Motor Supply Company Bistro
As usual, everything was wonderful. We all had steak, and they were all cooked to perfection. Josh’s cocktails were perfect.
All the staff were amazing. We had a reservation for later but they sat us early anyway.
We started out with the charcuterie board and a couple of house mixed drinks.
For our main course, my wife had the duck duo and I had the dry-aged ribeye. Everything was perfectly cooked.
Finished it up with a creme brulee for her and the cheesecake for myself.
We wanted to eat some legit fine dining without breaking the bank for our 15th anniversary and this place delivered in spades.
Very nice waitress and the food was really good! Recommend the pork chop for sure. The building itself is a tiny bit small and crowded for that reason
We had a wonderful first experience at Motor Supply over the weekend. We arrived at six and it quickly became busy.
Though loud and a bit crowded, we were still able to have a nice conversation throughout our meal. Upon arrival, there was a child playing a game on a device with the volume up quite loud. Management seemed to notice and nicely asked them to turn the volume down which I thought was great. Service was on point; there when we needed it and scarce when we didn’t, allowing us to chat the hours away. My favorite part of the meal was the cheesecake!
Our waiter, Eric, was spot on. Never too pushy but always there when something was needed. The food is just outstanding. Thanks for a perfect evening.
I have ate here a few different times and the food is always the best. It is one of my top two restaurants in the world.....yes the world. The Motor Supply Company is amazing food. You will not be let down ever.
It started with our excellent service from Stephanie and ended with the peanut butter and chocolate desert. The tile fish was out of this world. This is a must in Columbia.
Visiting from out of town, but I'll be back if I'm ever in the area.
Excellent! Stephanie was Great
This was not our first time here, but this time we were sadly disappointed. First we found out that they discontinued bread service. They claim to be a French inspired restaurant, but yet don't serve bread. So we ordered the cheese board as an appetizer because it had bread, but the crostini was so hard it was like eating pine bark. My Spanish octopus appetizer was smothered in a remoulade that overpowered any other conceivable flavor in the dish. The real failure was the 28 minutes it took from clearing the appetizer to having our main course tabled. First we had to capture the attention of our server, Eric, to remind him we existed. He brought the owner over, Eddie, who apologized but offered no explanation or even an offer of compensation. I do recommend the duck duo. However, the breast meat was exceptional compared to the cuisse. Thé Blackberry cheesecake was ...meh. Luckily this was just a Friday night dinner. Had it been a special night we would not be back.
We were a group of 6 and had a fabulous dinner. Delicious cocktails and food. The swordfish, scallops and duck were our highlights. Highly recommend Motor Supply. Our server was also fabulous- knowledgeable, friendly and very patient with us. All around a wonderful dining experience and meal.
Good wine selections, delicious food, recommend the creme brûlée.
It was a wonderful olde to celebrate an anniversary
Always interesting. Menu literally changes daily. Food prep is terrific wine list exxellent. Wait staff great will be back.
Food and service was great!!!
Motor Supply continues to be one of Columbia's great dining experiences. Great food, service, atmosphere.
My experience was fantastic and I would recommend this establishment highly for what ever occasion.
Outstanding! First time dining in Columbia and we couldn't have been happier with our dinner and drinks before at the bar with Josh, mixologist extraordinaire! We wanted to order everything on the New Year's Eve menu. I guess we'll just have to come back!!
The best restaurant in SC! This gem is housed in an historic building, where art abounds and a huge, stunning antique bar awaits. Motor Supply is competitive with the best restaurants in the world. The owner, Eddie Wales, has devoted himself for many years to making sure his restaurant is consistently the best, by making sure there is very little consistency. The menu is customized daily around the season and best available local ingredients - while also staying ahead on fresh ideas and trends for more more flavorful dishes. You would rarely, if ever, see a menu item you have seen elsewhere. The food presentation always evokes the feeling of fine dining, but the atmosphere is more one of warmth/welcome. Wine offerings are made with great intention and consideration of the menu items and patrons. The bar is beautiful - and Josh is well known for his cocktail creations and suggestions. Though the demand for reservations can be high, Eddie values his patrons and makes an effort to give them his personal attention and thanks.
Motor supply consistently serves fantastic food and the Sunday brunch is one of the best options in town.
always a great meal! treat yourself, start with the charcuterie and a craft cocktail (we always do).
My husbands steak was the ribeye special, his was good. Mine was the New York strip and was very tough not much flavor. The roasted root salad was very tasty , I would recommend that.
Wonderful menu choices and great service in a very eclectic and energetic atmosphere. Not too loud for date night, but fun enough for groups as well. Hats off to the chef for the wonderful cuisine and our server was amazing and fun!
Very delightful food selection and attentive server. Front door service was top notch. Will be going back again.
I love the variety on the menu with great dishes for omnivores and vegetarians.
Wow! Homerun. Everything was amazing. Hands down, the best duck I’ve eaten outside of France. The quail was delicious too. Those are really hard and we’re amazing. The guys had steaks and loved them. Cheese and pickle plate was also a nice selection. The deserts were simple but over the top execution.
The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and accommodating.
Ate during a power outage. The wait staff and management handled it admirably. Highly recommend this venerable Columbia establishment! One of my family’s favorites.
Outstanding service and quality food
Excellent food and service!
Amazing food and flavor!
Steak Tartar was wonderful. The grouper was delicious. Service magnificent, waitress worked with the chef to get our side dishes just saw we desired.
We loved a dinner out at Motor Supply. From appetizer to entree to dessert, it was all excellent!
absolutely a foodies heaven..............................................................................................
We had a great experience, we were a party of 7. The food was more quality than quantity and the service was great. There wasn’t anything we order that wasn’t outstanding. Only thing we are sad about is that we didn’t discover Motor Supply earlier in our daughters stay in Columbia at college.
Worth a visit when in Columbia. Quite busy in a good way I suggest making a reservation. My wife and I were very satisfied with our visit.
Everything about our night was amazing! The food and drinks were fantastic. The service was beyond great. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary and were greeted with a glass of champagne. Our server Eric went above and beyond to make our night perfect. Motor Supply never disappoints!
Motor Supply continues to be a go-to place for dinner, especially with out-of-town guests. Regardless of where they are from - San Francisco, Tampa, NY - or their food preferences, the unique choices offered at Motor Supply delight everyone. Thanks for still being exceptional after all these years. Happy 30th anniversary.
Overall good meal. Grill was closed, so steak wasn’t available. Wait staff and atmosphere were outstanding. Entrees and first course were excellent, but sides were underwhelming. We left not feeling full.
