Brought friends from Sacramento for our Birthday dinners. Well worth to trip. Love the view. Miss being able to pick my own table. Food was excellent.
We always come here for special occasions and Moss Beach Distillery never disappoints. We had a great evening for a pre-Valentines Day dinner with another couple. Because we started later than normal, by the time we finished dining they had already shut down the romantic and cozy outside firepits. But when they saw that we had hoped to sit outside for a while with an after-dinner drink they unlocked the door and re-lit the fire pits just for the four of us. What a great evening! We're definitely going to keep coming back.
We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate my father's first visit to California. The service was excellent, the seafood amazing, and the view of the Pacific Ocean was stunning. After dinner we went downstairs and sat by the fire pit and lingered awhile longer. We had quiet seating in a private room, which was perfect for conversation.
Moss Beach is a good place for lunch when the weather is beautiful or when one wants to watch the ocean with a great position. The food is a comfort food type place. The wait person we had was very helpful.
This is a totally unique place - former speakeasy that had a friendly ghost. Stunning views of the pacific. Near to exceptionally scenic hikes. One of a kind spot to watch sunset. Enjoy the views from inside or outside on the deck, which is wonderfully dog-friendly! Food is delicious, and drinks are special with that incredible view. It's a must see!
We had made reservations and requested a ocean view table. When we arrived we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes for a window table. The restaurant was very busy. We were able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the ocean view while we waited. Hardly and place to wait inside the restaurant.
The service was good and the food was very good and very large portions. We especially enjoyed the clam chowder. Nice place to take visitors for a different dinning experience.
Great specials for locals on Friday nights. It brought us back in to the Distillery after a long absence. Nice 3-course meal at good price. A table for 2 with a view -- an excellent way to end the week.
It was quiet and we were just a little late to watch the sunset go down. The staff were friendly and the food was good with good portions.
Love this place for the ocean view. A must for a special occasion. Food is very good and local ingredients are used extensively for menu items. Excellent service - wait staff and support staff are very attentative, allowing for a casual and relaxed dinner. Will definitely dine here again.
We enjoyed our dinner and the ambiance. I was Impressed that we found out that they were short staffed and our service never suffered for it. It was a very pleasant experience.
Great Service by Chris! Beautiful window seat with gorgeous view. Delicious food, and fun times with Blue Lady visiting us and trying to get my earring, which fell off, but landed in my hand! We will be back...Great Birthday experience!
Great food, service and views. A classic in a fantastic location.
Excellent food, great service by Susan made for an enjoyable dinner. Weather prevented enjoying the ocean view, but the location makes for great ocean views. Well done!
Great gluten free experience!!!
We enjoyed the view, the food & the service. The only problem is that the restaurant is very cold. Fortunately I had a good warm sweater with me.
We had a great birthday celebration and the service was really good -- they reserved a nice window table for us and brought us a piece of cake to share for the birthday celebration!
Seated promptly. Wonderful service, great food.
Thank you
The menu can use an update. There is nothing spectacular about the food or a signature dish that's a must have.
Celebrated anniversary on New Years Eve with a cocktail and glass of wine before dinner consisting of a prawn appetizer, beet salad, Filet Mignon steaks, Champagne toast and Distillery Decadence dessert. Distillery honored my request for a window seat even though only we two sat at a table for 6. Distillery provided a complimentary photo and dessert. Hostess, bartender, busboy and waiter were superb.
It was my wife's birthday and they made it special. It was perfect. Thank you!
Perfect for an unhurried late afternoon lunch on New Year's Eve. I don't know why everyone flocks to Sam's Chowder House down the road, when this is much less of a zoo, location is quite comparable and the food is actually better.
Love this place, food is always perfect and the ambiance is amazing. Great customer service too.
We made this reservation for a very important business meeting . We had always eaten in the main dining room so there was no reason for us to think that we would be placed anywhere but there. We chose moss beach distillery for the ambiance and the view. We did not get this because we were sat in the bar. We were hoping for an elegant dining experience and it felt like eating at any old bar or grill. We had empty glasses for most of our meal and our server acted like they would rather be somewhere else. I am very sad to have to write this review as before this lunch we had had some pleasurable experiences with Moss Beach Distillery. We were very disappointed with the quality of the food which seems to have gone downhill since our last visit. We were embarrassed in front of our 7 corporate partners to have suggested this restaurant.
This place is definitely a 2 thumbs up. Me and my wife went here and was treated with great food, great service and totally GREAT VIEW. Really friendly service from the receptionist to the table and even after the meal.
We went back this December (2016) with our kids and totally had the same experience. My kids love it too. My youngest love their clam chowder. Fish and chips are a HIT. So as their Shrimp and Chips. Love the Panko breaded oysters. Yummmmy writing this makes my mouth watery.
Definitely a place to go back to.
Excellent chowder, oysters and fish and chips. The view is amazing. Special place and so much better than Sam's.
Always the best. I go here every time I visit my sister in the Bay Area. A gorgeous spot that can't be beat. Don't miss the Anchor Steam battered artichoke hearts. Amazing.
Love this place with beautiful view and very interesting history.
Food was good but a little heavy. Would love to see local options on the menu. Expected a better selection of specialty cocktails... based upon the name of the restaurant. Unfortunately we arrived after dark and could not appreciate the patio.
The dinner was great. The Hotess was fantastic in getting us a window table. Service was great!
A great value for the area, good food and ample parking
Christmas Day dinner was the occasion and it could not have been better!
Great place for a special occasion or just to hang out
One of the must-see spots on the northern California coast. Friendly and efficient wait staff, and a fabulous hostess. Stunning ocean view. Great food. Free parking. Open when other restaurants are closed. Always on my list for a romantic meal.
Lovely view, interesting menu with lots of seafood options. Love the fireplace patio option with the Blankets! Definitely be back again!
The food was excellent, service was great the only issue my girlfriend had was that she was not to happy with her cocktail otherwise this place is great
Moss Beach is one of my all time favorite coast side restaurants in Northern California, and the sunsets are beautiful! Even on a cooler day, sitting out by the fire pits with provided blankets is a fantastic, cozy experience, but ya gotta love the sounds and views of the endless motion of the waves hitting the sand... The service, food and beverage choices are absolutely worth mentioning, but really, waves and sunsets...an excellent experience!
We have loved coming to the beloved Distillery many times over the years.... Been a while. The view, ocean breezes and setting never changes ... so lovely.
I would sum up our lunch as: Average... which was a disappointment to us. The food was simple and definitely not special ....especially considering the prices. Same with wine.
Flies in the dining area, unfortunately, detracted from the ambience we expected.
The multi-folded "menu" drew some laughs at the table. An upgrade needed, for sure.
Like most people, we love the location and expect a special outing. Prices, for many, are secondary if the food and environs are tops. Not the case on this trip.
Quality and Value were missing on this day.
A visit to the Moss Beach Distillery? Historic, scenic, friendly, delicious!
Great service, especially for a party of 12 that turned into 15.
Always take out of town guests here for lunch. It 's always wonderful and fun!
