What a rip off. For the dollar amount we spent, we walked away still hungry. Ridiculous!!! And the quality of food was far from being the finest. Totally disappointed.

Takoyaki was all batter---finally found a piece of abalone---ridiculously tiny
Chirashi---seafood pieces were all chopped up into small pieces
Miso soup---had a funny after taste
Dessert--ice cream size scoop is a joke

The restaurant was empty yet they had to seat people right next to us where we could hear their entire conversation.

And they have the nerve to automatically tack on 18% gratuity.

Excellent service and a restaurant with the highest standards all around. The presentation of the dishes were beautiful. I ordered the sushi and it tasted like the sushi in Japan, perfect proportions of the rice with the fish. Will definitely miss this place and will be watching for the news of an opening of a new place, hopefully very soon.

My husband and I enjoyed the food very much. The drinks were outstanding. The service was great as well. We had surf and turf, and pork chop for entrees. Both were very tasteful. I also enjoyed the live octopus for appetizer. It was a bit on the salty side but still very tasty.

Very slow service food was ok. Very disappointed that the seafood "toban yaki" was not worth $50 it came with 3 - 4 pieces of clam and mussels the protein itself shrinks to the size of a penny. Only half a lobster and one king crab arm. Also the spicy Alaskan king crab came was okay it was basically spicy mayo on top of the crab that came with fries nothing spectacular. I can just go to a cheaper sushi place and get crab with spicy mayo. Overall this place was terrible.

Although we were prompt turning up for 7pm, our table was not ready and we were seated outside away from the central part of the dinning room? The restaurant was only 1/3 busy?
We were moved, and then experienced excellent food and superb service from Chad our waitstaff.
Our bar tender was very knowledgeable too.
Recommend.

Everything was great, except for the flooring under and near our table. Every time someone walked by it was like an earthquake. Everything at the table shook to the point that it was very uncomfortable. Not cool. Especially if I am spending $200 on dinner for 2 people.

Went here on vacation for my wife's birthday. Ordered the Omekase. Fun to try, lots of food. Would probably order off of the rest of the menu if we returned.

Staff was attentive, well trained.

Morimotos is a beautiful restaurant, but lacks flavor or uniqueness that I would expect from a great chef.

The service was good, but not exceptional (think of any big chain restaurants).

Sake: Morimoto's Junmai: Average in taste, abit harsher than expected.

Appetizers: Hamachi Tacos (average taste, would not order again), Calamari salad (would order again), Gyoza (think of any pots-stickers, nothing special; would not order again).

Sushi Platter ($135 option): Would not recommend. The quality and freshness was just not there. Sushi II has much better quality. The uni was not fresh, and had a foul smell/taste, and did not finish. Their fish roe was not fresh either, not the crisp bursting roe. Sushi was breaking apart even when picking up by hand.

Entree: Hamachi Bin Bimabop: Would recommend; great presentation and taste.

It was our first time to Morimoto - we totally enjoyed the experience. Our server, Mark, was really on point. The support staff were great too. The food and presentation was excellent. Sad that they will be closing before the end of the year.

Only downside was that they charge 18% gratuity. We didn't expect that since it was only two of us.

Excellent food and excellent service! We were there to celebrate with a dear friend on her birthday - her favourite food is seafood so we took her here. Our plan was to try "a little of everything" so we shared a few appetizers, including the live octopus carpaccio (outstanding). We moved on to individual sushi and sashimi choices and were treated to unbelievably fresh fish presented beautifully. We shared the Morimoto yellowfin bebimbap dish and the traditional ramen to close. We weren't really hungry for dessert but managed to enjoy sharing the ice cream! A memorable meal made all the more pleasant by our server, Mark, and the other staff members at Morimoto. I have dined at Morimoto Napa and my friend has been to the NYC restaurant - we both thought this location was on par, if not slightly better. You will spend some money - but in our opinions it was well worth the experience. Wait a little longer to sit on the lanai as opposed to sitting inside.

Had 2 great dinners there! Creative presentations! Sushi, soups and rock shrimps leave you wanting more even if you're full --and the oyster with foie gras and uni appetizer is orgasmic...it is a MUST TRY! Staff is on point! Sara and Chris are diligent, professional and courteous...their service makes the dinner so much more enjoyable.

P.S. Chris many thanks for the tea which helped heal my sore throat.

The most inventive meal I have had the privilege to eat. All three of us decided on the tasting menu, which had six to seven courses. Without giving to much away, because sometimes it's fun to be surprised, it was delicious. They also gladly catered to my associates' gluten allergy. An expensively delightful evening facing the docks.

We only had two interactions with our server. Although this was not completely his fault. He was given three tables at the same time. Two of which were parties of 8 and greater. It took almost 20 minutes for us to be able to order our drinks. Then another 10 minutes for our food. Neither of orders were taken by our server. We are guessing he manager took our order.

We were. Ever told about the specials, and we had to drag any information about the menu out of the individual taking our order. After I food did come, no one ever came back through and asked if we wanted any drinks.

Hey also put a 18% surcharge on all orders, regardless of party size. I do not mind tipping, and we understood this was a touristy place, but that is a little steep for the service we received.

We sat outside which was super nice, and the crowd noise was fine. They had two different types of music playing which competed which each other. This made the overall experience negative.

The food was nice, but the experience wasn't what we expected for an Iron Chef restaurant.

Two of us had the chef's tasting menu. The dishes were beautiful, creative, and on the whole quite good. It's still a bit pricey at $120/per. One of us ordered a la carte. Appetizer ribs were tasty. Duck Duck Duck (3 preparations) was really disappointing -- a tasteless soup with an unpleasant duck meatball, a very small duck leg with not much to enhance the flavor, medallions of duck with an odd pineapple sauce (does not work flavorwise) and actually, a fried rice with duck that was the best thing on the plate. Our guess is that you need to go with sushi and fish. We've eaten here once before and had the same impression -- good but not really worth the hype and the prices.
Atmosphere is really lovely, and we had a nice seat outside for sunset and fireworks.

Had a reservation, but still had to wait 30 minutes. The restaurant was never more than 1/2 full, so not sure why the wait. In contrast, the next night at
Roy's, we got in right away at our reserved time, every table was full and turned over in a few minutes so was constantly full. Very efficient. The food at Marimoto was good, not great, definitely over rated.

Waited 25 minutes for drinks. Waited another 20 minutes to order. Waited 10 minutes for soy sauce and soy dish for appetizer. Waited another 20 minutes to find out they were out of my wife's dish. Table next to us ordered each course separately as the finished but received the same dish my wife ordered. Snapper I ordered had no taste, duck confit fried rice was dry and bland. Waiter did not mention that the entrees we ordered did not come with starch nor did he offer any. Waiter removing dishes from the next table bumps into my wife. Seem like the next table had waiters serving or checking their table every 15 minutes.
Another 15 minute wait for the check.
The 4 previous times we went there we had excellent food and service. My guess is Morimoto has sold to someone that doesn't know the restaurant business.

Always one of our favorite restaurants!
We visited Morimoto's three times during our vacation stay - twice for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. Every time was excellent - no surprise! The Wagyu steak is outstanding and worth the price tag. If you ever going to order Wagyu, order it here. The seafood Toban Yaki was as amazing as I remembered it, but the Black Cod was absolutely off the chart. Wow!
Order the Spicy Salmon rolls. California rolls are also terrific. Order the chocolate key lime pie - it will not be what you are expecting key lime pie to be ... it's way better!
The French Press coffee with dessert was possibly the best coffee I had the entire trip!

Excellent as always - this restaurant never disappoints. Ambiance is really modern and lovely. Staff are exceptional, attentive and have incredible knowledge of the menu. Ask them questions - there are plenty of choices and they have great advice.

Sunday brunch was delicious and I hope that we are able to enjoy that again on our next stay. Currently it is only offered the last Sunday of every month, but it is worth it.

I can't think of a single criticism or complaint - everything was top notch! Cannot wait to visit again!

I made a reservation for Morimoto Waikiki via OpenTable for my girlfriend's birthday. I commented that it was her birthday in the reservation request, and that if they had special seating or any special/complimentary things, it would be appreciated. We got a small pupu sample from the chef, as well as a small dessert, compliments of the house. I was pleased with the food, though a loud group was later seated next to us, which made conversation difficult and dampened the romantic atmosphere. We were later offered to move seats to a quieter end table overlooking the harbor, but we already had our entrees at that point so we did not move. All in all, a great experience. Be prepared to spend $ though - this is one of the more expensive restaurants in town.

Second visit: once again reading some of the reviews following the news that the restaurant was closing made me apprehensive about the coming experience. Another great sunset on the patio and excellent food was what we received. Noticed several things different such as changes to the way some dishes were served (did not affect the fine quality of the food). It appears that they read the reviews and make adjustments to their service; the table was crumbed between courses. Overall, still a great experience and well worth trying it before it closes in December.
