Amazing breads and Saag Paneer . Nice to have a great Indian in a neighborhood with average restaurants
Moti Mahal Delux is a cozy, quiet restaurant with very delicious (according to several friends who also went there) Indian food with excellent service. I highly recommend it for dates and conversations.
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The manager and staff were insanely disrespectful. They would not seat us despite having a reservation, but seated others when they walked in. When we finally got seated, the manager was pretty rude and ended up seating us in some bad area with a broken table and no space. We were so disrespected, we had to get up and leave. For the record, I’ve had the food here previously and it wasn’t too great either.
I was seriously disappointed in the Moti Mahal Delux. For starters, the only chicken cooked in the traditional tandoor was appetizer size. The rest of the offerings we ordered were in VERY HOT sauces...not talking temperature. And the naan was stale, maybe fixed at lunch time or yesterday! The main dining room was so dark and stuffy. I prefer Sapphire near Time Warner at Columbus Circle or some of the many in Little India 28 - 25 St. And Lexington Avenue. Seriously. And it was plenty expensive...$50 each for the three of us.
Excellent meal. All dishes were outstanding, the service was gracious. One of the top Indian restaurants in the city.
This has become our favorite Indian restaurant, and we have to come every trip to NYC. Must have crispy spinach leaves and lamb chops!
Good food. Reasonable prices. Portions are small compared to other places so order extra in advance if you’re hungry.
Always good. Delicious fresh food
Highly recommend the all you can eat brunch, delicious and very good quality . The service is impeccable.
They brought their old manager back and the food has returned to its previous excellence. Very excited about being able to go to this excellent restaurant on UES.
I am 70 years old but our birthday celebration at Moti Mahal has to have been one of the best dining experiences of my life. There were ten of us, ranging from 2 to 92 years and as soon as we set foot in the lovely low lit (loved that) restaurant, every single server automatically welcomed us by immediately giving the little one something to eat and to do. It only got better from there on out. Absolutely the most efficient and attentive and relaxed but vigilant service any of us could remember. We have nothing but superlatives to add. The food was plentiful and tasty, but when my friend found hers too spicy, somehow one of the servers noticed and without hesitation, brought her something milder. With no charge. The total for all of us was $200. No alcohol, but still-very reasonable. Such kind attention we got. Go there! We will return!
Fresh and intoxicating flavors, excellent service, appropriate wines -- a wonderful dining experience, but noisier than desireable.
Omgoodness the food at Moti Mahal Delux is unbelievable. We went for a birthday lunch so that our 2 year old could join us. The staff was so kind to him, so lovely. Our group of 7 opted for the table brunch where they just bring a selection of things, enough for the table and it did not disappoint. The food tastes fresh, it's authentic and we were full. I can't wait to return.
Service on arrival was poor. Not particularly friendly. Waiter failed to accommodate requests and was very blunt. Chicken wasn't the greatest - seemed to be dark meat and quite chewy.
Other food was tasty. Very average experience over all, but the chicken entree marred it completely.
One of the best Indian foods we have had in the city. Ambience is cozy and really nice, service was great, and food was the real highlight for us! Both the Kofta and the Daal Makhani we tried were authentic and well made. Lemon Rice was also yummy!
Great food and wonderful service. An unexpected find on a trip to NY.
Great food in a nice ambiance. A little expensive but nice for a date or special occasion.
The food was outstanding, only that the managers were a bit rude.
The food is outstanding absolutely authentic and delicious, but the manager was super rude to us, neways we were concerned only for the food. But highly recommended for the paneer and biryani and also mushrooms
Loved it. Always do.
Friend order wine and sent it back cause it was off. Waiter agreed. Food was excellent. Fish dish was overpriced for what it was.
The food here was excellent. Very authentic Indian. Atmosphere could have been better. Staff was very attentive and caring
The food is really tasty and far above the average NY Indian restaurant. The service however leaves much to be desired. On the cold Monday eve we went for a 7 pm dinner, the dining room was sparsely filled and the wait for the main dishes long. In fact the warmed plates brought to table in advance of the course were ice cold before the dishes were served, (they did replace them on request). The request for the bill was handled promptly, but the credit card and signed receipts sat for a long time before I brought them to payment area.
The food was very flavorful, a relief because I’ve been eating disappointing Indian food ever since my favorite (local) place closed down.
This Restaurant is not local for us, but we were happy with our experience and will be back!
They were having one large, very loud party, and the place is quite small, but we were given a table in the corner next to the window, so it didn’t affect us too much.
One of the best Indian restaurants out of India. Authentic, great food.
Our lovely meal began with really good appetizers- Anardhna chicken tikka in particular. Biryani, korma was spot on. Naan is the best- we enjoyed plain, garlic and kheema. Gulab jamun was memorably good!
Horrible service and VERY DIRTY. They need to pay attention for the cleanliness. Also, the service was horrible and it was freezing inside. No heater? Just nonsense.
Excellent, authentic Indian cuisine with a wonderful ambience and a heckuva Wine list. Definitely recommend!
The food was delicious but mine was lukewarm due to bad service. I'm sure it was sitting in the kitchen for five minutes before they brought it out. I asked for several things I did not get until 5 -10 minutes later. ONe time I had to hunt the waitress down to bring it. But the food is delicious!
Terrific food! And really nice and knowledgeable staff. Definitely highly recommended!
Went for Saturday buffet.
Service was hurried and patchy.
Buffet was served at the table.
Food was cold and unflavorful.
Do not recommend.
Moti Mahal Delux was a delightful find. Although we generally go to Indian buffets, this is the elegant option (not buffet style, tho). The food may seem to be in smaller portions but the flavors, spice and selection is just amazing. This was an outing with friends and we were all so satisfied. Only concern was if we had enough room on the table for all the dishes we ordered. No wonder Moti Mahal Delux has the reputation it has around the world. I highly recommend the original butter chicken and the chana masala.
Food was good, however, the portions were very small, this making it expensive to dine there. I wouldn’t go back.
Delicious food!
The restaurant is too dark! With food that delicious, it would be great to be able to see that gorgeous food!
Fantastic food. Although I've never been to India, this is by far the best Indian food I've eaten in the US. Each item that I ordered was memorable. Naan - superb.
Our food arrived 45 minutes after we ordered. The waiter lied and said it was because the restaurant was crowded. We later found that it was because our order was sent out for delivery. The manager was only slightly apologetic.
Delicious. Each item was unique, mouth-watering, with complex flavors. Service needs improvement in the sense that they agreed to bring certain foods first but then did the opposite and everything took a very long time to come out, so they were nice and attentive but seemed to have trouble understanding and fulfilling the requests. Still, the exquisitely prepared food will bring me back.
Authentic tandoori chicken, friendly and attentive service, but average décor and poor wine list.
They were mobbed. Had a large party of Indian diners which was encouraging but also noisy and they could not handle it efficiently. We were pushed to place an order and then waited a long time until our food arrived. Will keep going thee for their amazing lunch but will have to reconsider dinner in the future.
Family dinner. Very very good food.
