Moti Mahal Delux Ratings and Reviews
They were mobbed. Had a large party of Indian diners which was encouraging but also noisy and they could not handle it efficiently. We were pushed to place an order and then waited a long time until our food arrived. Will keep going thee for their amazing lunch but will have to reconsider dinner in the future.
The food at Moti Mahal Delux was outstanding. I enjoy trying lots of different cuisine and sharing plates with my companions, and this place is perfect for that. The only knocks I would give it were the service was a little inconsistent (20+ minutes between our app and our entrees; we waited for awhile to be asked about dessert or the check) and the place was quite loud and crowded. We were seated close to a group of older diners who all used the flashlights on their phone to read the menu. For 20+ minutes. Shining right in my face. A smart waitstaff would recognize this annoyance and come over to help those diners make some decisions and put away their glaring spotlights.
One of my favorite restaurants in NY. As soon as I booked my flight from Florida I knew I had to visit Moti Mahal at least once. I met a few friends there and had an absolutely amazing meal. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered which spanned from spicy to mild, vegetarian to meat based. All of it was delicious!! The service was impeccable and the food was amazing - you cant ask for anything more.
Absolutely the best Indian food in NYC! Flavorful dishes with the right amount of spice to enhance the fresh ingredients and the dishes are never greasy. The breads and condiments are outstanding. We have tried almost all Indian restaurants from midtown to Upper East side and none compares.
The staff was very attentive, almost to the point of annoyance, that they came and asked how things were or if we needed anything so frequently. My chardonnay by the glass was awful. The prosecco was so sweet my girlfriend couldn't finish it. My biggest complaint was the music piped over the speakers. Although I couldn't hear the songs, I could hear the pulsating beat throughout dinner. It just added to the overall noise level. Very annoying. If I want dance music, I will go to a club, not dinner where I am hoping to relax and have a conversation. I don't understand that mentality.
By far some of the best indian food in the city! Great atmosphere and quality service. The staff was very helpful with ordering enough food for the table. Everything was delicious and high quality. Very fairly priced as well. Highly recommend the butter chicken! But you can't go wrong with anything you order!
I've come to Moti Mahal several times since it's opening and have never been disappointed. Excellent flavors and quality of ingredients and preparation. Hospitable and accommodating service - called to increase reservation count above what the app would allow and was painlessly accommodated. Upscale ambience. Quiet jazz music allowed for conversation all the way down there length of the table of 9. Pleasant decor and scent of jasmine (from the hot hand towels) as well as spices.
I especially recommend all the lamb and goat dishes, the fish, the chicken korma, the okra and other vegetarian dishes. They are a bit different than other Indian restaurants, especially in that the textures are better preserved and the spices more aromatic without being too hot. Garlic naan is worth cheating on your diet. The butter chicken was a bit dry to my taste, but everything else I would definitely order again. Equally good place for meat and vegetarian dishes. Lunch special is also great, includes plenty of variety.
Looking forward to returning with new friends!
We had been going to this Restaurant at least every 6 months and had always enjoyed food in spite of prices, which for the ambience and service are on the higher side.
However, this time we decided to go for Lunch and invited a newly wed couple ( American bride) and that is the biggest mistake we made. The food was below average and the Service pathetic. Had it not been for the embarrassment, I would have asked them to reduce the Tips to 15% (pre-charged 20% in the Bill) or just pay 10%.
On enquiring, we were told that the Chef is different during lunch and that is the reason for different taste (what about Service).
So please be careful for Lunch!
The restaurant was very worn looking. The cushions on the chairs were torn and the place just looked dated. There was a strange smell that lingered throughout the restaurant . The service was poor, they brought a warm bottle of rose which was the only rose they had to offer and then took forever to bring ice for the bucket to chill the wine. We ordered the shrimp Pakoda which was very rubbery and tasted worse than frozen shrimp, couldn't eat them. They also served the main course WITH the appetizer. The wait staff seemed inexperienced and didn't know what they were doing and the food was bland. Would never go back and would not recommend it to anyone.
Authentic Indian food! The food was excellent, especially the Anardana Chicken tikka and Chicken biryani which was reminiscent of how it is cooked in India. The meat was soft and juicy. Service was prompt with the servers frequently checking if everything was ok. I would recommend this place for a date, business meal and everyday dining. Your palate will definitely be satisfied. Hope they can open something in Downtown as well.
My second visit to this restaurant. This was to celebrate my birthday with my family. I picked this restaurant because of my prior visit.
The shrimp appetizer is amazing, the naan was great, the tandoori chicken was wonderful if a bit small.
Overall I love this restaurant and will return.
Overall the experience was good. All the food was mild flavored which is fine because that's how I like my food. The only thing I did not like was that I ordered a paneer sabzi which had a lot of food coloring added, so much so that it left a stain on my hands for a couple of hours. Other than that the taste was as it should have been. There, overall experience was fine.
We love this restaurant. The food was amazing: full of flavor with the right mix of spices to have it taste just right. Great for vegetarians as well as non-Veg. The menu has several creative items as well as authentic India food down just right! The service was Fri fly and efficient. We loved all of our dishes, especially the Sag Paneer. We have been and will be going back to this place!
Excellent food with attentive service. We love the tandoori, the nan, the Railway Mutton, the chicken with black pepper and pomegranate, lemon rice. One problem we have is that we like the dishes that we've had before so much that we don't try so many different items.
