Morimoto - Maui Ratings and Reviews
We chose the “Morimoto Omakase” with the wagyu beef, chef’s choice multi-course tasting menu. We also had the Sake pairing that went along with it. Absolutely spectacular! Although expensive, the multiple courses, and variety of both food and Sake made for great value! We shared the Sake tasting and had far more than enough for two. It made for a truly memorable evening...and the beach front location with sunset didn’t hurt either.
Our waiter gave us a bottle.of sake that was about $50 more than the one I ordered. And my crispy whole fish, while it was tasty, smelled very fishy. I didnt want to complain because we were with friends but it was a dissatisfying meal to say the least.. :(
The food was absolutely amazing. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The drinks were exciting and tasty.
The atmosphere was warm and the setting out by the pool was very cool.
Perfect place for a fancy date or celebratory evening. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a gorgeous meal and wonderful atmosphere.
We celebrated my husbands 60th birthday there for dinner. This is by far one of the best places we’ve dined at. The food was stupendous from the mouth watering white Carpaccio Salad and tasty bone marrow starters to the outstanding main dishes and the delightful malasadas for dessert. Every dish looked and tasted excellent. Even the yummy dishes our table mates on either side of us were eating looked sooo good. Will have to come back to try out all the other dishes!
The ambiance was nice but it was packed even on a Wednesday night. By 830pm when we left they had run out of some of their popular dishes like the Malasada doughnuts and certain fish dishes. It was fun and energetic atmosphere inside dining room but not private. Tables are very close to one another. They had outdoor tables where it is more spread out, quiet and romantic. Next time that’s where we want to sit next time.
The waiter and staff were very professional, friendly and made excellent recommendations on the food if you just can’t decide!
Overall, a wonderful experience and will definitely return.
This restaurant is one of my favorites in Maui! I chose Morimotos to celebrate my birthday this year. What a special way to end a special day. Complimentary champagne was a pleasant unexpected surprise! The service was amazing.
I would recommend the outside seating for a more romantic ambience.they even arranged a gorgeous sunset for us This is a memory that I will always cherish.
i found this place online while looking for good food on the island. My dad being a chef he always wants to dine in only the best restaurants. I can honestly say this place has the best sushi i have ever tried. its fresh and just melts in your mouth. Our waitress Heidi knew the menu exceptionally well and her recommendations were spot on and made our experience even more amazing. The Sake flights she suggested were phenomenal and the Tempura Calamari Salad i had was light but filling. The restaurant is a bit hiding inside a hotel but so worth the drive and the ocean view is beautiful.
The service was terribly slow. Not that we were in a hurry, but it took 20 minutes for anyone to even come acknowledge we had been seated. And another 15 minutes for them to bring us our bottle of Sake. We ordered the chef’s sushi tasting. The sushi was average, the service was brutal. It took us 30 minutes to try and flag our waitress down to pay the bill. We ended up just stopping a bus boy and asking him for it
Morimoto had incredible food with gorgeous presentation. Unfortunately, my husband got sick on our trip,( he had a big previously) and the staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating, packing us soup and rice for his stomach. Thank you to the staff and management, as I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
We’ve eaten here three times now & never disappointed. It was even better this time as we had friends with us to share the amazing food, so we could try more dishes. The servers amazing knowledge topped the special evening
The food was good, however small portions and quite expensive ($150 for two). The Cod fish was delicious and the Sushi rolls were okay. I definitely recommend the pot stickers, the green tea and the donuts for dessert. The side of potatoes were just unseasoned fingerling potatoes. The overall experience may have been better, but we were seated right next to the hotel pool and kids were splashing and yelling away. It was not quiet, romantic, or have a good view.
I will start out by saying that I was really excited to have a dinner there. I booked it 3 months in advance to coming to Hawaii. We ordered 2 appetizers which were great. The main course was a seafood spicy dish - almost every type of shellfish was over cooked, shrimp, lobster and scallops.
If you are a normal person who makes a normal wage, and not high society don’t bother going. You sit around silly people who love to flont how much money they have! “Did you get your metal America express card in the mail yet, cause I just got mine”. It was just sad. I wish I could write all of what was talked about at a really high volume so everyone could hear.
If you’re coming to Maui on vacation and looking for a really good meal, don’t bother here. There were so many other places that I went to that were way better for so much less. It so disappointing to say this was my least favorite meal on Maui.
Third visit in the last couple years which I think is enough. Menu hasn't changed and it wasn't as exciting to have the same stuff. Sashimi is excellent, rolls are great, tuna tartar is fun with the kids. You should do it if you haven't. However, our server Scott put a total downer on the night so much that it stimulated me to share. My family and I sat over ten minutes before Scott came to the table to take our drink order. When he did finally come he was flustered and impatient with us. He didn't discuss the menu or specials etc. and seemed like we were inconveniencing him by being there. Mind you that when we arrived there were only three tables yet it seemed like he didnt want to serve us. I don't know....maybe his cat died. Regardless, his communication skills are poor and his demeanor is condescending and rude. Throughout the whole meal his service was dismal and inattentive and didn't improve. For a $300 tab for the four of us I expect more and we have had great service at Morimoto in the past. It's unfortunate that Morimoto would allow such a poor server to detract from their fine food. The young man helping him though was courteous and friendly and would have done a better job if he was taking care of our table.
We chose Morioto because we had heard good things about the restaurant and we were not disappointed. The only draw back is that the tables for two are close together and turned so that a private conversation is almost impossible. We solved the problem by sitting close together on the cushioned bench seat for drinks and between courses. We would definitely recommend Morioto for any occasion.
Food was absolutely deliiiiiish as expected from a Morimoto's on Maui! Went for Restaurant Week Wailea and the sushi/rolls was so fresh and tasty. Tofu cheesecake(?!?!) was surprisingly very good! Not too sweet and deliciously fluffy. Definitely going back for their dinner menu. Located in scenic Mokapu Beach at the Andaz at Wailea Resort, this is truly a dining experience not to be missed. Now the bad/mediocre... Service needs work: very disjointed with hosts/servers who need more training and personality. That being said, it's a busy restaurant with demanding clientele so understandable to a degree that service levels dwindle. If anything, go for the food and the spectacular views/scenery!
Our server was absolutely terrible! The black cod was under cooked nearly raw. The food came out at random times. One of the people didn't get his sushi until everyone else was done eating. Then they informed him some of his selection was not available. They should have told him that when he ordered so he could order something else. I told the manager and all he did was make excuses for the waiter. Terrible service. We used to go every 6 months when we go to Maui but will not return now. Too many other good places to eat in Maui to waste your time and money here.
Awful experience - waiter was the worst, not helpful at all. Food never came out together despite telling waiter what the main entree was. Can find better restaurants with better service, and food and ambience than this restaurant. I never write reviews good or bad but this was so bad had to say so something this time.
