Morimoto is the New York City interpretation of Executive Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s namesake Philadelphia restaurant that is co-owned with restaurateur Stephen Starr. Designed by world renowned architect Tadao Ando, the restaurant’s entrance features the world’s largest Japanese Noren curtain set against a massive façade of austere steel. Inside is an extraordinary open kitchen surrounded by a 24-seat sushi bar where diners can watch Morimoto and his chefs at work. On every level of the restaurant guests enjoy the elaborate menu where East meets West. Glass partitions create a private atmosphere between tables and a wall made of 17,000 spring water bottles add a touch of New York drama to this tranquil atmosphere. Guests have the option to dine on the top floor or congregate in the lower lounge for cocktails and snacks.

Cozy environment. Excellent quality and amazing flavor food, presented in detail by the attendants. The food is a work of art from the aesthetic point of view. Without a doubt the best sashimis I have ever eaten. The service was polite and efficient. It was a memorable experience.

My husband and I went to Morimoto for the first time to celebrate a late Valentine's Day dinner and sat at the sushi bar for the chef's tasting (omakase). Everything about the experience was exceptional, both the food and the service. The dishes were creative and delicious. It was well worth the high price tag and I highly recommend it.

I've been to Morimoto a few times over the years, but hadn't been for 2-3 years until last night. We wanted sushi and it was a special occasion, so decided to do something above the usual. Very disappointing. The interior is getting stale - the same as when it opened - and the service was lethargic. We had the chef's tasting and within 2 courses I was served the only thing I said I didn't want when they had asked at the start. That was corrected, and then the time between the next couple of courses was much too long. Dishes were removed, but then 10-15 minutes passed before the next course was served. The drink pairing (wine and saki) was fine but not outstanding. The whole experience, at $400 for 2, was really a value abomination. I won't be back.

We had terrible service, the food was really subpar. The fish did not taste fresh. Told them in my reservation it was my husbands birthday and they never mentioned it or did anything special. The waiter was rude. We will never return here.

Well this was my second time in Morimoto. The food is always amazing. I had the surf and turf, my steak was cooked to perfection! The smoked salmon melted in your mouth it was extremely fresh. The only problem I had was with the service. The waiter did not check up on my meal, I had to wait to order a drink because he never came by to the table to see if I wanted anything more. I had to basically flag him down to order additional drinks from the bar. They also brought my dates dinner first and I sat there and waited, so rude when your starving. The food makes up for the terrible service. The waiter was the problem not the host or the bus boys. What kind of waiter doesn’t let you finish taking your order? And I spent well over $300. Anywho I hope they fix that.

This was one of the best dinners we have ever had! All of the restaurant personnel joined in to not only provide excellent service, but to make sure we had a great experience! We sat at the sushi bar, and the chef made some rolls just for us based on our tastes. We had the tofu made table side. There were so many layers of flavor!

Even though we had a reservation and we were on time the hostess was trying to accommodate a rather persistent customer who did not have a reservation and wanted a nice table in the main dining room.She made us wait because she kept chatting with this person and we reminded her she was rude and somewhat condescending...after being seated right by the door ( probably the worst table) we decided not to make a big deal and enjoy the great food.
It's a shame to have such a person work in that position there.
