Amazing food and incredible service.
Food is great, but really expensive (Most likely because of the price of Japanese A5 Wagyu, $30 per Oz).
It really was just “good” and that’s a if disappointment for what has always been perfection across the board. I hear they are closing soon...🤔
Reserved party of 6 for 645 then changed it to 730. The restaurant didn’t seem to register the change and was texting me to confirm 645. I waited in line to check in even though there were only 2 parties in front of me. I’ve never had to stand in line at a restaurant of this “caliber” to check in. They are clearly disorganized. When our party started trickling in from 7-730, the host gave one of our guests attitude saying oh you’re here for the 645 reservation, are you the last one here? I went and asked if they saw the change I made on Opentable and they said oh we use Resy as our main reservations app so sometimes we don’t see the changes from Opentable AS IF THAT’S MY PROBLEM. Maybe just use one if you can’t see changes people make on the other. This young hostess girl gets us from the bar and has no idea what table to take us despite them acting as if we are so late even though we are on time. Then they seat 6 of us at a table meant for parties of 4 between these glass panels that all the servers ran into every time they poured water. There was not enough room for all the dishes we ordered for 6 people - two of which were done tableside, which meant literally in my and my friend’s eating space after having to rearrange our glasses and plates. It was ridiculous. The tofu and the ramen were good but the rest was unmemorable. The sushi was not very good, fish was not flavorful and the selection was uninteresting but the prices were surprisingly low for the portions. We ordered the Mochi and the tofu cheesecake and both were meh. Our server was nice and friendly and the tableside servers were good as well. The front of house was a disaster and the food was mediocre. The space was huge but we were put into the tiniest possible space for some unclear reason (there were many other tables open). There are so many other better Japanese restaurants in the city with better fish and better service that there’s no reason to come back to this relic of the early 2000’s.
It took a bit long for the food to be served. The manager was nice and offered a glad of wine and adamant was brought while we waited.
Outstanding indeed. Shame it’s closing. Had a great time, everyone loved the food.
Food quality not the same as past experiences. Very disappointing.
Sorry to see it closing. Very impressed. Good service and food for the price.
Absolutely loved it.
My son loved the sushi rolls, I absolutely loved the chestnut dessert but also was happy to discover that this is one of the few places where you can enjoy a proper Caipirinha. Will be back!
Warm welcome, very friendly and caring service and of course fabulous food!
My family and I had been to Morimoto in Las Vegas. Over there we had an omakase and we were in love. Here in New York the omakase was mostly raw fish. After the first two dishes we decided it was not for us. Jonathan was kind enough to cancel the rest of the omakase and bring us the menu so we could order something else. The carrots were amazing, as well as the pork chop. The attention and the service were delightful.
We had the tasting. What a wonderful experience.
Amazing service, meal, and atmosphere. We were highly impressed and will be back. Thank you for the amazing time Chef Morimoto!
Expected better from one of my favorite chef's restaurants, I get equally good sushi and shashimi in my local neighborhood of Astoria
Very Japanese style, minimalistic interior but comfortable and fitting. Food was great though I think overpriced. Service was excellent.
Anniversary
Friends and I try it over the restaurant week and really like it! Plenty of space with quite decent decoration. Even with many people the noise level is low. Staffs are very friendly and food is quite good!
Everything was fantastic.
Every part of the dining experience was great! The appetizers- miso soup and tuna tartar- were delicious.
We both had the sea bass and the incredible chocolate dessert! Great!! We have been here before several times and are never disappointed!
Everything from the food to the dining experience was perfect.
Amazing everything!! The food, the ambience, the service was all outstanding. Cant wait to go back.
Inventive cuisine and expertly presented and served, in a beautiful setting.
We had a lovely meal for restaurant week, perfect portions and selection plus a sampler dessert. It was a great way to start the week.
Wonderful food and impeccable service.
While the main courses: stake, and sea bass were excellent. The appetizers were really bad. Tuna tartare was bland and chicken yakitori was undercooked completely without flavor.
As always....excellent meal and attentive service!
Entering Morimoto is like entering a different world - unusual and impressive. Surprisingly, there is are quiet areas which are separated but not separated through architectural sleight of hand - and one noisy "with it' vibe area for younger people than we are.
Some of the dishes were outstanding, some average. Expectable for a restaurant week menu - and indeed, happily offering more choices than most - but it looked like the really good food was mostly hidden away in the "regular" menu. She dishes were over salted - more than one of us complained about that, starting with the miso soup.
Morimoto is a wonderful place to take out of town visitors with its outstanding use of space - and surely there must be outstanding food there too, but perhaps hard to discover without (expensive) experimentation.
Linden our server made our lunch experience extra special. The food was amazing too.
My friend and I had such a great experience. Travis, the GM is simply adorable and very accommodating. The whole waiting staff and the managers are extremely kind and attentive. Our server Linden was very patient and double checked with the chef a couple of times on my friends’ allergies. The food was delicious and we will be back.
Solid food by a legendary Chef. Beautiful decor and lovely ambience but definitely not for the stingy.
Restaurant Week and Birthday celebration
Every time I visit NYC I always go to Morimoto. The food and service are amazing. Try the Hydrangea drink..
The food was absolutely incredible. Quality and flavor of food was top notch. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The staff even apologized for the food coming out late without us even realizing it had taken extra time. The entire experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend dining here.
Went to celebrate a birthday. Excellent Meal. Highly recommend the Hot Stone A5 Wagyu, Sea Bass, Sushi Combination platter, Duck-Duck, and for dessert the flaming ball of chocolate. Wait staff were very attentive with exceptional service. Compliments to the Iron Chef Morimoto.
Waited over a hour for a table. Reservation was for 9:30 and got table at 10:40 after completely 6 times. All they said there is nothing they can do and wait at the bar
Service was outstanding, food amazing, and the place was super beautiful!!!!
Restaurant Week is a bust. The portions are too small. They try to fill you up with 3 inch piece of fish and a bowl full of white rice
We had an excellent restaurant week meal, glad to have picked Morimoto restaurant
A delightful restaurant week lunch.
I will be back
