We came because of the Morimoto name and left with an inside joke, where if something is practically inedible, borderline rancid and must be sent back, we’d call it Morimoto. The service is amazing and the ambiance is lovely and the food all sounds delicious. We did not do the omakase (a favorite culinary adventure of mine) and instead ordered what we’d heard about...hamachi tacos, yellowtail pastrami and then our waitresses recommendations of what the establishment is known for. The tacos were flavorful but We’d had better, the yellowtail pastrami was vile and we sent it back. The rest of the meal was nice but relatively bland. We paid $150 for a dinner for two without alcohol and left disappointed.

This was my first experience at the Morimoto restaurant. Although the service was good, I did not enjoy my meal. The Monkey Bread was delicious.

Mostly amazing food. However the steak was disappointing. It was very tough and not much flavor. We had the tasting menu. Environment was great though and service was very attentive but not in your face.

Markup on wine is 300% plus which took the air out of an otherwise good meal. Bring your own bottle! Steaks are very expensive.

Poorly designed restaurant that is extremely noisy. So, don't bother going during peak hours if you want to conduct a conversation with your date or friends.

I had green curry dish, which was rather bland - hardly noticed the curry. Appetizers and desert were unremarkable. I can't say I would ever go back or recommend to others.

The food was amazing. But the ambiance was like a basketball game - a huge room with super-high ceilings, harsh can-lighting, and noise so loud it was very hard to have a conversation. The meal was worthy of a kaiseki meal in a first-rate ryokan in Kyoto. However in Japan, soft lighting in a calming space is an essential part of the experience.

we came on a whim, because we were in the mood for sushi. We had excellent food and service. Our server poured us some extra sake to taste and compare. This place is expensive, but you get quality.

It’s as good as you’d expect from chef morimoto... fresh and good. Pretty darn expensive tho. The room is really big and echoey.

Morimoto's is a great spot to grab dinner in downtown Napa. The food is authentic and fresh and having been to his other locations there is just a better flavor and bigger portion serving in Napa. The wine and cocktail list is wonderful and the food is always presented beautifully. The menu can either be sushi or inventive Japanese fare. The service was quick and efficient. It does get a little loud at the peak dinner times so it may not be the best place for a quiet conversation but the tables are not on top of each other. Overall a wonderful meal and I will be back.

Good service, cozy place. We've ordered omakase, it's not traditional omakase, more like fusion, the appetizers are better than the main course, but the food overall is fresh, delicious and creative. A nice place for special occasions.

Morimoto is expensive, but it is the best sushi in Wine Country. We had rock shrimp tempura to begin and it was one of the most addictive things I have eaten in a very long time...very generous portion and amazing taste. The quality of the sushi was of the highest quality. Again, it is expensive, but you do get what you pay for.

In the past a great restaurant! Now no management controlling the wait staff. Food may have been ok, but orders were lost or forgotten. Avoid unless desperate- music at 6:30 pm was so loud the waiter couldn’t describe the menu. Bathrooms were neglected but that was a minor issue compared to the disasterous dinner experiences

The lunch mix "bento box" was a great deal. We had 3 of the 5 choices at our table all very delicious with bold flavors. If I lived local would be a regular lunch spot.

Great service from Ellanah and bussers. Food was outstanding and was fun to try some unusual dishes. Wagyu old fashioned was awesome as well. Definitely will be back again. This is our second time asking waiter for suggestions and they have great ideas.

New Year’s Eve dinner, also our honeymoon. I have had a wonderful experience at morimoto before which is why I booked for this special occasion. When we arrived the hostess was wonderful and seated us within 10 minutes. Initially our waiter was friendly, but seemed rushed. We ordered around 8 dishes for our waiter to course our for us. By the second course we were ready to leave. Our waiter became sparse. We didn’t have plates for our third course. The wait became so awkward the table next to us offered to give us their plates so we could eat our food. We also were the only table who were given wood chopsticks. Everyone else had the normal clear chopsticks. I asked our waiter if he could give us the actual place setting and not the to go cutlery and he said “let me see”. We never heard about it again. Half way through our meal we were being given semi warm dishes with no explanation from the food runners. We were never asked if we would like more drinks. Toward the end of our meal we were ready to get the check and leave. We repeatedly tried to flag down the waiter and got overlooked. About 20 minutes later he returned and we requested the check. Another 15 minutes went by with no check so I spoke with a manager and told them this was the worst customer service we have ever experienced. I can appreciate they were busy because of NYE. However when you are expecting a high end dining experience and you receive Cheesecake Factory at best, it is disappointing. The manager was very accommodating and nice. He offered a discount on the meal which was appreciated. Overall it was just a very disappointing experience for a very special evening.

This was our second visit on New Year's Eve. The food was excellent. The service was good but not excellent. The noise level was too high for table conversation. Part of the fun was sharing our opinions of food items with diners at nearby tables. The wine list was excellent and included a number of 3 oz pours from excellent nearby wineries.

Not up to NYC standards. Large portions for the price but sushi was just ok. Seafood toban taki portion was generous with shrimp, lobster, crab, mussels & clams although I thought It tasted more like ciopinno. Both wife and daughter had sushi and said some of the fish was past its prime

Truly a wonderful culinary experience. However, we were unprepared for a 4 hour meal, so if you order the tasting menu, understand that this process may be longer than most other tasting experiences you may have had. Also, pace yourself. The portions are smaller than the regular menu but the regular menu is quite large on its own, so this is quite an amount of food. Everything is perfectly prepared and consciously developed into a taste experience that can only be expected from a Morimoto restaurant. I would recommend any of the sushi/sashimi, the pork belly, and dessert. The seafood is as fresh as it gets. The only misstep was the timing, and an unfortunate plating of a type of fondue. The bowl was out of balance so every time we attempted to spear a vegetable the burning plate would almost topple. And while the presentation was absolutely a lovely arrangement of a lighted bowl, the oil was not hot enough throughout and scorched the anchovy garlic paste inside the oil at the bottom. I hope to go back anytime we are in the area.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Morimotos. Overall it was a good experience; however, we were disappointed with the braised octopus. It was mushy not soft and tender. Our server was good but he had to be reminded of a few items we ordered. Nevertheless, the sashimi, sushi, and many other dishes were delicious. The presentation itself would deserve a 5 stars.

Morimoto in Napa was amazing. Each dish we tried hit the spot. Starting off with the Tuna pizza was a great choice. Following up with the short rib that finished off the intro properly. Main course with the yellow tail and the Cod were great, but the yellow tail stood out. The 500 degree bowl and preparation right in front of me was a great experience.

We enjoyed the monkey bread for desert and the ending always counts and that it did. The desert finished off the date night better than expected.

“Eat Good, Feel Good!” These were the thoughts my date and I left Morimoto with. Might have to go back one more time before heading back home!!
