Twas an amazing experience. Food was awesome. Omakase was worth it. The seared kampachi was so F&$king awesome. It made me laugh, giggle and think. I’d also like to give a shout out to the saké gelee panna cotta with strawberry consumé, that was low key delicious. Omakase beverage pairing was on point as well.
Service was solid it progressively got better but not in a intrusive or annoying way.
Morimoto is an entirely superlative dining experience. My husband and I both had the Omakase, and it was worth every penny. I've never had such amazing food. They were also kind enough to accommodate my husband's gluten intolerance (celiac), and were kind to my children (ages 11 and 12). I wouldn't recommend this place for little kids, but my tweens were very happy. Highly recommend for special occasion dining. Unforgettable!
Wonderful dining experience thanks to the high level of service provided by the waitstaff - simply incredible.
Impeccable service for special moments. The omakase was wonderful.
Lovely place for our friends 75th birthday luncheon. Food was excellent as was kind and efficient service. Brian was waiters name. Set a beautiful dessert for our honoree with a candle.
We had omakase. All the dishes were great except the last two, which is the sushi and dessert. It was rather surprising that the sushi was not that good. But nonetheless, some of the other dishes were outstanding!
Joe our server was awesome the food was so fresh and incredible
Excellent everything as usual food drink service all exceed expectations!
Phenomenal. I was skeptical as this is not a Michelin star restaurant, but I was more than satisfied with my experience. The food was great, the service was impeccable. The waiter spilled a little champagne upon opening, and the manager brought over a free carpaccio appetizer. We did not request anything, had no issues with the spillage, they simply did this to strive to provide a superior service. Most impressive, will go again, and would certainly recommend.
We went to Morimotos with the expectation of good sushi and sashimi. We definitely we're not disappointed by the food. It was the freshest food we have had. I was impressed by the different choices of fresh sashimi.
I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of service and promptness of staff. We had dinner reservations at 7:15 pm and had to wait another 15 minutes for a table. Our waiter hardly came back to check on us. The service really detracted from the experience of being there at one of the most sought out Japanese sushi places in Philadelphia. They certainly need to work on this!
Best restaurant I have been! The fish couldn’t be fresher. The service is top! Love this place!
The balance of flavors and textures was fantastic. Great service. Very expensive but worth it.
Went to morimoto previously and had a wonderful experience however, this time around disappointed. We left the restaurant not satisfied and went to eat burgers and fries after. The edamame we ordered was good and the miso soup as well; however, the sushi was disappointing. The roll we were given was extremely small and unevenly and sloppily sliced, with uneven distribution of rice. The fish itself and rice had no flavor. Moreover we ordered oh-Toro and this is traditionally a beautiful cut of fish with plenty of flavor, yet felt flavorless and lack luster. The pieces were much smaller and thinner than in most other sushi restaurants I have been to. Was extremely disappointed, felt like you were paying for the name and not quality.
I am going to Morimotos for many years now and the quality of the food, service e.g. has been maintained which is great. Unfortunately, the noise level substantially increased so you need to have a speakerphone with you to understand your guests ... perhaps that is something which can be changed?
Definitely one of the top restaurants in
Philly. Food is amazing and service is
excellent!!! We will be back soon.
The interior is beautiful, the seating comfortable (although my partner's feet did not touch the floor). I am told it can get loud, but the curved ceiling surely works to limit deflections. $7 for each piece of eel sushi is almost three times what I usually pay. They were exceptional, to be sure, but it's an extravagant price for lunchtime. The wait-person was wonderful---helpful with both advice and information.
Service was great! The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. The dishes from the kitchen were fantastic and tasteful. However, we were very disappointed by the quality of the sushi (nigiri) and couldn’t believe they were from the same restaurant as those amazing dishes we had tasted earlier. (They were dry and mostly mediocre at best) Still, knowing that Morimoto does not specialize in sushi, I would definitely recommend the restaurant and would return for the entrees.
Great food, great service, great for lunch as well as dinner.
Excellent meal. We both had the omakase, and were not disappointed. Highly recommended!
The great folks at Morimoto made our anniversary truly special. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. They even brought us a special treat to mark the occasion. Wonderful evening!
Great night enjoying the chefs tasting menu. Nice ambiance and minimalist setting. 8 courses of delectable chef selections. Can’t wait to return.
Best sushi in Philly. We had a reservation, arrived 10 minutes early, but were not seated until 20 minutes after our reservation (for a total wait-time of 30 minuets). Other than that, everything was superb.
Amazing food and great experience!
Fairly friendly to vegetarians and waiter was very helpful
First class all the way from beginning till end. We had the hot and a cold Saki, Wagyu Dumplings, sashimi sampler app, Black Cod and Duck Duck Duck. I would order any of those again. Nuff said!
My favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. Our first time at the sushi bar and it was hypnotizing watching the chef make nigiri.
Great food but was a bit disappointed by the inattentive service. We told the waiter were going to order the wagyu but hadn't placed our order yet and a large party came in and apparently ordered all the remaining wagyu in the restaurant, leaving us with none. Also had to repeatedly ask for items to be spaced out, then repeatedly ask for items we ordered.
Food was outstanding. Be aware of your options before making decisions. There are many possibilities that are often overlooked.
Service and food was fantastic. We had a wonderful evening.
The regular menu items were delicious!
The special sushi and soup options were less exciting.
another outstanding meal. The New Zealand strip is the best steak in all of Philly! Sushi always on point!
Great food, delightful server (Coleen)...The ramen soup is wonderful!
Morimoto's was delicious. The atmosphere's very unique, you feel like you're transported to another world. The portions are very generous. Bring an appetite or plan on a doggie bag. I bought Morimoto's cookbook to give as a gift, but I may just keep it myself. It's simple Japanese cooking that is beautifully written and illustrated. I wish a recipe for the salad dressing was included. I want to recreate everything I had at the restaurant.
The audio could be lower. This is a common complaint with other restaurants as well. Background music shouldn't overpower.
I ordered a sliced tuna to be cooked on the stone at the table. The tuna was dark in color. When cooked and served it did not taste that fresh and the filet cuts had a much darker flesh in certain areas which did not taste great. I could not see the darker areas because the fish was already dark. Had I seen the darker shade when brought to table I would have returned, but it was covered with vegetables.
Had the omakase, everything was delectable. Melt in your mouth sushi, wagyu massaging your tongue with flavor. However, what I loved the most was the seafood soup my fiancee ordered, where you drink the broth separately as if it were tea. So much flavor in a nearly-clear broth. Amazing.
Very expensive, but you know this. The price is justified.
Dinning at Morimoto is an experience, one that I very much enjoyed. The service was stellar and the food was exquisite.
Service is also good.
We came back for the Omakase, as we did not have time to do it on our previous visit. The food was FANTASTIC, but the service was well below-par. Getting the wine pairing, and being told "it's an Italian white wine" without a vintage let alone a varietal is awkward at best. Paired drinks coming 10 minutes before the dish, dishes coming 5 minutes before the paired drinks... really contrasts our previous visit.
Excellent all around.
