Morimoto New York
Perfect food was amazing decor and service exceptional
Too long wait time for the food
This was the best meal we have ever had...anywhere in the World. You have to get the Wagyu beef carpaccio and the Wagyu filet!! The rock shrimp and the spicy king crab are incredible!!
Have had many good meals here, but unfortunately this was not one of them. Chefs nigiri combination was unappealing to say the least, with not one but two clams nigiri served, one of which was unidentifiable by three waiters! One waiter even said it was a piece of octopus. If they don’t know what it is, they shouldn’t serve it.
The other 7 “non-clam” (lol) nigiri were also largely unappealing, many of them fishy and one of which was so tough I nearly choked and spit it out. It had a piece of cartilage in it - it almost seemed like it wasn’t even fish. Somehow I was able to get it down. It almost felt like we were being punished for requesting to have no eal or shrimp in the combination, punished with clams! I often get Chefs combination at Morimoto and have always had a good experience. I even often choose it over others like Gari because they are so accommodating with requests and substitutions.
Service tried but failed to serve our drinks in appropriate amounts of time, though everyone was very nice, as usual. Perhaps it was just an off night.
Morimoto was the fine dining and experience. Foods were exquisite. Waiter and waitress were very attentive, informative and in a very good manner. I highly recommend!
it's still our favaorite restaurant in nyc... we always go, at least twice over a two week period....eeryone we have taken there loves it too.....
Always incredible tasting high quality food in a beautiful venue, with top notch service.
was a beautiful lunch.
Wonderful prix fix meal perfect for a birthday
This was a “packed in like sardines” experience for us. We couldn’t hear ourselves speak due to the proximity of the neighboring tables. Food was very good but also very overpriced. Our server couldn’t have been less interested or helpful. It’s one of those restaurants that thinks it is better than the customer and I wouldn’t go back. Far nicer dining options for sushi in the city at a more reasonable price point.
The place was beautiful, service superb, food was just ok especially the sushi portion which was very mediocre. Overall value for the price is poor.
seemed more like a tourist trap than a high end japanese/sushi experience. a bone in my sashimi and, terrible steak as part of the omakase. i was overall disappointed spending over $400 for two and feeling that I would have found this meal acceptable if it was closer to $140 for two. was overprioced and way underwhelmed
Sushi fresh as always.
Negiitoro maki my favorite
A perdu beaucoup avec moi sur le service et la nourriture bonne sans plus.
Fantastic service. We did the 8 course tasting menu, it was a fabulous experience. Food was incredible. Highly recommend.
Its lost alot of magic since I last came here. It just seems overpriced for the value/service. I wouldn't not recommend it but I would recommend quite a few other restaurants before this.
We always stop here when in town, Food and Service really good.
get the popular dishes. ask the waiters. the toro is amazing the steaks are amazing. staff is very attentive. food is wonderfully presented.
Overall a good experience. A nice ambiance and decor. Our waiter was great and the staff was very attentive. The food was really good, not great. Very expensive and most portion sizes were very small.
My wife and I flew to New York to experience the wine and food festival and to have dinner at Morimoto's restaurant for our 20th anniversary. It was everything we expected, beautiful décor, knowledgeable staff, and absolutely amazing food! But, the one thing that exceeded our expectations at night was the Sushi Chef that we sat in front of. He was engaging, telling a stories about the food, the restaurant, and even about Morimoto himself,
things that we didn't know after years of watching the Food Network. More surprising was the genuine interest he showed in us. I unfortunately don't recall his name, but my wife and I won't forget his warmth.
Pas d’ambiance et les prix sont exagérés
As always a great experience.
Food quality is drastically down to were it once was. But on top of that you get one of the worst table service in nyc. The only constant is a rip of price. First time ever I give a 10% tip but in reality there should have been no tip and honesty food should have been half price. DO NOT GO. Save your money. I will try to tell as many people as I can DO NOT GO!!!
I had a great night. Thank you!
Went to Morimoto to celebrate a birthday and just... wow! Everything we ate was absolutely phenomenal. I will definitely be back.
It was great!! Service was spectacular!
Was excited to try Morimoto NY as I love trying new sushi restaurants. I was very disappointed with the experience. While the nigiri I had were all delicious, everything else was sub-par including the service. I expected so much more from a leading chef's establishment. Would not recommend going here as there are tons of other places that are delicious and less pricey.
Ho mangiato il miglior sushi solo dopo Tokyo, squisito !!!
Great food, very original and tasty !!
This just wasn’t the same Morimoto that I have loved for years. It’s always my first dinner every time I’m in NYC because in the past, the chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing has always been a memorable meal. That wasn’t the case this time. Other than the first course of tuna tartare (which is better than the old tuna tartare course which I loved), it wasn’t very memorable. The A-5 Wagu was the only other course I even really remember and I just ate there two days ago. Also, the service was rather terrible. After taking our order, we did not really see our server again. It took more than 25 minutes after our last course to finally be able to grab someone to get our check. I’m just overall disappointed in what is one of my favorite restaurants. I will give it another try on the next trip, but if they blow it then, I won’t be spending my money here as Nobu also has an excellent tasting menu.
Everything we had hoped for. Our favorite dish was an appetizer of grilled eel with seared foir gras.
Sushi offerings had exotic fish, e.g., barracuda
Desserts were also creative and unique
Really pleasant patient servers who do not make you feel like an ingnoramous when you ask about the various fish and ingeditents
Ok. Our expectations were big. Iron chef, super famous, selling his book as you walk in. Truth is... it was good. Nothing wrong with it, unless we are being picky. But at this price point and the expectations of anyone that walks thru the door, it’s ok to be picky. Let’s say if you love Nobu this place is different. Nobu goes dark and focused and Marimoto goes light, minimalistic on decor and for the masses with the food. It’s a friendly Japanese restaurant. Everyone will find something to like. Kinda like Cheesecake Factory. For foodies that is a slap for the Walmart crowd, you will find something to eat and love it. So there. Good or bad? Depends on your expectation.
Food was excellent and loved the atmosphere.
Very good service.
We brought a group of 9 out of towners to Morimoto and they were blown away. Food and service were excellent! This is not an inexpensive restaurant but it certainly was worth the price.
Great energy and overall vibe. I can see what the hype is about. Friendly service and non typical Japanese food. Thought the food portions would be small but ended up ordering too much and filled up. Would return. Travis the GM came by for the added touch.
This might be the best sushi I have had in NYC thus far. They have some really good Japanese fusion cold and hot appetizers and great sushi. The staff was incredible. I was told they keep their fish in a -250 degree cooler that kills all bacteria-great for pregnant women. It is spacious and good energy also.
Very disappointed in quality of food, both my dishes were fishy tasting, wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
