This restaurant is part of the andaz hotel which looks very nice. However since we were not staying there I suspect was the reason we were seated indoors without the beautiful view you might want to bear in mind. Everyone can't get best seating but odds better at non hotel restaurant.

Overall service was very good but our server was excellent. The food was delicious but most impressive was the presentation. It is pricey but would recommend for a special occasion.

We had heard so much about this restaurant and was very disappointed. Out of 2 items we wanted at a 5:30 reservation, food was salty. For what we paid, not s great value.

Absolutely great food. However, the service was a little bit lacking. Menu could have been explained better. Warm towel tray stayed on our table way too long. They forgot to put in a side order for us. Main course took longer to come out than I was expecting for our meals. Basically for the amount you are ready and willing to spend here, you would think the service would be better.

Just a quick FYI. I received an email indicating that we did not show up for our reservation. But we did! And it was lovely!

I was very excited to have the chance to go to this restaurant, but for the money - close to $600 after tip for a party of three - I was very disappointed in Morimoto. The ambience is awful, the indoor tables and bar especially, the space felt very much like an average hotel restaurant, thankfully we waited to get a table outside. The bar is very small, and service was lackluster. For example, I don't think patrons should have to ask for a water, and drinks should be served on a napkin so the condensation doesn't constantly spill on your clothes. The tables weren't bussed (we bussed our own) and overall the bartenders seemed to be in zombie mode. The food was good and interesting as should be expected. The sushi, gyoza, and onion soup in particular, but I've had much better meals and nothing really blew me away. I might recommend this spot for appetizers, drinks or sushi - outside at the bar - but the bar is so small I can't say it'd be a great dining experience. I recommend Mama's Fish House and The Mill House for a much better overall experience, particularly when it comes to service and ambience.

This place is great for authentic japan style sushi- all the pieces of fish are fantastic and need very little sauce if any at all. This is not the place for the Spicy mayo roll loving sushi goer, omokase is a great option as well as one of the chefs choice sushi or sashimi plates

Was super excited to try this place out. Got in right at our allotted reservation time, restaurant was busy and towards the end of their peak dinner time. Our server was absolutely fantastic, personable and very informed on the menu including where product was from and how it is created. The server assistants were friendly and very attentive. We went with the Chef’s tasting menu (omakase) the highlight was the toro tartare and wagyu. Huge misses were the hot oil fondue with anchovy paste, foie that was more like a custard and the pre-dessert which was a multi layer thinly slice of cake with chocolate sauce that looked like it was haphazardly smeared on the plate. The oil fondue and foie courses really did not fit with the rest of the tasting menu and came out of left field and put everything off balance. Unfortunately we were let down on the tasting menu, for the money you pay I would suggest saving it and trying somewhere else.

We had a wonderful experience. We sat at the outside bar and had a couple pre-dinner drinks. The bar staff was very friendly and know how to make a good cocktail. We did have to wait 10 minutes after our reservation time to be seated, but this was a small inconvenience. Do not listen to the negative reviews about the staff.

Came here for lunch. I got the stone bowl bop, and my wife had sashimi combination. Both were great. My daughter ordered second bowl after finishing her ramen. Highly recommended for any occasions. Will try dinner next time. We were not staying at Andaz where the restaurant is located at the hotel's pool side. After the lunch, my wife and kids are thinking that we may stay at Andaz next time just because of the food there. (And other restaurants at the hotels seems all good too.).

We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu. Dinner was underwhelming. A few good dishes but overall was disappointing. Servers kept running into our table resulting in almost spilling our drinks 4 times. Don't like talking bad about a restaurant, we love experiencing new things, but taste was not there.

We visited this restaurant the last week of Dec during high season on Maui. We were very happy to get a reservation and recommend booking early. We visited as two parents with two college-age kids; all enthusiastic foodies. This restaurant rated as "most creative" as we evaluated all of our dining experiences this trip. We agreed the appetizers and desserts were the highlights. Recommend the carpaccio and calamari and chefs choice nigiri. For desserts, the donuts and the chocolate dish. The restaurant is located in the Andaz hotel which is gorgeous. Arrive early to see the hotel, enjoy a drink in the bar, or a walk along the boardwalk. They even offered us a swim in the pool. The restaurant sits on an elevation and can get chilly with evening winds so bring a layer. Excellent service even though they were packed. Very impressive.

For price was expecting a little more. Yellowtail was a little over cooked. Fried prawn dish was closer to a fast food dish. But service was attentive and knowledgeable. Location was great. Sunset on Maui.

Very disappointed in the overall service quality at this restaurant. For the second time in a row, I’ve encountered rude staff waiting on my table. The person even forgot to put in part of our order and honestly did not make me feel welcome and comfortable.

I am a frequent Maui visitor, and would not recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

This was me and my boyfriends first time coming here and the service and food was phenomenal! Our server Nancy made our special date night terrific. My boyfriend and I shared so much laughter with her. She’s so kind hearted and full of smiles; she was always smiling. I swear she was the best! It was a whole year before we had a date night and I’m thankful I went to Morimotos. Keanu, the busser, greeted us with such delight and genuine smiles. He was so polite! I also got to see my friend Klei who works there and he was still the same guy I met at the Hyatt. Hard working and always polite! He’s a smart guy and he’s a plus for your company (hi Klei). The only thing I didn’t like was the lady who explained to us what was in our food. She dropped it, explained it, and left; no smile at all. But that’s ok because I had a wonderful night; one to remember! Mahalo!

Wannabe high-end jammed into a resort.

Tables are packed together, omakase service timing was all over the map, and it's right next to the pool. Would acceptable for poolside burgers and drinks with little umbrellas, not for what they're charging for the ultimately underwhelming food.

If you're in Wailea and you like sushi, Morimoto's is a must.

Fantastic (but expensive) sushi. Highlights were the chu-toro and uni. They have many delicious appetizers as well. You can definitely run up a bill pretty quickly here. Service overall was very good, but we were seated around 9:30 and at around 9:45 we were told that the kitchen closes at 10:00 so we felt a bit rushed, so I took off a point for that.

Weak sauce. Made reservation 3 weeks in advance stated the occasion was 25 year anniversary....the only available time was 5:15 pm. I figured this place must be highly sought. They called 4 hours prior to date ensuring our attendance. We restated our occasion and requested a nice quiet view table. We were punctual, and they tried to seat us in a mid-room, no view table. And the place was empty! No joke. The restaurant was still 60% empty at 6:30! Were they waiting for the Pope and a 20 Cardinal walk in? The food was mediocre at best and rediculously priced although the waiter pumped the menu like it was the French laundry. Don't waste your time, expectations and money here. I now know what they called to confirm, the place is nearly insolvent. Morimoto, shame on you, iron chef? More like copper skillet. Menu and service may impress an Okie, but this shack has NOTHING on SF Bay Area cuisine. Avoid!

We enjoyed the seven course tasting menu on Christmas Eve. The courses were nicely presented and were delicious. The fish and seafood option was probably a better choice than the tasting menu with meat. We highly recommend Morimoto and suggest to book a table in advance. The ambiance and view on the terrace just after sunset is wonderful.

Another Amazing service and meal At Morimoto’s. Our Waiter Carlos was outstanding and engaged with my family throughout the evening suggesting great new food choices while just being a very cool guy in general. On point with all food suggestions and enjoyed the conversation with Carlos throughout the evening! Mahalo for that service level Carlos! We will be back to see you and hope you can take care of our family again! Mele Kalikimaka to you and your beautiful 5 year old daughter, beautiful photo you shared with us...definitely a proud papa! Kudos Morimoto it’s more than just the great food that brings us back...its people like Carlos on your team too! Cheers!

Quite a big drop off in quality since our last visit. A year ago we ate lunch several times and dinner once, always great. not this time. Place is still buzzy and convivial. Service was very rushed and Servers aggressive push to up sell to most expensive dishes and drinks was tacky. Most importantly the cooked food has gotten heavy handed compared to past...rock shrimp was greasy (was the best!) and the sea urchin pasta was a butter bomb. Sushi still great though. Pity but few competitors so they can get away with it. Maybe it was an off night.

Did not see the value in the money spent. I travel extensively and have been to some of the best restaurants in the world. I'm not afraid of spending money on a good meal. But the ambiance was very casual and did not make up for the expensive costs. The food was good, but I've had equivalent taste at significantly less cost in the orient. Overall a B-
