Great place for a reunion with business friends
II am a regular restaurant guest at the Morrison-Clarke. The food and service are always top-notched! I love Ogla, my waitress! She's always friendly and pleasant.
Amazing food! Only issue we had was a table of four with a couple and a older teen daughter and maybe 10 year old son playing cards. Yep, playing cards at the dinner table. Son on his iPad the entire time. Parents, teach your kids about fine dining. Maybe you will even get to know them. Anyway, great service, great atmosphere. Again, wow, the cuisine was quite extraordinary. Bravo chef!
As usual, Morrison-Clark's restaurant exceeded my expectations. Sijan and Mary took excellent care of us. The crab fondue is wonderful--it's mostly lump crab meat that is lightly dressed in a creamy cheese . The meat loaf was an individually formed portion. This is not your typical "hotel" restaurant. If you prefer a slightly more casual setting, go to the bar area, which has its own menu and is just as great. It's a nice spot to go with neighbors or friends and to socialize, eat, drink, and linger as long as you like.
A marvelous. quiet get away just steps from the Marriott. Avoid the noisy bars and crowded restaurants and enjoy a great meal at a reasonable price. Good wine list and excellent pairings. This is our new go-to DC restaurant.
Came to celebrate a birthday over a Sunday lunch and had a wonderful time. Food and service were great, and the hotel and restaurant are really special. Not your typical DC Sunday brunch scene that is always way too crowded, super loud, and over priced. Here, everything was great. All 6 of us left very happy and plan to return.
It was ok. Good, but not great. Unless I need a quiet restaurant in that area for a business meeting, I don’t expect to make a special effort to return.
It was a wonderful evening. This was the first time here for my guy’s birthday. The food was great, the ambiance was amazing, and the staff was very respectful and friendly. I would definitely visit this place again.
Fantastic food and our server Mary made my husband’s birthday very special. Thank you!
We've had brunch at Morrison-Clark twice in recent weeks and look forward to dinner one day soon. We chose it as much for the atmosphere as for the food. At least on mid-day weekends, it is mercifully quiet and amenable to serious conversation. Seating is comfortable and the staff is attentive. As for the food: eggs benedict with crab cakes is awesome, the omelets are delicious, and the French toast is over-the-top generous and rich. Can't ask for more than that at brunch.
The ambiance was great, especially for Valentine's Day. Our server seemed rushed and did not even greet us for several minutes, she was focused on other tables and only stopped by because my wife was glaring at her. They had a special menu for Valentine's Day and did not offer the regular menu, so to run out of what seemed to be the only tasty appetizer (scallops) seemed absurd. The entrees were great! We got our desserts to go but I am sure they would have tasted better in the restaurant.
Great food and great service!
Fabulous appetizers and main course, however deserts were a big disappointment. Service was decent but seemed to be bit confused and overwhelmed when dessert started to be served for us.
Great food..not so great service.
This restaurant and the staff exceeded my expectations. We were met at the entry, welcomed and checked on by several as well. The 12 or 13-foot ceilings, crown molding, marble fireplace mantles and decorations were wonderful.
Even better was the food itself. We had scallops for appetizers that melted in your mout - not rubbery or gritty AT ALL. I had striped bass, she had boar loin. Dessert was GF chocolate gelato for her and a banana-espresso trifle for me. At $55/person I thought this was excellent.
Quiet dining, superb food, excellent value (IMO). I’d give it 15 stars if I could.
Lovely dining. Impeccable service. My son failed to mention a food allergy that was not noticeable in the menu. The waitress offered to have his meal prepared again without my request.
Promising but missed the mark. The good - great ambiance in a beautiful dining room, comfortable and quiet. Lovely. very good, almost excellent service. Reasonable prices and nice portions. Now the disappointing - wife's Halibut was overcooked. Beautiful piece of fish. Second degree murder. What a shame. (Wife choose not to speak up, but I pointed out to waitress when she was collecting the finished food). Never heard another word and waitress did not communicate to our waiter). Other food - Brie appetiser was excellent. Shrimp with mushrooms was very good, although the shrimp could have had a touch more garlic. Mushroom balls were a tad sour. But nice dish. My combo steak filet and short rib could have used more seasoning and was almost too done for my tastes. (I ordered it rare and it came medium rare). Had Strudel for desert. Strudel should have been warm. Carmel ice cream was excellent.
We wanted to love it but just didn’t. The grits in the shrimp and grits were not good, disappointing. Key lime pie was good, everything was fine but not wonderful. If almost seemed like the emphasis was on presentation rather than flavor.
We had minor service issues including being told our desserts would be out soon before we had our entrees and asking if we cared for tea or coffee only after dessert was consumed.
Also, it was our anniversary but no reference was ever made to that in spite of our having noted it on our reservation.
Beautiful intimate dining room. The food was decadent and divine!
The apple strudel is very memorable!
Spectacular food in a wonderful, historic setting. The oyster stew was life-changing. And the carne asada was terrific.
I loved this restaurant located in a cute inn near downtown DC. The ambience is upscale and perfect for a casual lunch with a friend or a romantic date. I noticed some patrons appeared to be having business meetings. I was very impressed with the service and attentiveness of the staff.
It was underwhelming and the food was not good. Only edible thing was the crab fondue.
Morisson-Clark offers Nouvelle American cuisine that is quite good—not exceptional, but not extravagantly experimental either. Portions are surprisingly large for an "upscale" restaurant, and the dishes are often "interesting" while still reliable and traditional, close to comfort food in fact (with southern specialties like shrimp and grits). The ambiance is classy in a toned-down, relaxed way: muted colors, an excellent jazz soundtrack, no TV screens anywhere. Definitely not stuffy or pretentious, but just a little bit more formal (in a good way) than a typical DC grill or tavern, and way more quiet: patrons speak in relatively hushed tones, and the tables are far enough apart that dinner can be an intimate experience. I would say the ambiance is what sets M-C apart more than the food, even though the food is above average. A perfect place if you want to have an actual conversation without shouting, over a really tasty dinner.
Went for restaurant week and everything was phenomenal. The servers were very attentive and catered to all of our requests. The food, however, was the star of the show from the grilled brie appetizer to the butternut squash ravioli to the key lime pie.
Fantastic lunch and exceptional service. Very quaint dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was fantastic!! It was strange when we got there because there was no one around to greet us. The service through the meal was a bit spotty, like maybe they were short-staffed. All in all we loved it and we will go back.
Great quiet spot. Perfect for my business occasion.
Lovely setting & delicious food, but some server issues. We announced that a 3rd party would probably join us, but were seated at a 2-top and told we could move later. Other parties of 2 were seated at larger tables. When we informed the hostess that our client was arriving, we were not allowed to switch tables. When client arrived, our food also had just arrived so client pulled up a chair -- and that's when we were told we had to move to a 4-top. As a result, our entrees were cold when we ate them. Can't understand it! We were quite clear...
Great Lunch, Great Setting, Great Service
We celebrated New Years Eve 2018 at Morr is son-Clark. The food, service and ambiance was first rate. The restaurant was quant and the staff was very personable, especially our server. There were several different ethnic backgrounds enjoying the menu, which speaks volume of Morrison-Clark. The only downside of the evening was the valet parking device, they were very confused and had us miss our 8:00pm reservation by 37 minutes. That being said, once we did finally sit down, we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely revisit again very soon.
We spent our New Years Eve here for a magnificent dinner. I am eager to return. This was top notch fine dining with great portions and excellent cocktails.
This place is an absolute gem. My husband and I have been dining here for many years and we are never disappointed. The food is good but the service is amazing.
Beautiful room, good food, attentive and friendly service.
Lovely atmosphere however let down by poor service from Doris. Food is very tasty, although plates need to be bigger so as to enable better presentation.
Went there for Christmas day dinner. Food was very good, as was the service.
Thank you to our server, Mary, for a wonderful dining experience. It was our first time in the restaurant. Clearly, they are accustom to and cater to groups so dining there as a couple was almost too quiet. But, the food and the attention we received was great. We had a memorable anniversary dinner.
Great experience! Mary our server was wonderful! Would definitely recommend!
