Mo's A Place for Steaks - Milwaukee Ratings and Reviews
Honestly my score would have been all 5’s except my steak was good not fantastic. . However my husband’s was the best he’s ever had and everything else we ate from start to finish was fantastic. Our servers were attentive and well informed . We sat upstairs which was much quieter than the main floor . This is a special event restaurant for us as it’s quite pricey , but worth every penny!
My boyfriend and I got the 8oz and 12 oz filet and they were amazing as is. The sauces on the side were great as well. Sauteed mushrooms were awesome, small and flavorful. The mac and cheese was another great side!! Strongly recommend for a special occasion or in need of an amazing steak!
We were there for Valentine's Day. We had to sit very closely between two tables and the table on one side was a group of noisy women so it wasn't necessarily romantic. They really should have separated the couples from the large groups for such an occasion. The server struggled to get me my drink due to the tight fit and it was pretty awkward. The couple two tables down arrived about five minutes after us but got their drinks before us, however the drinks were good. The lobster bisque and steak were delicious but the scallops were just a little chewy. The salad was not impressive. The meal was too expensive to get iceberg lettuce with a couple cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. I mean come on. Overall it was a good meal but I don't think we would go back again for a romantic occasion. I would however go back for the food another time.
After the initial confusion with the hostess (we requested a table for two, lower level by the windows...when our table was ready, we were in the middle of getting drinks at the bar and said we'd be a few minutes (this was 6:45, or res was 7:00pm) - by the time we reached the hostess stand, our table by the window was taken and we ended up right next to the kitchen door), everything was great. Service, wine, food, value were all exceptional. French onion and lobster bisque soups were a highlight. They did send us home with a complimentary dessert (I imagine to help compensate for the table mix up)!
I just wanted to leave this review mostly to let you guys know that I was there on Friday 1/26 and I ordered a pan seared salmon and a side salad. My mom also ordered a side salad. I got very sick about 3.5 hours later after eating there, and I am not sure if it was the salmon filet that made me sick, but it could have been, and there isn't an explanation. I am absolutely fine and still very much enjoyed my dinner there, but my mom encouraged me to let you guys know just in case. Thanks!
Excellent food!! Best steak I've had in a long time. Mo's onion strings and twice baked potato completed my meal and it couldn't have been better. My spouse had the pan seared salmon, roasted asparagus and house salad. All was very good. Valet parking was a nice feature on a winter evening. We will certainly go back to Mo's!!!
My filet was done perfectly and so tender though my husband said his strip steak was a bit chewy, the truffle oil/parmesan french fries were delicious. Our waiter Jesse was so pleasant, friendly and attentive. We were seated upstairs which is much quieter than the downstairs bar area. Overall, we had a great dinner and would go back when in Milwaukee again.
Milwaukee is lucky to have Mo's for it's a classic steakhouse with a beautiful atmosphere, fine aged steaks of all sizes and shapes to fit any diet, and outstanding service. Given the poor parking downtown, Mo's valet service is truly a blessing as well. This is an impressive place and worth the visit.
As always the service and the food were superb. We had a party of 5 and the everyone tried something different, from the California rolls and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers offered some great flavors. The house salad and the wedge salad were fresh and crisp, and the steaks were so flavorful and delicious! Well worth the price!
So glad we finally tried out Mo's. Some of the best steaks we've ever had. . . . slightly better than Mr B's and definitely better than DreamDance. Service was amazing but without the stuffy restaurant feel. Ben was the best waiter ever. Food timing was perfect. It's getting harder to find great restaurants with this kind of service, regardless of price. Keep in mind it is for pricey, but did not disappoint.
We went here again on a Friday night only because it's the only non bar food restaurant within walking distance to the Riverside theater. The atmosphere here is very odd, a mix of old and dated with super modern. I noticed the restaurant installed new tile flooring but failed to clean the dirty drop ceiling, and the kitchen... well If you get a chance to see thru the kitchen door, dont pass on the chance, this is what you are eating.
The Lobster Bisque was tasty and hot, however there was no lobster meat and the bowl is only 8 ounces for $11. The brussel sprouts were flame-burnt, black as ash, ( inedible ), the bacon sprinkled on top was deep fried and tasted like fried fish. The grilled Asparagus was tough and woody, as they did not cut the white woody ends off prior to flame broiling them. They too were charred from the flame broiler. The roasted potatoes were deep fried in Friday's fish fry oil. The Sicilian chicken was over cooked, dry, rubber like. The $25 Sicilian chicken is 2 bread crumb coated breast that apparently are deep fried, then topped with what tasted like chef boyardee pizza sauce and topped with a slab of plastic cheese that is flame burnt (again black as ash ). The $35 Pesto Salmon was tasty, but over cooked and very dry.
Dinner bill was $125 for the aforementioned, I only go here because there are no other fine dining options near the Riverside. Ive tried the Mo's bar across the street, but again, that is all deep fried 2:30am bar food at its best.
