Great ambiance, beautiful interior design. However, rolls were same taste as we would get at a grocery store. Very blend, no taste. The $42 rice and beef dish that was cooked by our table was disgusting. The only ok-ish dish was desert.
I need to mention that our server was great, he was very attentive and nice. He deserves 5 stars for trying to save our experience and make it a little better.
First and foremost, WONDERFUL ALL AROUND EXPERIENCE. Let me give you the play by play of my experience here. First of all, I tried to make reservations at Pod. I was celebrating my boyfriends birthday and figured I would take him to one of my favorite places. Unfortunately, (BUT FORTUNATE!), they were closed and I was offered other restaurants to try. Morimoto popped up and I figured we could give it a try. I specifically put in my reservation notes that it was my boyfriends surprise birthday dinner. We had gotten to Morimoto about 20 minutes early for our reservation. The host was SO KIND. Unbelievably KIND and had asked to take our temp at the door and explained that because we were early our table was not yet ready but that we could go check out the gallery. She was seriously so kind. Both my boyfriend and I were so happy to wait because of her hospitality haha!! Literally 15 minutes later, she found us outside and we were so excited. She showed us to our table and explained a few things about ordering! Our server then came over and talked to us about the restaurant, went over the specials, and gave us a few moments to check things out. We ordered and were so pleasantly surprised at how BEAUTIFULLY PLATED our food was. ALSO how delicious it was. We finished our meals and then a few minutes passed and out came a dessert with a candle. Honestly, it's the little things and my boyfriend was so happy. We had gotten the check, paid and left. I would like to point out that I manage a restaurant in the Lehigh Valley. There is a huge difference between "service" and "hospitality." The staff here was amazing. The good was amazing. And quite honestly, we will be making reservations here at Morimoto first next time :) Thank you to all who made our "first time" so amazing. We left so happy, AND FULL :) BEYOND amazing experience. Thank you!
This is the first and last restaurant that you should ever dine at
My wife and I arrived 25 mins early due to the covid procedures.. we arrived to end up waiting those extra 25 mins. Prior to our arrival I had made specific request via the open table app, I requested that a drink be present and that I wanted the night to be EXTRA special. Sadly it was like my message meant nothing... we choose to do the “Lux 8 course pairing” which honestly I thought we’d have a waiter at the table course by course, not the case... all in all we spent $633 and the service was subpar, maybe it was due to the covid situation I don’t really know. The food was good service was poor and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy.
Decent food. Good night
The tasting menu is good but nothing spectacular. Having had a similar tasting menu in Philly, Morimoto seems a bit subpar. The appetizer was a bit too rich to our taste and the dessert was too sweet. We would prefer something lighter instead. The wagyu beef and sushi sampler was outstanding though.
Great food, great service, great dinner!! Highly recommended!
Expensive fast food!!!
The selections were small. The salad was grossly overpriced for the plain greens. The udon was skimpy and undeveloped. The martini was small for $14, and the glass of wine similarly undistinguished. The noise level was disgraceful.
We had a great experience and will be returning.
Amazing experience. If you like Japanese food then Morimoto is a must if you are in the Philly area. The sushi was very fresh and the dishes were quite filling.
Food quality can’t justify the price. Some sushi are not very fresh.
This was an amazing experience with great service. The environment is spectacular and made for an exciting dinner setting. 20/10 would recommend!
Sadly my first experience here was during corona and I wished I went earlier this place is absolutely phenomenal. I came here for my birthday dinner with a six person party. Even though we could not sit altogether they made it work for us so we were somewhat close. The service was great our waiter was polite and checked up on us to make sure we’re doing well. Before arriving I had my mind set on the chef tasting menu, but unfortunately they weren’t serving it. As a result I got the snow beef which was so buttery beautiful cooked. I also had sashimi and sushi which was also very flavorful. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
Amazing food and service as always! Outdoor seating was pleasant enough - did the best they could in light of the current situation.
Meal was great, service was spectacular, perfect set up given the current circumstances, was a nice outdoor dining experience.
We were visiting Philly for the day from DC, and on accident found Morimoto. Food was priced well, and delicious and Andrew our server was amazing. Attentive yet giving us the space we needed to enjoy our meal. Next time we are in Philadelphia we will be making another stop in. Thank you!
It’s a cool looking restaurant and the staff is very friendly, but it’s a very overpriced, limited menu with sushi that is mediocre at best.
Thank you for your valuable feedback on pricing and sushi selection. Look forward to welcoming you again and providing you better experience next time!
Food and service were right up there with Morimoto standards. Only drawback is that we chose to sit outside. And sitting on the middle of Chestnut Street with buses and people going by ... detracted some. But resto did all it could to make us feel safe and special
Very nice ambiance and the sever was very helpful and super patient. He explained all the menu throughly. The Food was pretty good.
Great food and considerate service
The food was amazing as always, but the service was extremely slow. We were sitting outside and the heat lamp burned out. We asked for it to be relit because it was cold, and unfortunately it was not relit until after we got the check. Our waitress was wonderful, but after we commented on the slow service we were told they were short staffed and that was that. I understand that times are tough right now, but with the high cost of the bill you would think that they would value their customer experience even while being short staffed.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. Look forward to welcoming you again and providing you better experience next time!
Bad experience, slow service, very unsatisfied
Sake Celebration dinner: very small food and sake servings
Excellent meal as always
Very safe. Tested at door and spaced for those that are concerned. Felt like more people could have dined. Food was top notch as always. Variety on omakase was great. Catered to my kids weird requests w style n grace. Great restaurant
It was our first time there. The food was outstanding, and our waitress, Fedra, was a sweetheart. Would very much like to dine indoors on our next visit ....
If you’re seeking exceptional dining with a romantic ambiance this is definitely the place for you. The chains was superb and the staff was kind and patient. My friend has food allergies and they were carful you ensure the mean was not contaminated. I’m looking forward to returning in the near future
Took 20 minutes to be seated for our reservation. Had to wait outside on the street.
Mediocre and overpriced sushi. The ambiance and service would bring me back but I wouldn't recommend for just the sushi.
Thank you for your valuable feedback on pricing and sushi quality. Look forward to welcoming you again and providing you better experience next time!
We chose to eat the wagyu steaks haven't had wagyu about 12 times I would have to rate the strip steak at the lower end. My son had the higher end wagyu on the menu which I would rate in the top three we also had some sushi which I would rate in the top three also appetizers were very good we would definitely go back
Thank you for your feedback on strip! This is very helpful information for us. Thank you for dining with us and look forward to providing you better experience next time!
Simply amazing and relaxing with amazing food 😋
Great experience. Food was excellent. Service was also excellent considering covid. Staff was very thoughtful and adhered to all safety measures throughout the dinner service.
The most wonderful dining experience I've had in six months. Covid-19 guidelines were in place and I felt very safe. The real star here was the meal. There was not one misstep from appetizers to dessert. Server Josh was very helpful and never intrusive. Thanks for making the new normal feel like the old normal. Bravo to Morimoto!!
I’ve been going to Morimoto since it’s opening and as always it was a pleasure. The rock shrimp was soggier than usual and lacked flavor, however the $90 sushi/sashimi combination made up for it. It was such a great value for the quality and quantity of sushi. The waitstaff followed strict health guidelines for covid-19 which was greatly appreciated.
It was our first indoor dining experience since pandemic started and what a blast! Chef's sushi sashimi combo was outstanding and very reasonably priced. So were main courses. Service was very attentive. Five stars!
The hot food wasn’t very good. All came out lukewarm and didn’t feel fresh. We returned the wagyu beef rice bowl. Loaded with salt and meat was chewy. No go for $42. The tuna pizza and toro scallion roll were decent. Not in a rush to return for those prices.
Thank you for your feedback during your meal as well! It is very valuable to us and hope to provide you better experience next time!
My waiter, luis, was super nice and helpful. I felt super safe with the precautions going on with Covid. The food was delicious
My date and I tried the edamame, rock shrimp tempura, ishi yaki bop with yellow tail, and anmitsu. The edamame has a very pleasant aroma. The rock shrimp is not very tasty - some pieces have too much dough and become oily. The rice bowl is very tasty thanks to fresh fish and the entire experience is exhilarating (cooked table-side by very attentive servers) - a little sour for my taste, though. Could have used a bit of crunch for texture variation. The dessert has a good mix of various flavors that somehow form a harmony - not too sweet, and every time you dig in, you find something new in a tiny bowl of awesomeness. Overall, an excellent meal from the Iron Chef.
Thank you for your feedback on Rock Shrimp Tempura and Ishi Yaki Buri Bop; sorry to hear they did not meet your expectation. We appreciate your words and look forward to seeing you in the near future!
Easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Every single plate was full of flavor and left us wanting more.
Thank you for joining us!
