About Motor Supply Company Bistro

Located in the historic Congaree Vista with a heated patio and free valet parking, Motor Supply has been serving progressive, New World cuisine using classic French culinary techniques for over 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Wesley Fulmer, the kitchen's lunch, dinner and brunch handwritten menus change daily, featuring contemporary New American cuisine, with nods to Creole, Cajun, Southern, French and Asian cuisine. Motor Supply works with local, sustainable farms for produce, meats, dairy and more. Seafood is caught off of the SC coast, and all of our charcuterie, desserts, stocks, sauces and dressings are made in-house. The bar boasts an extensive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence-winning list (2006-13), imported, domestic and local craft beers, as well as an artisan farm-to-shaker cocktail list made from house-infused liquors, handmade bitters, barrel-aged spirits and locally-sourced ingredients and garnishes, mixed up by Head Barman Josh Streetman.

The kitchen was very slow! The server attempted to justified it by saying that special cook it. Hum i explained to him I go there often. It was slow.

Crowded. Our table was bumped several times by staff and guests. But the food was awesome. Amazing.

Great food and fun atmosphere. They were very accommodating to us as we added our son to make it 3 instead of 2 unexpectedly.

Great dinner as always. Had a late 10:15 reservation, but the place was still full. I had the duck two ways - the rare breast was perfectly cooked with the outer skin seared to a delicious crisp. The confit wasn’t quite to that level, but excellent in its own right. The wine selection was good, but was looking for a specific region in Spain and had to settle for a Portuguese Douro river red...these are first world problems. Motor Supply has been my go to in Columbia for 18 years.

We "discovered" MSCB over a decade ago based on a magazine article (Southern Living, I think) and we have been fans ever since. We don't come to Columbia often but we dine here every time we are in town. Creative menu using locally-sourced products - it's the best the South has to offer with a sophisticated flair. If you enjoy nouvelle Southern cuisine; then this is the place for you. Service is always impeccable. Wine list is good. Bar seems to be a big draw on weekends (maybe it's mostly walk-ins waiting on a table but they do stack 'em up at the bar and everyone appears to have a good time). We have only dined on weekends and I recommend you get a reservation (or join all the good folks at the bar for a while). Whatever your wait, it will be worth your time.

Our first visit and if we find ourselves in Columbia again, it will be a must! The Charcuterie was excellent for starters. We both enjoyed the pan seared redfish with butter beans and grits. Chocolate covered peanut butter bars completed our meal. Service was great and loved the enclosed side porch area.

We were disappointed in how long it took for our food to come to the table. It didn't seem crowded on that Sunday evening so we were baffled. Also the waitress seemed as if she didn't know if we could substitute a vegetable and was confused. She came back to our table twice to discuss this with us. Overall the food was excellent!

Motor Supply continues to be my favorite restaurant in Columbia. I would have given the food 5 stars but their Halloween charcuterie wasn't as fabulous as it has been in past years. Otherwise, really great service and Josh, the head bartender, never disappoints. Will be back again and again.

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday night and it was lively. The server said it was slow but it seemed like most all tables were used the entire time we were here. Not sure I would enjoy it on a busy night as it was very small. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and extremely helpful in her explanation of how the charcuterie was prepared, made it far more appealing to eat than the names would imply! The wine and craft beer menu was extensive, very impressed. Overall we would indeed come here again, just maybe not on a busy night.

Our server, Bianca, was perfect - attentive without being overbearing. Cocktails are inventive and delicious. Pork belly appetizer is so good, and perfect to share. The Cowboy steak was perfectly seasoned, but cooked slightly under temp. I ordered medium rare and got rare. Didn't stop me from eating it. My wife's porkchop was actually slightly overcooked and a little dry. She raved about the greens. Overall, an excellent meal and we will be back.

Another exceptional meal. We split a salad with honey-poached apples that was absolutely amazing. My wife had a perfectly cooked pork chop and I had a superb horseradish encrusted swordfish with just the right amount of kick. They were very accommodating to get us in & out before an event at the Colonial Life Arena. This is my 1st, 2nd, 3rd,... choice to eat at in Columbia.

Food was “good” not great. Steak was tough and over priced for the quality of the cut. Will likely not return. The shrimp dish was good but did not compensate for the other meals and mediocre service.

MSC is our favvorite place to go for a romantic dinner. The service is 5star as is the cuisine. The menu is hand written each day and the chef creates some absolutely I credible combinations. The cost is perfect for the service and selections you receive.

New menu daily which you can check ahead of time online, fresh local food. We had the steak special, tender, flavorful and the shrimp with grits, also outstanding. Service was top notch and friendly. This was our third time dining here, as we are from out of town, but is a top pick when visiting.

First time at this restaurant. Made last minute reservation on one of the busiest weekend of the year in Columbia. Despite the fact the place was overflowing with diners, the waiter was professional, energetic and entertaining. Took his time to explain everything. The cuisine is very creative and fantastic. The menu changes EVERYDAY. The everything we ordered was fantastic Fantastic use of sauces and rubs. Everything was spectacular.. Six stars out of 5, can't wait to go back.
