Morton's The Steakhouse - Singapore Ratings and Reviews
Morton's is supposed to be a high end Steakhouse. In our opinion it isn't even close to meeting that standard. Our steaks which we ordered medium rare, were served blue. We returned the steaks, there was no word of apology from the serving staff. When they came back they were still poorly cooked. The stakes were chewy and lacked flavour. We gave up eating them, when the staff took away out plates they didn't even ask if we had enjoyed our meal; I guess they knew. If this were a budget priced restaurant, I would still have been disappointed, at over S$120 per steak (USDA bone-in Ribeye) I am beyond disappointed, I feel cheated.
The service and food was so disappointing. The stuff served the appetizer without cleaning the table. They cleaned the table after we asked multiple times. The steak was served on the warm plate (~50 degree C). When we finished the half of the steak, the plate was cold which affect the taste of the food.
Even the manager offered to reimburse the entree, but SGD 200/pp is not worth. Waste time and money only.
For what the prices are for several dishes on the menu, the quality is quite poor.
To be really honest, I think i could make my steak taste better at home :)
Besides that, for the price, you would expect some service, instead of dropping the menu and checking every minute if you made your decision yet....
Not worth your penny's
Great ambiance. The service was quite good, although the waiters didn't provide us with some items like soup spoons even though we ordered soup(had to ask for it). Would have appreciated if the server ask us if we wanted fresh ground black pepper, but we settled for the pepper on the table since nobody came to offer.
The steak was done perfectly, really tender. As it was my date's birthday, the service for that was really good(picture, customized menu).
I came to Mortons for a birthday lunch. The restaurant called me in the morning to confirm the reservation and offer a complimentary chocolate soufflé for the occasion. We ordered two set lunches with the prime rib and the portions were extremely generous. We had a glass of wine but the wine glass came with a lipstick stain. The staff replaced the wine after our feedback. When the prime ribs were served, the staff forgot about my additional truffle butter and I had to wait till I got the attention of the staff to request for it. The staff seemed confused about the truffle butter and it took a while to get it served. We didn't quite enjoy the chocolate soufflé as it tasted quite mushy and soggy. However all the food served from the set lunch were well cooked and tasted great.
Morton's is THE place for dry aged steak in Singapore. As a steakhouse, nothing else comes close for quality and standards of food. Our steak was done to a perfect medium rare, was tender and tasty.
We did think that the service could be warmer. Wait Staff could afford to spend a little more effort in making recommendations for both appetizers, food and wine.
I've been here 6 times, and I think it still serves the best steak in Singapore.
Morton's steaks are top notch, hard to beat among the many steakhouses in town, especially the centre cuts. Side dishes are also very good together with a fantastic dessert selection. My only complaint is the inordinately over-priced wine list along with ridiculously expensive corkage charges.
First Visit for my birthday and It was a pleasant experience n doubt.
Cosy Ambience, Attentive Service Crew, Food was definitely the highlight. The Prime Ribeye was juicy, and it was done just the way I would like it to be and it was nice to have a soufflé for my birthday with a photo taken.
The Warm Chocolate Cake was the bomb and I would have that any time.
Hopefully the consistency will be there when during my next visit.
The food, compared to other steakhouses in Singapore, was good but not so good that we would return. We felt the food selection was not up to date and was really what would've been on the menu 20 years ago. Of course you want to offer the staple items but jazz things up a bit with some modern sauces or new ways of cooking the food.
We felt the ambience was tired and lacked a feeling of modern specialness. But please, keep the tablecloths! :-)
The staff were very friendly and tried their best to please us but they could have been more attentive and knowledgeable about a total customer experience.
We felt that overall, we would rather patronize other steakhouses with more relevancy, outstanding flavors, and better value.
Previous visits to Morton's for special events, we were treated to personalised menus and desserts. However, this visit we were celebrating our engagement but there was a general lack of care from some of the staff members. Maybe it was a miscommunication but we felt generally ignored by the front of house. Only our server was excellent and make his best effort to make our meal a memorable one but we felt it was communicated to him of the special occasion.
The food as usual was excellent but expectations of better preparation by the staff and the dissappointment of the lack of it left a sour taste in our mouths. Hoping that their staff can be more vigilant in the future. It only takes one bad memory to replace many food ones.
will be back again for their onion soup and if their age dried steak is available. highly recommend for those really on steak quality and a place for special occasions. really appreciated on JJ service and patience in explaining their menu and speciality to my family, esp the kids. really special and specialise service for JJ. thanks for Mortons team. my family and I had a great time dinning at morton's steakhouse.
have been patronizing Morton since 2009.
first time in 2016 and was disappointed due to:
- taking away the initial introduction of different cuts
- service staffs are not as genuine as previous
- could not get medium rare correctly cooked even on second try (first try was more medium, second try was more rare)
- apologies were made but didn't bother to offset any dining costs/dishes
overall, I had better experience with Morton in 2015.
Not full seating on X'mas eve tells alot on the drop of standard in Morton Singapore.
Management team, PLEASE improve as there are aplenty of choices in the Singapore F&B scene
Ambience: Uncomfortably dark (why?) feels so outdated.
Service: Up to par, attentive, polite
Food: Over priced, under impressive. $43 for scallops unjustifiable. Biggest disappointment was my wife's filet steak, over cook, grainy, and did not fulfill the photo image of this signature dish. Taste and quality did not justify over priced dinner. Compared to a Lawery, everything from salad to main course was inferior.
However, the attention given to my daughter for her birthday was memorable. Souffle was a brilliant way to end the meal, and a highlight.
Appreciated that the server made the decision to deduct the cost of my wife's dinner, but this will still not make me want to return.
Summary: Morton's did not live up to its reputation. I feel its living on its past history as an expensive speak easy cigar smoking restaurant. Time to update the image. I suspect if most of customer had to pay themselves ( and not expense it) you would lose that audience. There are far more better alternatives and better value. Lastly, quality of meat not the same as in the US.
Estra long wait for food. Got in at 8pm and main meal was served close to 9:30pm. In- between the starters was so boring and restaurant was noisy. Cannot complain too much about the noise though cos people are there for celebrating something and it's a Friday evening. Overall, it was the waiting time in-between that was frustrating. Will probably not visit for a while after this event.
Everything was good especially the service crew, except that the lobster tail that we ordered was a bit rubbery due to overcooked and just tasteless, and it was communicated to the service crew , and they took it seriously and informed the kitchen about the feedback.
