Mo's A Place for Steaks - Milwaukee Ratings and Reviews
Milwaukee is lucky to have Mo's for it's a classic steakhouse with a beautiful atmosphere, fine aged steaks of all sizes and shapes to fit any diet, and outstanding service. Given the poor parking downtown, Mo's valet service is truly a blessing as well. This is an impressive place and worth the visit.
As always the service and the food were superb. We had a party of 5 and the everyone tried something different, from the California rolls and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers offered some great flavors. The house salad and the wedge salad were fresh and crisp, and the steaks were so flavorful and delicious! Well worth the price!
So glad we finally tried out Mo's. Some of the best steaks we've ever had. . . . slightly better than Mr B's and definitely better than DreamDance. Service was amazing but without the stuffy restaurant feel. Ben was the best waiter ever. Food timing was perfect. It's getting harder to find great restaurants with this kind of service, regardless of price. Keep in mind it is for pricey, but did not disappoint.
We went here again on a Friday night only because it's the only non bar food restaurant within walking distance to the Riverside theater. The atmosphere here is very odd, a mix of old and dated with super modern. I noticed the restaurant installed new tile flooring but failed to clean the dirty drop ceiling, and the kitchen... well If you get a chance to see thru the kitchen door, dont pass on the chance, this is what you are eating.
The Lobster Bisque was tasty and hot, however there was no lobster meat and the bowl is only 8 ounces for $11. The brussel sprouts were flame-burnt, black as ash, ( inedible ), the bacon sprinkled on top was deep fried and tasted like fried fish. The grilled Asparagus was tough and woody, as they did not cut the white woody ends off prior to flame broiling them. They too were charred from the flame broiler. The roasted potatoes were deep fried in Friday's fish fry oil. The Sicilian chicken was over cooked, dry, rubber like. The $25 Sicilian chicken is 2 bread crumb coated breast that apparently are deep fried, then topped with what tasted like chef boyardee pizza sauce and topped with a slab of plastic cheese that is flame burnt (again black as ash ). The $35 Pesto Salmon was tasty, but over cooked and very dry.
Dinner bill was $125 for the aforementioned, I only go here because there are no other fine dining options near the Riverside. Ive tried the Mo's bar across the street, but again, that is all deep fried 2:30am bar food at its best.
We were staying at the Iron Horse Hotel and took a 6 min Uber drive over. The staff was fantastic. There were 4 of us out for a birthday dinner. We got a special desert at no charge and the food could not be better. The bill was very reasonable for the food and service. We will definitely be going back.
Mo's is my husband and I favorite place to go when we are feeling fancy! Our anniversary was on 12/6 and to dine at Mo's was a no brainer for us. They always have the best service and food is delicious! The place is nice and one time we were there, they had live music. It is a great upscale restaurant. I would just suggest to keep it in the more upscale rem, enforce some kind of dress code. There has been people come in in jeans and tennis shoes. I feel this can make the overall climate turn into a casual sports bar feel. To keep it a fancy, upscale dining experience enforce a dressier dress code.
I love Mo's a Place for AWESOME steaks. My son recently moved downtown and I traveled from the West Coast to see his place. We ate at nearby Mo's and I was astonished by the quality of the beef, the service, great martini, happy service. What a lovely evening. Now I think of my son's place as "near to Mo's" and am encouraging him to be a regular! BTW, the lobster mac & cheese and the cheesecake for dessert are simply divine.I also loved the beet arugula salad - amazingly fresh and perfectly dressed. I think I'll visit my son again and take him to Mo's A Place for Awesome Steaks. BTW we had the Wagyu beef and thought it well worth the extra cost.
I dined at MO's with my brother and Dad on the evening of December 1st just as we arrived to Milwaukee. From the very start the service was outstanding. Our service yes of Kate and Colleen (I hope I am getting those names correct) was remarkabley attentive. They found out that we were heading up to Green Bay for the game for my dad's birthday, and went all out to make it a top notch experience. They even capped off the night with a complimentary dessert and round of cocktails.
The food was great, but the service is what will make all of us reccomend MO's to anyone visiting Milwaukee.
Thanks for a great night!
Best restaurant ever! The service has been impeccable. The bartenders shake your hand, introduce themselves and ask/remember your name. The valet staff goes above and beyond-we once parked three blocks away and the valet was willing to go get our vehicle in the pouring rain! The waygu is worth the money and the pepper jack Mac and cheese is to die for! Highly recommended!!
I was more than pleasantly surprised by Mo's. We ate here because it was close to the Riverside Theater, but loved the food, and will be back again. The meal started with lobster ceviche. Our main courses include filet mignon, crab legs and scallops. The steak was tender and well seasoned, and the crab legs were great. if I had any criticism, maybe it would be the scallops. They were mediocre. Beyond the meat, the sides were wonderful, too. We had a double baked potato, truffle fries, and brussel sprouts.
An added bonus....while the food was upscale, as was the restaurant, it had a Wisconsin supper club feel, which was fun.
I can't wait to go back.
Fantastic personalized service. Equally Fantastic selection of steaks. Ask to see the meat tray to get a sense of what each option looks like. We were eating light so we had the 4 oz. Filet which was good, but we would probably opt for a ribeye or upgrade to the higher grade next time. I also got the two bacon wrapped scallops that were outstanding. The sides are very generous and need to be shared by two. The chocolate chip cookie dessert is made fresh and served warm, soft, alamode, and drizzled with warm chocolate — perfect for two. Drinks are a bit pricey. Atmosphere is upscale and elegant with friendly servers who treat you like personal friends. Located on the corner next to the Riverside Theater, it is the perfect before or after place. Although we live over 150 Miles South, we would gladly return to eat here again.
A friend and I had a lovely meal at Mo's tonight. All aspects of the meal exceeded our expectations. The steak was prepared perfectly and both side dishes were delicious and shareable. The 4 oz. filet was the perfect size. We'll certainly be back. Service was well-timed and pleasant.
