We were extremely disappointed with the overall experience. It started off side ways when we arrived on time and had to wait 10 minutes even though we had a reservation. And when we were seated the maitre d' said "You two" follow me - really? He couldn't even be bothered to keep track of the 2-3 groups who arrived at the same time we did!
The service was the highlight - we had a very accommodating, knowledgeable waitress who saved the evening for us.
The wine list is huge and impressive but totally overpriced (3.5 to 4x what you would pay at the Liquor Store in some cases - at one of our old favs, Delise Court, the owner purposely kept the margin down on his high end wines because he wanted people to drink them - not at Morton's!).
The shrimp cocktail and bone-in rib steak were both excellent but pricey. Don't go for the matchstick fries unless you love truffle oil (note to the chef: it's an overpowering flavour...). For my wife the killer was that they couldn't even be bothered to trim off the ends of the asparagus. They were totally uneatable so we had to cut them off ourselves. Not so bad but when you are paying $500+ for a nice dinner you should expect the kitchen to pay attention to these little details...
Another downer for me was the cinnamon added to the sugar on the rim of my Spanish coffee. Don't get me wrong, I love cinnamon flavoured coffee but not when I already have brandy in there!
Was visiting from out of town. Have been to mortons in Chicago and Cleveland before. Know it has an impeccable reputation. Was disappointed that the visit didn’t compare to the other two properties and not in a good way. Steaknwas great, potatoes warm at best, brussell sprouts warm at best. Waiter not very friendly and basically felt we were being rushed out the door. Hair on the tablecloth.
Very mediocre steak house but it used to be a lot better many years ago. The bar staff was in attentive and busy squabbling over cutting fruit and you could feel the tension come through
Our waitress was the highlight of the night and very professional which made my overall reviews highly
Would I go back no. There are far too many better options in Toronto for the the same money or less
Best food, best service!! always. My favourite restaurant
My desk server/waitress is very nice and friendly!! But the front desk, valet parking guy and manger at the front are super rude, not friendly! Not like!!
Fantastic dinner for our anniversary.
Excellent staff provided a fun and memorable event.
Amazing food and service as always!
The food was enjoyable; however, the service was very disappointing. Our server came to the table few times and was not successful at creating a comfortable atmosphere. Our table left a cash tip and the server appeared to be under the impression there was no tip left after receiving the credit card payment regardless of the fact he was told the gratuity was left in the check booklet... he then walked away from the table and shook his head. This was very unprofessional and inappropriate. I definitely would have been happier with a better experience in regards to the service.
Well our experience was a bit of a disaster because as soon as we sat down, the power went out. Very unfortunate as we were all looking forward to a steak night at Morton’s!
Of all the steakhouses to select from, one cannot go wrong with this institution.
