Morton's The Steakhouse - Toronto
The entire team from the Managers to the waitstaff did a great job. Steaks were perfect. Carrot cake is the best in the city.
Beautiful setting. It was intimate and quiet. Service was excellent and food was superb!
The first course was very good. Our waiter was also very good, but steaks (which were good but not great, for a steakhouse) arrived without sauces and the potatoes gratin side dish. When the potatoes showed up 5 minutes later, they were not just cool, but actually cold, as in refrigerated. Tthe waiter sent the manager over, ostensibly to apologize and make amends. The manager took the 2/3 empty serving dish away and brought it back, presumably reheated. We had more or less finished our steaks by this point. I had expected that maybe he would have brought a new dish, as the serving of potatoes on each of our plates was not edible (seeing as they didn't reheat themselves while sitting there), and heating up the 1/3 left in the dish wasn't really an approach I would expect a diner to take, much less an expensive steakhouse. So, I explained politely to the manager that this approach was not really acceptable and nor was it acceptable that we ate our steaks without a side dish. He asked me what I wanted him to do. I should not have to negotiate in this situation. He should have a) apologized, taken our steaks away, hit reset and brought us a new main course when the problem first arose, or b) apologized, comped our bill without hesitation, apologized again, and offered us some sort of incentive to return. Instead, he looked annoyed, walked away, comped the main course, sent the waiter to tell us, and didn't acknowledge us leaving. How does this guy have a job at a fine restaurant? The waiter seemed mortified. We tipped him as though it was a good meal. Not really his fault, even though he did allow the manager to step in and screw it up. Hopefully he will take care of things himself next time. We won't return. Really disappointing experience and with so many great steakhouses in Toronto, we will exercise other choices from now on.
High calibre product, attentive staff and great service always provide for a lovely evening at Morton’s.
Very expensive. The steak was lovely but the vegetable were very expensive for such a small portion and they were only warm...
staff were all excellent
Everything was better than expected....
My husband’s favourite restaurant....
If you like noise so you have to yell to be heard, order your steak medium rare and it comes medium well, and pay 3x the cost of wine at the LCBO - Morton’s I’d your place.
Best service - Dee
Everything was nice.
Definitely a nice place for occasions. They have a birthday menu which I found so cute. Nobody really has that lol. The service was overall AMAZING. They never forget you and make sure you are satisfied! Food was very good!
Great menu and excellent service. Our server was impeccable and didn’t miss a thing. Thank you.
Amazing. I always enjoy my time at Morton’s
$300 for 3 ppl and just one glass of wine no dessert or coffee. Plus we shared steaks.
I have dined at Mortons all over the USA and the Toronto location is the same great quality but the most expensive (even more than NYC or LA).
Prices need to be adjusted.
My wife and I have been to many great steak houses in North America. Weve lived in Toronto for over half a century and never been to Morton’s. Outside of the service and great attention by our waiter, the food was subpar for the price.
I expected much better. Next time, back to Ruth’s Chris, or the best bone in Veal Chop at Tutto Bene, (Thornhill).
Ps I rarely right a poor review. Pick up the pace Morton’s.
Great food and great service! Love to try Morton’s in different towns, Toronto was great!
We visited Morton's for a special occasion (birthday) and they provided each of us with a personalized menu. We started with the Tuna Tower served with tortilla chips, which was excellent. One of us had the New York steak, which was tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. The other had the black cod in miso sauce, which was also excellent. Morton's offers their legendary chocolate molten cake complimentary on your birthday. Unfortunately, this came not as hot and not as molten as advertised, but still rich and delicious.
We found the service a little too fast, as each course immediately followed the previous one.
Another fabulous night at Mortons. The steak was cooked perfectly. The staff as always very attentive.
Peter is the best GM/ Maître d’ in toronto
Always delicious. The service is terrific.
Morton's never disappoints. Quality of service from Leanne and Dan fox is always? Outstanding! The food is consistent and always top quality ingredients. From the martinis to the wine to the steaks, sliders, wedge salad and tomato salad, you can't go wrong . My kids beg for mortons and at 5 and 8 they know quality. Thanks for always delivering a great date night and family experience, mortons.
We love Morton’s !!!!
Celebrated our sister in laws birthday! Morton’s is one of her favourite restaurants and it didn’t disappoint!!!!
Lovely evening out to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The staff treated as as if we are regulars and we appreciated the special touches (customized menu; dessert) to celebrate this special occasion. Thank you!
We came at 7:30 for lobster night due to an e mail sent advertising 2 pound lobster reasonably priced. Reservation made week before but we were told no lobster just tails which is always on the menu. We could have ate somewhere else then. Very disappointing for myself and my guest
The steak was not cooked well at all. When you're paying that amount of money, you want things done properly.
It was great as usual.
Rack of lamb not good. Over cooked
Great food but prices are very high making a dinner for 4 without wine over $400.00.
Thats NYC London and Paris prices in Toronto
As a very loyal client to Morton's and as someone who visited most of Morton's branches over the US in the last twenty years, this has been the worst visit to Morton's ever. Not only was the food not at all to Morton's standard, and the fact that the plates smelled very bad, but what was worse was the manager (Peter) behavior which was really unacceptable.. .. Unbelievable how such a person could be a leader for one the landmark places when it comes to steak. His attitude, behavior and response to our request to alert the table next to us to be a little bit quieter because they were creating lots of noise which made us really uncomfortable was unbelievable, the guy refused to talk to them sighting that they will cause problems and will cause a seen for him as if we are dining in a law level place and not in Morton's. He also did not have the courtesy to come and talk to us and he sent the waiter instead to deliver the msg. When we confronted him he did not even acknowledge the fact that he was mistaken.... This was really one of the worst experiences we had as a family ever.... My advise as long as Peter is there please do not attempt to visit the place you will not get the Morton's experience.... Very sad
Poor beef, laughable mozzarella proscuitto, and asparagus was old
The host sat us at our table with no menus and walked away, 7 minutes later the server came and asked what drinks we would like that’s when my husbands asked for menus for drinks and meal as well.. my caeser came in a wine glass, lobster bisque had no flavour, I had to add salt and still could t eat it. all our steaks were burnt to charcoal (except my sons Manhattan) and were ordered medium, we didn’t want to complain just eat and leave. The bread was stale, the side dishes were delicious however.. desert was fine.. my husband ordered a long espresso which came in a large coffee cup and could see right through it. It was watered down coffee of some sort, after finally complaining about his espresso the server let us know that they do short espresso only and had to add water to it to make it long.....!!?? Will not come here again.
Fantastic food and the greatest service (thanks again Suzanne!)
Overall excellent food and service
Excellent meal. Great Service.
Good dinner. Great food
Been coming for years and never been disappointed.GREAT PLACE
Outstanding food and Meagan our server was great.
Only problem was a group that brought in 3 children under 5. They were horrible. Running around. Afraid they were going to bump into someone. Like the staff carrying food. Also extremely loud.
Wish Morton's corporate would just not allow children under the age of 8 years in at dinner.
The manager was very nice as was the rest of the staff.
Was there on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was fairly empty which was nice as there wasn't the din that normally accompanies a busy establishment. As per usual, the food was fantastic. The steaks were done to perfection and the starters were all amazing as well as the sides plus the yummy desserts.
My only complaint was the 'server'. He bothered me to no end and was extremely snooty and his comments were uncalled for. Two people in the group wanted to share a large steak and asked if it could be cut in 2 and made to their specific likings. He replied that normally when the restaurant is busy they would never do that , but since it wasn't he would relent and let it happen. Ugh, made me sick, like he was doing a huge favour. He suggested that we order a second side of asparagus as it only comes with 6 spears and that would mean just one for each person. But 2 of the people in the group ordered a meal that came with asparagus so there was no need to order the second one. He did notice this and said there would be no charge.
I have been to Mortons many many times and have always had an excellent server who went above and beyond to make the experience special and to accommodate you in every way. This was not one of those times and it just sort of put a damper on the occasion for myself.
Always a fun and fantastic experience. Kids and I sat in the bar area. Service was terrific. Happy place, great food!
