Started off with the octopus, by far the best I’ve had. Sticky ribs were outstanding. Beautiful ambiance and decor. Definitely recommend for a date night / special occasion. The service was great, and staff were very kind.
I have had drinks and appetizers at the bar several times. Food and ambiance was excellent. Maybe I just caught them on an off night. Experience and food were good but not exceptional. When I made reservations I was asked if there was a special occasion. I told them (by computer) that is was my wife’s birthday. That event went unnoticed until it was mentioned. Expected a better experience for the price.
Excellent food and service. The prices are high for both food and drinks. Definitely a restaurant for "once in a while".
The food was phenomenal. Every thing that our party ordered was beautiful, fresh and delicious. We all ordered drinks off their specialty cocktail menu and again, all of them were well-balanced, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The Manhattan is not to be missed. If this review was focused just on the food and drinks, I would give it 5 stars. However, the service didn't quite measure up to the food/cocktails. There were long periods of time when no one visited the table - even when we had been ready for a while to order something else or to order more drinks. But honestly, the most disappointing part was that I had noted on my opentable reservation that we were celebrating my wife's 50th birthday with dear friends from out of town. There was ZERO acknowledgement that we were celebrating a special occasion, and a member of our party went at some point to remind them. The only acknowledgement after that was a single birthday cake candle stuck to a dessert that wasn't even the one my wife ordered - it belonged to another member of our group. That was the first time I have celebrated a special event at a restaurant of this caliber and been supremely disappointed in the service. So - go for the food and drinks for sure. But don't expect any acknowledgement if you are there to celebrate a special occasion.
Best overall meal I’ve ever had.
We had the bone marrow and octopus for our appetizers. So delicious. Then I had the toro and the Duck Duck Goose as my main course. My husband had the carbonara. The carbonara kind of changed my life.
We had the soufflé for our dessert and the deconstructed presentation was refreshing and delicious.
Loved every aspect of our experience!
It was very good food. People around us seemed to love the tasting menu. The food itself was the draw. It was delicious but a little overpriced and the acoustics inside are so bad we couldn’t hear. Each other at all. There was not an option to sit side by side except at the sushi bar- which I think I would have preferred. Lots of tables crammed in together where we were.
My husband took me to Napa for my birthday and I had already made reservations elsewhere for Saturday. We first went to Zuzu and had apps. We then decided to walk around and try another restaurant. We walked by Morimoto and my husband knew I'm a big fan of him from The Food Network channel and always said I'll go one day.
I was able to get a reservation within minutes and our server was very nice and friendly. The food on the other hand was unfortunately nothing we've never had before. The flavors were good but nothing especial. My husband had sushi and was very dissapointed...
I'm afraid we won't be going back any time soon.😔
This is the best restaurant in Napa. The menu offers something for everyone and the staff are just fabulous ~ especially Brie! The fish is very fresh, the cocktails are awesome and if you don't try the Waygu Carparchio - you've missed out! Enjoy!
I got disappointed with Marimoto, the service was not good, they put us in a table isolated from the rest of the restaurant and beside a very noise large table, we had to ask to be moved. The food was good but the service very careless with our orders. We ordered the chef's menu. The sushi was very good but the rolls no. I don't intend to go there again.
Work celebration/incentive. It was amazing. Great food and fun company.
Food and atmosphere is amazing.
We made a special trip to eat at Morimoto Napa. As travelers from Vancouver, BC it was one of the focal points of our driving trip and it was a real treat to add to our list of places to go.
Our meal was so memorable. I loved my toro tartare appetizer! It was beautiful and tasty, and the fact it was interactive made it fun to eat as well.
We ordered the sashimi Caesar salad, spicy green beans, California roll, spicy tuna roll, and the buri bop (another interactive dish!) - all were very flavourful and we were so happy with our choices.
As we were celebrating a special occasion (getting engaged in San Francisco) we were treated to complimentary glasses of sparkling wine (or maybe it was champagne?) courtesy of our amazing server. This made our dinner experience even more special than it already was. Thank you!
We don’t live close by, but I’m certain that should we end up in Napa again that we would go to Morimoto Napa for another lovely meal.
Always order the spicy Alaskan king crab & gyozas.
Food and service were fantastic! Menu was deep with a lot of options for people who may not like sushi. Meal pace was great as it took about 1.5 hours from start to finish.
The biggest downside of the space was the noise levels. The room was one big echo chamber so people had to yell to communicate.
Service was great as always. Food is very good. Cocktails are awesome and on point. Been celebrating my anniversary here for 8 yrs running. Can’t wait until again.
Desperate and not relevant. Noisy so horrible for a date. Tables not close so your date is a few feet away. Limited menu. Oversalted food, fish only for $35 and no other condiments such as rice, which would be typical. Very 'gross' , almost like the wait staff knew as they asked every 2 minutes if everything was ok. This was clearly annoying. One of worst meals ever.
Excellent service by Vanessa & Giselle!!!
My boyfriend and I have visited morimotos restaurant in Hawaii. When we saw that there was a location in Napa which is about an hour away from our home we were thrilled! I recommend this to everyone! We both get the chefs special! We were given free wine, not that everyone will.. but it was a sweet touch! and the waitress secretly saw it was my birthday and they brought me out a birthday candle with dessert. Over all, the best meal I have ever had. Highly recommend to try it ! It’s. Pricey ! But well worth the price. And the staff is best of the best!
Our whole meal was outstanding but I need to make a special mention for the Sea Urchin Carbonara.....it was the ultimate in comfort and Umami.
Everything on this menu is AMAZING! Now Im COMPLETELY HOOKED ON THEIR “ANGRY CHICKEN “. Service is always over the top. One of my TOP THREE favs in town!!
Loved it, as always 🙌👍
Omakase was disappointing. What should have been a great experience was marred by subpar food and extremely slow service. A couple high points but overall ... overcooked and under seasoned.
The food and ambiance are absolutely phenomenal! Service in our area was a little lax, but to enjoy a great meal, look past the one time occurrence and have the experience of dining here!
You’ll have to break out your wallet for a few things that would be significantly less elsewhere, but taste and presentation makes you forget!
Always have excellent service and waiters and servers know the menu very well. Excellent food and ambiance, a must go if you're in downtown Napa. Not just known for the "usual" Japanese food, but also has Asian fusion type of food. My husband loves the ribeye or the NY strip, the fried seabass (deboned for your convenience) and the yellowtail buri bop was delicious. The wasabi was amazing--from Japan! I would recommend this for a great lunch or dinner date with your significant other or a group.
Extremely slow, poor, unapologetic and inattentive service. For the price point and locality, this should not be normal. Impossible to hear over the loud dance club music and the loud shouting of other diners. Multiple broken plates and glasses throughout the duration of our meal. Omakase was uninspired and bland in palette and in all aspects. Will never return.
We ordered the tasting menu. As someone o is not very adventurous in food (including Japanese), the tasting menu was spot on! Delicious - each of the 8 courses! Our girls night was splendid!
Great sushi plates. I wasn’t feeling the rice hot stone dish. It looked cool during the presentation but lacked flavor. I also had the tempura salad which was good.
Fun place, very creative menu. Hamachi Tartare was outstanding. Braised octopus was OK. Sea Urchin carbonara was excellent. Shortribs were Ok as well.
Excellent experience. We were so glad to be able to dine outside. Everything about the restaurant is excellent except the noise level when eating inside. Outside is very peaceful.
Positive. Quality food full of flavor presented uniquely in Morimoto style. My favorite restaurant.
I love the ambiance but the food wasn’t amazing. It could have been what we ordered but I was also a little disappointed in how long we waited for our server to take our order. A waitress who was serving the table next to us ended up taking our order and acknowledging what we needed. Towards the end of our dinner, our server forgot to bring something I had ordered for 15 minutes prior. When our server saw me raise my hand, I think he realized what he had forgot and ask someone else to come tell me it was on it’s way.
We went for a late lunch. Elegant presentation and proper service. As always, the most fresh delicious sushi. Beautiful restaurant in the wonderful Napa Valley; we are never disappointed at Morimoto.
Ordered a glass of wine and got a bottle.... $660 on the bill.
Omakase was very good, but the wine experience completely destroyed the evening.
Fun & Trendy . . . and a great place to see and be seen. The food overall is very good and the service for us this evening was great. Something for everyone . . . from drinks . . . to sushi . . . to salads . . . to popcorn shrimp . . . and fun desserts - give it a shot.
The octopus dish is stupid good. I’ve been mildly obsessed with finding the best octopus dish and thus far, Morimoto takes the cake. The sake sommelier (is that a thing?) gave a proud background on all four sakes in our flight. The quality of the fish is of the finest quality you would expect from Morimoto. Definitely worth spending a few bucks on when in Napa.
Service was great and all staff was friendly. Atmosphere was comfortable and clean. Food was amazing with multiple flavors
Sushi was excellent. Our waiter was very helpful
Did not like the table seating. The sticky ribs were awesome and the salmon roll was really good. Fantastic service and dessert was delish! The yellow tail bop was ok.
We go to Morimoto's at least once a year and we always order the Omakase! We've never been disappointed with the food.
I’ve been a fan of Chef Morimoto since his debut on the original Japanese Iron Chef show and had high expectations. Those expectations were met and exceeded. The greeting hostess was gracious, warm and friendly. Our superb wait-staff person Chris elevated our dining experience with his excellent recommendations, professionalism, and wit and humor that reflected a depth and breadth of knowledge of food and pairings that can only be gained by someone who has a sincere commitment, dedication and enjoyment of their chosen profession. Everything we ordered showed a thoughtfulness and skill in their execution and presentation and, most importantly, tasted as good as it looked. The interior design reflected simplicity, elegance and warmth. We were warned by good friends that it could get quite loud so we were prepared for the rising noise level as more customers arrived, though for some I could see this being more of an issue than it was for us. There is no doubt that we will be back!
