We’ve been to Morimoto’s a few times and we love it. That’s why we go back as often as we can.
This time was different, and it sucks because we brought family who had never been there before and it was their anniversary. I made a reservation a month in advance, at that time outdoor seating was the only option, but things changed and indoor was now an option, however we were never alerted or given an option to dine indoors.
We were sat as far from the building as possible and we could see many others around us had little tents and were more covered from the elements. It was freezing cold and my husband went in to let the hostess know that we had made a reservation a month before and we were freezing outside and if she could please find us a table inside. She said she would, but then never did.
Our server was not on top of things; we frequently had to ask for refills and she wasn’t very friendly, nor did she talk about the menu as they have done in the past. It was a lousy experience compared to what we’ve experienced multiple times previously. I brought this up with the manager and I felt like his excuse was that they are still figuring things out... you’ve had a year to figure it out.
Needless to say, I don’t know if we will go back there again anytime in the near future. The food was still amazing, but the service was so terrible. My advice is to make sure you sit indoors or ask for a “tented” table outside if you plan to go when the weather is cold.
Took my Wife to Morimoto in Napa today. Would have shared photos but we were so disappointed. It is to Japanese food, like PF Chang's is to Chinese, at 3 times the price. My recommendation is, if you love PF Chang's and don't mind spending 3 times more then go, but if you actually appreciate Japanese food, then don't.
Limited indoor dining but outdoor is available also. Good spacing between tables. Staff is very knowledgeable about food with good recommendations.
I was gonna give 6 Stars for the service if it was possible
Service was off the chart. Kudos to Josh and the staff.
Outstanding food and phenomenal staff. What more can you ask?
I always feel pampered when I’m dining here.
We statred with over cooked & over seasoned edamame. Sushi rolls very limited. Entrees have no miso or salad and are over priced when they don't come with any rice. The only saving grace was poprock dessert was creative and tasty. I had high expectations, but for the price really fell short.
Highly recommend. some of the best sushi in california.
Morimoto does not disappoint every time I get to have a chance to have a meal here. The dishes are always top-notch with the highest regard to quality. I had the black cod, a few sashimi (salmon, amberjack, snapper, unagi and few others). The duck confit rice was also very yummy. Will come back here whenever I'm in the area.
Morimotos did the best job I experienced in Napa at keeping comfortable outdoors as well as intimate spaces. The food was delicious, pricing was expected. The chefs selection plate was easily the best value. The gyoza appetizer was delicious and unique. The sushi was fresh and delicious. My only negative was a couple who sat by us kept FaceTiming during dinner. At such a high end restaurant I wonder if the staff could have politely asked them to stop. That being said, the service was wonderful, the waitress was very helpful explaining some of the different ingredients. I had a white lily martini and it was incredible and extremely unique, I’ve never something like it before. Highly recommend!
Food was average. Nothing special. Prices were not conducive to the quality.
For our special occasion (birthday + retirement) celebration, we were seated in a dark, closed off outdoor area of the restaurant behind big white tents next to dirty glass and a wall. I asked if we could be seated n the sunshine and fresh air and was told no. Their were only two of us and I made our reservations well in advance. The restaurant reeked of fried food when we entered. The tuna taco appwtizer was bland and the hard shell "tacos" were stale. The sushi and drinks were okay. Not at all what I expected. Do not recommend and will never return.
We really enjoyed our time (as we always do). We sat outside with social distancing and well placed heaters for February. The whole experience was great. We ordered the special sashimi. Would recommend to all. And the mushrooms were amazing!
Awesome place all around. Great food, service, cocktails, and ambiance!!
They did an incredible job with their outdoor seating area. You could tell the how much effort and work the employees put into ensuring an enjoyable dining experience. Food of course was impeccable and always delicious.
The appetizers and the soup were amazing, however, the rolls were extremely small and lacked flavor. I expected more.
Came here to celebrate me and my sisters birthday. The whole staff was super friendly and amazing. They all said happy birthday to us and even gave us some complimentary champagne! Our server (forgot their name..) was exceptional, they were very attentive but patient (we had a hard time choosing what to order). Atmosphere was good, lots of patio heaters and comfortable seating. Food was amazing! We wanted to order the omakase but they were not serving it during that time. We ended up making our own with the wagyu carpaccio, hamachi tacos, clam miso soup, duck fried rice and chef's combination sushi. The wagyu carpaccio was super tender and flavorful. The hamachi tacos were pretty small but delicious. The clam miso was packed with flavor and has a good amount of manila clams. The duck fried rice was a little rich for my taste but was in no way bad tasting. The chef's combination sushi was probably my favorite, tons of variety and fresh delicious fish. For drinks I went with the matcha mango cocktail that was supposed be made with a green tea vodka, couldn't really taste the green tea. My sister went with the white lily which was superb, I'm getting that one next time. Overall great experience, will definitely be back again!
Everything was exceptional!! Must go!!
Our server Amir made our dining experience interstellar.
Knowledgeable, great humor, and excellent menu + wine suggestions.
The food was wonderful. Being able to sit outside and enjoy a lovely, leisurely lunch with superb service was a wonderful experience.
Thank you, Amir!
Sushi was unfortunately very disappointing - not up to the standards of the rest of Morimoto's food. Tuna tacos were small but very tasty though
Pleasantly surprised by our experience. Our server, Amir, was so charming and knowledgeable and really elevated or experience.
We went for a friend’s birthday, and we tried many dishes on the menu, including: tuna tacos, sashimi pizza, short ribs, popcorn shrimp, a couple sushi rolls, duck fat fries, edamame, gyoza, and a few cocktails.
Everything was delicious and well-balanced. I’m not positive if the name of the dish was popcorn shrimp, and I’m not normally a big shrimp lover, but I loved this one. It was served in two different sauces, and is was crunchy and soft & so flavorful. Also not a huge ribs person and loved that dish, too. I am a French fry person, but even those duck fat fries (which were delish) were overshadowed by the more complex dishes. So good!
The only thing that didn’t knock my socks off was the cocktails. I would’ve preferred sake, but all my friends wanted cocktails, so we got cocktails. They weren’t the best in my opinion, but I still finished mine LOL!
We all had a couple of bites of the s’mores dessert, and that also did not disappoint.
I keep saying reviews about a limited menu, and it really didn’t feel like a limited menu to me. It’s possible it was, but it felt like an offered many choices.
I can’t wait to go back!
Service is noticeably very good . Will come back again
Everything was great, except that we had to eat in the outdoor tent instead of inside but what can you do? :-) It was still a great experience.
A fantastic experience.
The food is amazing as are the servers who went out of their way to make it a great night!
Great friendly service. The sushi was amazing. Definitely recommend
Excellent service - attentive, informative and friendly.
Definitely a really great place to go to for a special occasion! Would definitely go again!
Valentines dinner! Loved it! Great service and amazing food
Great ambiance and excellent food. Order the sake flight you get a variety and they’re stellar.
Food and service was amazing! Outdoor seating could be improved. Felt a little claustrophobic in those tiny tents with tables so close.
Been here a few times normally love the food but this time they definitely gave us some fish that was passed its prime
Great service and fantastic food
Thank you
Love! Love! Love!
It was a Christmas celebration! I loved the food, ambiance and the service was outstanding! I would definitely go again!
Food is always hands down amazing and delicious! We ordered a bunch to share and was pleasantly full afterwards. Not one single item was unfinished. Outside dining was good. They did the best they can but it’s just cold! No complaints with service and quality. Will definitely return.
Well done!
Wonderful service. Excellent food.
As always, wonderful service and exquisite sushi that is well presented.
The staff at Moriomoto's is fantastic. Amir our server and Francisco the busser make you feel that you are a valued friend. Add a wonderful quality of fish served artistically and you have a wonderful dining experience. I recommend Morimoto's at Napa without hesitation.
The food was pretty good . Seemed like an off night maybe . The servers where excellent.
Excellent service and the food was delicious. Great time
Had a great lunch with my son of which he also filmed his experience and thoughts on his video blog called Lincoln Likes Food. Here is video YouTube link: https://youtu.be/nj8pn338JRE
