Morimoto New York
Great restaurant, one of the best in NYC
The Omakase menu is outstanding
A good evening. Outstanding wait staff and excellent food. Highly recommend this if you like sushi etc. We had the omakase and the chef tailored it for me easily in spite of my many food allergies. 5 star!
Since the moment we arrived they greeted us with courtesy. Our table was ready right away. There was many interesting things on the menu. The food came out fast and well presented. Super tasty! The waiter was very nice. The ambiance was elegant. Clean atmosphere and location 😀.
Was the freshest, innovative Japanese cuisine that I’ve ever hard. We started with the Taro tartare and Waygu Beef Skewers. Simply delicious. The maki rolls we selected were the sucky yellow fin and spicy shrimp tempura. For entrees we had yellowfin stone bowl, the surf and turf and 10 hour pork with congee. The flavors of all the dishes were unique and balanced. Service was excellent and they were flexible with our reservation time. If you don’t have time to dine At Morimoto on this trip, schedule your next trip right away!
If you can sit at the sushi bar for an interactive dining experience.
Morimoto never lets us down.
Ir was good but the service yesterday was not good at all!!!
Next level dining experience. Everything you'd expect from 5 star dining.
Three years ago Morimoto was special. Today, they seem to be going through the motions. Need to recapture the magic.
Celebrating my god daughter’s Birthday. We were seated in a private area and it was a beautiful restaurant with excellent food & service
My cousin’s birthday from Italy. Delicious, as always. He loved it.
First off we rarely have anything other than Omakse or A la carte sushi... I’m sure my poor decision this Sat Early PM left me with the prior evenings re-chilled trimmings in my Chirashi bowl /lunch box. I suppose the ameatur’ish questions my wife and I had due to the fact that we Never get lunch boxes implied we would be “OK”with withered salad, Scolding Hot Miso and fish quality id expect only from a 2star “Chinese/Japanese”Sushi takeout.
Super bad first impression & experience for me.. wife’s was “OK” to be fair I averaged a 3 star. I will probably give it a shot in the future if someone invites me as I would prefer to opt for a guaranteed satisfaction elsewhere eg Yasaka.
Too expensive and not professional service
We had an excellent dining experience with an attentive wait staff and very fresh and delicious sushi dishes.
Great atmosphere and Great food too!
Must eat here great food
Morimoto dinner to celebrate my twin sons 16th birthday. The restaurant is stunning and a table up by the wall is quite quiet which is important to us. The food is outstanding..my family is still talking about the Wagyu beef entrees..very pricey but memorable! My only complaint would be that the servers had to keep switching plates as they didn't know whose dinner was whose..just a little annoying. Also for my sons 2 bday desserts, only one had a candle :( For the $$ I think we could have done a bit better.
food and service were great, but the price point was very high
Absolutely wonderful. The staff, service, and food were exquisite and made our anniversary memorable.
One of our favorite restaurants!
Absolutely fantastic!! Best spicy crab ever and Mark the manager took amazing care of our table. We all had the best time!
The biggest disappointment, with a $550+ food bill, for two people, left very unsatisfied. The fish was dry and had a sharp saltiness from a very gelatinous reduced soy sauce reduction. The $185, 6 oz. waygu was tender but tasteless. It was presented on a dark granite like dish with only a whisper of condiments (was that a pinch of roe?) the condiments next to the beef almost felt like an after thought, just like an error. Both entrees are ala carte, side dish is not included. The restaurant does offer some very nice sakes. The wait staff seemed stunned, even forgot one of the entrees, we needed to order the waygu entree twice. Seriously, we are just two people, how can you forget to order an entree. Very much a communication failure. But, all in all, very unhappy, not the culinary experts I had hoped for.
My friend and I had been to Morimoto before. We just wanted a relaxed dinner and good food when we came in on June 27 and that's what we got. The service was excellent and the food memorable although the chicken dish I ordered was good but not my menu favorite. Will try other dishes on my next visit. The bill was lower than we expected... a nice surprise. We left an above average tip because of it. Look forward to my next visit.
Great service and great food. Simple, yet perfectly executed.
Incredible service, went with some out of towners to a business dinner here and to be honest
The food was very good. We were a table of 6, we ordered 6 apps, 3 mains and 3 sides; on our waiter's recommendation. It was enough food and it was all very good. Duck duck duck was a fave. Prawn tempura was weirdly not resembling anything like a Japanese tempura dish *shrugs* - don't recommend - we did eat it all though hehehe
Everything else was fine. Our second waiter who stayed with us the night was fun and had a good energy, after the sudden and unexplained disappearance of our first waiter. The night felt a bit slapped together and rushed (we were told after apps that the kitchen was closing and if we wanted more food to order now - I didn't appreciate that) but overall it good.
I wish we went somewhere else for my mum's 60th - it didn't feel special at all. It was very disappointing in that respect.
Doubt that Mr Morimoto eats here. Certainly it is not the restaurant it once was as quality is severely lacking in all areas. Had eaten here several times in the past but not for at least a year. What a dramatic change. What a pity that such a great man has his name on this restaurant.
A completely satisfying experience. You can create your own food adventure or stay in your comfort zone. Saki flight was perfect.
We were in a rush so only had some sushi, the smoked salmon was terrific, the other two we had were fine, nothing special except the price.
Cant believe I never ate here before. Now one of my favorite places. Exceptional food and exceptional service
Food was great and staff very attentive. We loved the dessert that they set on fire. Sushi was very good and seafood miss dinner was awesome.
Delicious. Nice bartender
Todo estuvo excelente
Unfortunately, there are other Japanese restaurants in NYC that are far better than Morimoto. It's still good but no longer a can't miss restaurant.
Food is excellent! We did the omakase with drink pairings. The general manager was attentive and nice. We met the pastry chef from Okinawa as we discussed our travels to Japan and work in Okinawa. The whole experience was lovely for my husband's first Father's Day! we will be returning. best sushi ever.
Went on a busy Friday night & sat in good spot on upper level seating. Waiter and service staff were outstanding. We ordered some of the popular appetizers that were said to be featured on Iron Chef (toro tartare, tuna pizza) and were disappointed. We also tried the Chef’s sushi and sashimi combo and were also disappointed. I had an upset stomach later that night from all the raw fish combos. We also sample some of the wine (Chablis, Gruner, & Riesling) and they were okay.
Ultimately, the service and ambiance were great, but the food didn’t live up to all the hype nor did the pricing match the quality of the food in my opinion. If I were to go back I would stick to Sake (since I imagine the Sake is better than the wine), and I would stick to the maki (sushi rolls). The sushi rolls were very good.
Highly recommend the banquet with wine pairing for your visit
We were visiting from Denver and had theater tickets. Wanted a local dining experience and love the food so decided to go there. It did not disappoint. Server recommended am
Appetizer that was spot on. Amazing dinner.
