Located in the historic Congaree Vista with a heated patio and free valet parking, Motor Supply has been serving progressive, New World cuisine using classic French culinary techniques for over 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Wesley Fulmer, the kitchen's lunch, dinner and brunch handwritten menus change daily, featuring contemporary New American cuisine, with nods to Creole, Cajun, Southern, French and Asian cuisine. Motor Supply works with local, sustainable farms for produce, meats, dairy and more. Seafood is caught off of the SC coast, and all of our charcuterie, desserts, stocks, sauces and dressings are made in-house. The bar boasts an extensive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence-winning list (2006-13), imported, domestic and local craft beers, as well as an artisan farm-to-shaker cocktail list made from house-infused liquors, handmade bitters, barrel-aged spirits and locally-sourced ingredients and garnishes, mixed up by Head Barman Jake Smith.

The parking is very challenging, I was not greeted at the front, and there were two people at the desk. The waitress we had did a nice job. They give you very little ketchup for the Burger, but the burger was excellent, both salads were very nice, the salmon was delicious but the avocado dressing didn’t taste to be on the lettuce, the pear salad was the same delicious but no dressing to taste. The French toast is beautiful- cheddar cheese appetizer was delicious but for the amount it should be served with more toast- I’m sure they want to not waste anything but a bit difficult to have to ask for ketchup, dressing, toast, ice for the water- so this makes for many interruptions to a lunch

Everything about this restaurant hits the highest notes of fine dining. The location and valet service make it easy to access and enjoy worry-free parking. Hostesses are delightful, and the wait staff are professional and engaging. We truly enjoyed having Brandon as our server. The food and drinks were fantastic! With farm-fresh ingregients and chef-inspired creations, we enjoyed the best culinary experience since arriving in Columbia a year ago. Bravo, Motor Supply Team!!

our second time here. The food was superb, just as good as the first time. The menu is unusual and creative. Service was slow, especially for the entrees. The waiter had another large table. It was our 54th anniversary, and we were given a delicious creme brulee for desssert.

We had 2 lunches. One was a full salad and was quite good. The other was the pork lunch and the chef refused to cook it medium rare or as an alternative just a thick section of pork that naturally ended medium rare. My dinner was 2 sections of pork. One was marvelous and moist and the smaller piece was quite dry.

Food quality is excellent, but I do not recommend it if you have dietary accommodation requests. I requested no meat on the dish and it was not fulfilled. When I notified my server, it was not remedied at all. The server seemed to not care or understand the impact at all that I ate several bites of tiny pork bits cooked into the dish when I haven't eaten meat in 11 years. A weak, uncaring sorry was given and that was it. Still charged for it. Very disappointed in the customer service - not optimal or fine dining. I hope the management train servers to better understand and respect how important dietary accommodations are, especially when you're dropping $100 on a meal.

Food and service was excellent. Complimentary valet is provided. The appetizers are propperly sized to give you a tasty morsel without filling you up. For our entrees, we ordered the seafood dishes which were delicious and cooked to temperature perfectly. It is rare that you see restaurants pack flavor into seafood while maintaining moisture. The side of braised greens was unexpectedly flavorful and a nice surprise. For dessert, I recommend the olive oil cake. Moist and not overly sweet, it reminds you of sweetened bread and butter in the best way. Heather was our server and we had a wonderful time.

We were very excited to eat at Motor Supply Company Bistro after all of the great reviews. Unfortunately, we were left underwhelmed by the food. While no doubt it was well prepared, the "wow" factor just wasn't there. In fact, I was surprised that my red fish had more than a mild fishy flavor. The steak was well cooked, but felt like a steak you may be able to get any good steakhouse. I am a dessert person, but I did not order anything because nothing really stood out. The thing that impressed us the most was our server Heather. She was on point. Knew the menu inside and out, checked on us appropriately (gave us out space while making sure our needs were met), and always asked us if we were done before clearing off the plates or glasses. We have not had service like that in years, and we would come back to try this restaurant again just for the experience. So, all in all, overpriced for the underwhelming food experience but saved by the exceptional service.

I was sad to see they were serving a cheeseburger that was two thin paddies which were so thin that they could not cook them medium rare (server). Sad when restaurants choose to make things easier for the kitchen and not to meet customers preferences.

U of SC parents from Phila. Experience was fine enough. Very uncomfortable seating after a long day made us impatient generally. That being said the dishes were underwhelming. Appetizers were tasty. We both ordered beef as mains — there was a chef’s ribeye addition — and one was dreadfully over and my med rare was raw. We ended up not eating at the same time bc I sent mine back and it took forever! We will give it one more try, but we will visit other establishments first.
