excellent and we tipped him for it, but I wish I could shout out to him right here. Every evening ought to be like this one. We were just a couple of friends/colleagues getting together. He met our every need, backed off when he noticed us in intent conversation, but came back immediately when we weren't. He was just the kind of attentive service you always hope you will get. Kudos to the establishment for a wonderful meal (the mussels were devine), but the entrees were too. Great time. I really enjoyed this.
Meh. For the price, I expect much more. The service was slow, and when the food finally came out it was cold. Also, the menu changes daily (which can be a neat thing), but out waitress wasn't up to speed on the food or what was being offered. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is nice for a date, fun business meal, or just a night on the town.
My Wife and I came here for our 1 year Anniversary and I was not disappointed. Not even once. The Champaign we selected tasted amazing and the pork chops where perfectly seasoned and cooked with some nicely seasoned greens around it. This place was amazing and we even told the owner it was before we departed and the waiter was excellent as well.
Great dinner as always. Had a late 10:15 reservation, but the place was still full. I had the duck two ways - the rare breast was perfectly cooked with the outer skin seared to a delicious crisp. The confit wasn’t quite to that level, but excellent in its own right. The wine selection was good, but was looking for a specific region in Spain and had to settle for a Portuguese Douro river red...these are first world problems. Motor Supply has been my go to in Columbia for 18 years.
We "discovered" MSCB over a decade ago based on a magazine article (Southern Living, I think) and we have been fans ever since. We don't come to Columbia often but we dine here every time we are in town. Creative menu using locally-sourced products - it's the best the South has to offer with a sophisticated flair. If you enjoy nouvelle Southern cuisine; then this is the place for you. Service is always impeccable. Wine list is good. Bar seems to be a big draw on weekends (maybe it's mostly walk-ins waiting on a table but they do stack 'em up at the bar and everyone appears to have a good time). We have only dined on weekends and I recommend you get a reservation (or join all the good folks at the bar for a while). Whatever your wait, it will be worth your time.
Our first visit and if we find ourselves in Columbia again, it will be a must! The Charcuterie was excellent for starters. We both enjoyed the pan seared redfish with butter beans and grits. Chocolate covered peanut butter bars completed our meal. Service was great and loved the enclosed side porch area.
We were disappointed in how long it took for our food to come to the table. It didn't seem crowded on that Sunday evening so we were baffled. Also the waitress seemed as if she didn't know if we could substitute a vegetable and was confused. She came back to our table twice to discuss this with us. Overall the food was excellent!
Motor Supply continues to be my favorite restaurant in Columbia. I would have given the food 5 stars but their Halloween charcuterie wasn't as fabulous as it has been in past years. Otherwise, really great service and Josh, the head bartender, never disappoints. Will be back again and again.
My wife and I ate here on a Saturday night and it was lively. The server said it was slow but it seemed like most all tables were used the entire time we were here. Not sure I would enjoy it on a busy night as it was very small. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and extremely helpful in her explanation of how the charcuterie was prepared, made it far more appealing to eat than the names would imply! The wine and craft beer menu was extensive, very impressed. Overall we would indeed come here again, just maybe not on a busy night.
