The last 20 years have brought on many changes in the North End. The number of restaurants have gone from the single digits, back in the early days, to close to a hundred. Also, the old Central Artery that had divided the North End for so many years, has since disappeared.
Mother Anna’s has now become the gateway to the North End. On a beautiful summer night, a table on the now famous patio gives customers a view of the Boston skyline that can only be experienced at Mother Anna’s. Mother Anna’s should not be missed!

Wonderful evening with a group of friends; great food, wine and atmosphere
So disappointed in this place. We were sat and then no one even came to take a drink order for over 20 minutes. The food tasted like it was all frozen. The drinks were bland. I was hoping for authentic Italian in the north end and this just wasn’t it. There were many more restaurants that I wish we had tried over this place.
food was disappointing, doesn't seem authentic Italian to me
The food and service was outstanding. I haven’t had Italian food this good in several years. Also, everything is very reasonably priced. If you are in the North End make sure you try it out!
Best Italian restaurant in the North End.
Very accommodating on a rainy night when ALL of the outdoor tables had to be empty. Good traditional food with lively hosts - service not particularly friendly but did the job just fine.
it was fantastic
Antipasto very average and overpriced. Eggplant rollatini very good but sauce was very chunky and not as I remember.
Awesome, great service and good food.
Family get together.
The food and atmosphere in the restaurant were great and the service was amazing. Our server came and checked on us multiple times and offered some great suggestions. I would definitely recommend coming here.
Our Daughters law school graduation! Thanks for helping make the day extra special!
It was awesome! I was outside of my home and ate on dishes I don’t own. Plus the food was amazing.
The atmosphere and service were decent, but the food was appalling. The antipasto came from a can, and then they used the canned artichokes in everything and they weren’t even rinsed. So the wretched favor of them was everywhere. The only redeeming quality was that I found lobster shells in my lobster ravioli so at least that was less likely to come from a can. This was literally the first time I haven’t been able to at least power through a meal before, and I’m a big guy.
Outdoor seating was relaxing. Service was accommodating and attentive of food allergies. Food was good and would definitely go back for an after-work hang out.
We booked a party for 15 for my wife’s 50th Birthday on 5/15/21 during a time when most would not entertain that many people at once. They made sure to accommodate us by seating at tables within close proximity to each other. The service was exceptional and the food even better! Thank you very much Jason and Juliana for making my wife’s special day even more special! We will be back! Mike Mac
Atmosphere was welcoming and open . The food was fresh and delicious . We will definitely return !!
Food was delicious & service was excellent.
Best Gnocchi I’ve had in the North End.
Great food, service and outside eating area! The quality of the food was excellent and you can’t beat the value!
Food was amazing. I had the Scrod Parm and gluten free pasta. Everything was delicious and service was terrific.
The restaurant is very dated and while this can be charming, it just didn’t lend itself to be welcoming. The clear shower curtains hung for COVID protocols were halfway falling down and looked awful. The fish tank I’m the wall was one of the most disgusting things I’ve seen. It was absolutely filthy. The food was disappointing as well. Not horrible, but not what I expected.
Excellent service and food
Service was terrible, we waited an hour and a half to get our food.
Always always delicious !! My go to place for any special occasion
We had a Mother’s Day lunch outdoors on the patio. The service was fine and the food was good. There isnt much to get wrong with pasta and sauces, and everyone liked their meals. I’d probably try some other restaurants in the area before we go back, but overall it was a good meal.
Dinners were great, and we enjoyed our Mother's Day
Great for family get together, specially outside.super recommended
We all had great food, service, and the weather cooperated for the Mother’s Day lunch. We could not have been more pleased and we’ll be happy to recommend Mother Anna’s. We’ll be back for sure!
We ate outside and loved all of the food! Portions are big so we were able to have leftovers. Service was super quick even for a Saturday night.
Amazing! My friends and I love this place for a fun, quality meal!
Horrible service... took a half hour to order a drink, waitress served two tables who came after us before taking our drink order... she recommended a seafood special which I sent back after one bite.. it threw my stomach off soo much I just ate a salad yet she still charged me for the meal and didn’t even apologize for the food being DISGUSTING... We sat outside which was beautiful but only because of the location of the restaurant... I would never recommend this place to anyone.. from the wine to the apps to the actual meal it was just overall disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves.. If you are looking to dine honestly there are so many other options we went to after that were amazing.. STAY AWAY if you are looking for a decent meal.
The host wore his gator around his neck instead of covering his mouth and nose. I made a reservation and they did not seem to care about it because I was helped last and they were not ready for us at all. It took almost 40 minutes for a waitress to come greet us and ask for our drink order. The nicest people there were the bus boys and the other woman that were not waitresses because they made sure to set up our table and even get the attention of our waitress. The manager also wore a mask below his nose.
We were taken care of by the waitstaff and the owner. Nicest people ever!
The food was good, solid italian fare not fancy.
Would recommend it purely on the staff alone, but Grandma's Fra Diavolo was kickin'!!!
Waitress never took our orders after an hour. Food was medicore at best. The only nice part was we were the only ones there and had some private time. Wish we got a better waitress, would've been fine if we didn't have to wait an hour to get our food put in and given to us.
All of the food our group ordered was very good, and the canoli filling the freshest I've had in years. Our young waiter was fantastic, and another young waitress seemed to sincerely enjoy chatting with the, um, aging, members of our group. The great (loud) outdoor location and fabulous staff made it a great night.
The food was lovely but the service wasn’t great. That’s expected for a Saturday night in Boston though.
We were the only people at the restaurant for almost 30 minutes & we felt like they could have been a bit speedier & more attentive.
We were there celebrating our daughter’s engagement. We had a reservation for the patio but it was a very windy night so they graciously moved us inside. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The only reason I gave ambience a lowered score was because it was hard to tell with covid precautions in place.
