Mosaic at Mandarin Oriental - Kuala Lumpur Ratings and Reviews
Food was so-so. Nothing to shout about.. except for the desserts. Desserts are exceptional with lots of choices..wasn't aware that drinks are not included, except for coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Service some are ok and very attentive but one of them left me with a bad note in the end because he seemed to be impatient to clear our plates when we didn't even finished yet! Even came in between my husband and i when we were taking pictures.
Best lamp steak i had before, juicy and tender and if u request for cook in medium rare that will be prefect serve and the waiter will assist to send to ur desk while order.Don't miss out of the fresh oyster and the salmon sashimi,it was well cut in serve.Strongly recommend for every of the dessert they make in high quality, especially the baked custard and the dark chocolate fondue, trust me u will be happy and forgot abt the calories while u enjoying there during ur's dinner buffet at night with the beautiful klss view with sofa seat and all these food :) worth the price, try it out !
I made a dinner reservation on Sunday to celebrate my mother's birthday. The customer service was superb. I was very impress by their service. The food spread on the other hand was a let down. The food was awful. The tom yum doesn't taste like tom yum at all. The sashimi wasn't fresh and most of the food was cold. It was really a let down. The floor was a little slippery so i had to very extra careful walking around. The ambiance was great, my request for a corner table facing the fountain was fulfilled. I wouldn't recommend the dinner buffet but i would dine in again because of the excellent service and probably order from the ala-carte menu instead.
The seafood is fresh although hubby mentioned oysters are pretty small in size. Dessert is hit and miss.. some good and some so-so. Services at the noodles section is very good as the server is friendly and helpful! Most important of all the price is affordable as we also manage to get a discount for using the Citibank card! Very glad we asked! Overall we paid around S$40 each for one of the best buffets in KL Malaysia. Worth it!
1. Majority food are curry based.
2. Limited choices for seafood. Olysters are small and not juicy. May be left their birthplace for quite sometime.
3. Very dried cakes and limited choice too.
4. But luckily the salad bar is nice.
5. Same price as Lemon Garden Cafe, Shangri-la's buffet lunch but the food spead is very much lesser and made us very disappointed to have buffet dinner there.
I loved the array of desserts. The Chinese dishes were a disappointment. The chef is not Chinese or not familiar with the 'soul' of Chinese dishes? The Indian dishes were above average but the Western and Japanese were nothing to write home about. The saving grace of the lunch buffet were the helpful staff except one.
Well, overall the service of people there is really up to standard, undeniable. The ambience there is fantastic. The salad bar got lots of variety, as well as the Indian food, is delicious. The mushroom soup is really rich of taste.
BUT other then that, it really much disappointed. The oyster is really not fresh, the prawn is not fresh. The eastern Chinese food corner is not attractive at all. The carbonara fettuccine from western food corner is really not up to the basic standard, it is water diluted, is not creamy(is like it should not happen in hotel standard). There are a lot of improvement area as a 5 star hotel restaurant facilities; for the food, I think Shogun Japanese restaurant is much more better.... I will not come back again if there is no improvement; and won't pay that kind of price for the food.
i've been dining at Mosaic quite regularly since becoming Elite Club Member. Most of my dining experiences had been great. Just to point out the sitting arrangement inside the restaurant. Probably some new arrangement can be set because it can be quite crowded and chair hitting another one when trying to stand up and leave the chair (especially near the bench area). And also open kitchen concept can make the place quite smelly at times.
Variety and quality of food below par. Not worth the price or the hype. Was surprised at how normal the type of foods offered. At most the buffer is only worth double digit. In comparison with E&O Penang and Rasa Sayang Rosort, these are the kind of buffet that deserve such hype and price.
Even though the buffet dinner was highly recommended but unfortunately I was a disappointed with a few things.
1) Serving Staff was very attentive and check on us a few times.
2) Wine was good.
3) Ambiance was nice and pleasant.
4) Dessert section was good in terms of variety and display. Staff at the station was attentive as well.
5) Selection of coffee and tea was good.
Things to improve: (Food was not value for money)
1) Selection was not that great especially the chinese section. I was hoping to see some dim sum but there was none. The dishes were not very attractive looking either.
2) On the day I went, there was not much crowd but there is no reason for the chefs not to check the food and ensure it is still warm and the grill items such as satay, tandoori chicken were not dried out.
3) There could be more varieties offered for the Malay and Chinese section.
4) Apart from the grill station staff, other chefs that was in other stations were not promoting any of the dishes when I was walking around...they could have promoted the dishes more.
