Morimoto - Maui

Waited for over an hour and it wasn’t that busy. Food was ok but not great
Morimoto wanted to be a baseball player before becoming a chef so he should understand that charging MLB prices for Double A quality food isn't great.
It was our ten year anniversary so we look for somewhere to celebrate. Sunset, great food and great service how could you go wrong! Ordered the Chef special sushi medium size which was plenty of food. Had the donuts that were awesome.
Food was phenomenal...service was phenomenal...atmosphere was phenomenal!!! Nothing bad to say, only wonderful things. Highly recommend the entrees & sushi...heck, do like we did & have an entree for dinner & go back the next day for a sushi lunch!
Perfect meal with great service an amazing view and yummy cocktails! Who could want anything more. Morimoto is one of our must eat locations every time we come to Maui!
We ordered the $80 steak. It tasted like the dumbed and entire salt shaker’s worth of salt on the meat. We complained and they weren’t able to offer us any discount. What a disappointment.
Really good, really cool. The food runners were amazing very detailed about the food and made the experience sweet! Main waiter was okay food quality 4.5 out of 5.
Food was fantastic! Our waiter, Terry, was awesome!
The food and service are always wonderful.
The omakase is the best but always really filling- I’m never able to add on the wagyu option.
Expect to shell out some $$$ but the food is tasty and beautiful.
Top notch food and presentation. Excellent server and bar tender. Beautiful setting.
The food is subpar, the ambiance is very loud, and the staff looks like they hate their jobs.
I thought choosing this restaurant to celebrate a 40th birthday was a good choice. The food was good. The service...meh. Ambiance satisfactory as we were sandwiches in between parties and even had to share a couch with a stranger. It was very noisy and I felt like I was screaming just to talk to my partner. Our table wobbled even after it was fixed while we were having dinner. We ordered the 10 course omakase and left with a $500+ bill. Overall, the experience was a little more than mediocre and next time we would pass on Morimoto.
The service could have been better. Simple things like not having silverware before the food arrives is easily avoidable.
Everyone seemed a little off of their game. It may be a while until a return visit.
We ordered a few different kinds of sushi. The food did not leave me dazzled, but the beach setting cannot be beat.
Tasting menu was fantastic
our waiter Terry gave excellent service. The food was outstanding as usual.
Their chef's choice menu is the best tasting menu I've had in 5 years.
Beautiful restaurant overlooking the beach. The resort itself is lovely, so it’s nice having a delicious restaurant to go to also. Food was very fresh and service was wonderful. A little pricey but that’s what you get with Maui!
We were alittle nervous about the restaurant before going considering how many negative reviews are on yelp and google. But the experience was amazing, food was great, and I don’t understand how anyone could have a completely negative experience! Only small complaint is the spacing of the tables, kind of tight and hard to have a conversation without the people right next to you tuning in. 10/10 overall experience.
Great food and that’s why you go. The location in the resort is perfect overlooking the ocean. If you time it just right you can see the sun go down. Service was excellent. Highly recommend
Chefs 7 course tasting menu was a surprise with every dish. Unbelievable presentation and detail in creating each plate.
Delicious meal in a beautiful setting. We stayed st this hotel 18 years ago on our honeymoon and wanted to check out the new renovations. It is gorgeous and the restaurant was fantastic. Steaks were delicious and the Angry Chicken and Cos dinners had great flavor. The Maki was so fresh and tasty. Service was fantastic.
Food , atmosphere scenery were amazing. Service just forgot the special birthday Would have been just the perfect end to a planned dinner. But since they forgot we didn’t remind them.
Waited 10 minutes over our reservation time. No one came out to service us, I had to be the one to let them know we were still waiting. Once I did, hostess asked me if I was still waiting for a inside table, as to assume we were??? I told her we were just waiting for a table in general, it didn't matter where it was. Almost 815 and we got sat inside. Waited for about another 10 minutes with no service whatsoever. We got up and left
Petra along with her staff took great of us. She is so knowledgable about the menu.
Everything was great, we ordered alot of food.
I honestly wouldn't go back here and don't recommend others bother. The service was attentive but we were the first group in the door for the evening. The food was creative but not the tastiest. Cocktails were underwhelming. For the price it really was a let-down. I highly recommend the restaurant upstairs as a go to instead. Ka'ana gets 5 stars from me in all categories.
I’m not someone to sit down and write about restaurant experiences but this was something I felt I needed to share. My girlfriend and I had the nine course chef’s menu paired with sake. Each of the people who brought the different courses and explained them were phenomenal. Our waitress, Sarah Lopez, helped make this the best dining experience either of us have ever had. We’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world and the food and her service was incredible. She described it as “an amazing experience” when we asked about the menu and she couldn’t have been more right. Each of the courses, from the tuna tartare to the fish carpaccio to the INCREDIBLE A-5 waygu steak and scallop, absolutely blew our mind. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food and once in a lifetime experiences.
There are lots on the menu to choose from, but a few items where sold out and was only advised by out server when I tried to ordered one of the items. Our main dish was the $90 sushi platter. The ingredients were fresh however as a sushi enthusiastist (by far not an expect but definitely had devoured enough to know a little), the miss on the meal was the rice. The rice left a sour taste therefore made consuming and enjoying the pieces difficult. About halfway through the 30 pieces I was ready to throw in the towel. I did what Japanese chefs would consider offensive, I consumed just the fish and discarded the rice. This was the reason for the low rating - although basic, rice is and should always be the star of sushi.
Service was great our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly as were the bartenders who served us while we waited to be seated. We had the Wagu steak with salted potatoes, and eel and shrimp tempura sushi rolls. Everything was delicious. We a great view of the sunset as we dined which topped off an excellent dinner.
Wow... how overrated can a restaurant be. Greetings...ok. Seating ridiculous. I think table next to us , both sides, less than a foot away. Server... her head was somewhere else. Food... only ok. For the money, compare to Nobu and add rudeness. Never again, even if we stay at Andaz. Sorry
Terrible service! Waited 40 minutes only to have my cocktail, wine parring and first course all arrive at once. Subsequent courses wine parring came late every single course! No apologies or amends offered.
For the money spent I could go to Mamas Fish House TWICE and have the proper service.
Fantastic but you pay for fantastic! Toro amaaaaazing . Sublime local sushi. Drinks fantastic.
Excellent. You will not be disappointed. The toro is amazing. Octopus appetizer is fabulous. Great selection of local fish.
We were really excited for this meal as it was the last of our vacation and had dined previously at Morimoto in NYC. We could not have been more mistaken as the quality of the food was akin to a suburban sushi chain (separate of a pork belly appetizer which was excellent), not what we would have expected from a restaurant Morimoto would attach his name and brand to. Unfortunately the bad news doesn’t stop there. The service was slow and pushy to sell additional food and upcharges. While ordering, our server told us we hadn’t ordered enough food and convinced us to get an additional 2 dishes that were unnecessary and left untouched. We waited well past our reservation time for our table while we watched numerous tables set and ready to go, and once we were sat, it took almost an hour for us to get our first appetizer. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing and expensive experience.
We love Morimoto’s, but it is very pricey for those who have never been. I only wanted to make comment on the sashimi (12pieces, tuna, salmon and hamachi) we paid $72.00 and it was good at best and went to Humble Market kitchen at the Wailea beach resort, Marriott Maui last night and had their 12 piece sashimi (tuna, tuna taki, salmon and hamachi) and it was a bigger portion, tasted so much better ( so much so, we ordered a second order) for only $32.00!!!
I can’t give enough praise to Humble market for great food and service! Sorry, Mortimoto’s we found a new love and may not come back..
Great experience with outdoor dining, great service and music of the luau as well.
Great food and efficient, professional service. Nice atmosphere.
The food was great but the service was poor and special requests that were coordinated were not accommodated and fotgotten about restaurant. When we arrived they did not care to try to accommodate.
Do not go for a special occasion or with any special requests. For this price it is probably not going for an everyday meal either.
Wonderful service and great food!!!
Came for honeymoon dinner. Seated quickly for our 6:30p reservation -indoors but right next to where the restaurant opens up to oceanview so we had a wonderful sunset. Waitress Sarah was very personable and answered (or found the answers) to all our menu questions; checked in with us the perfect number of times. Spritzers and edamame came to table w/in 5 min of talking to Sarah. Then ordered chef choice sushi (10 nigiri + 1 roll), o-toro nigiri, curry snapper, and A5 wagyu steak, followed by sorbet dessert. Among the freshest sushi I have ever eaten. O-toro, and wagyu steak melted in our mouths. Curry snapper was so soft, wonderfully flavored. Sorbet came as set of yuzu, papaya, and coconut and was a PERFECTLY LIGHT finish to the meal. Overall an INCREDIBLE dinner experience at Morimoto Maui; we left full and very happy. Wallet also happy since the above selections still cost less than two omakase; next time we return we will likely do omakase since everything we had this first time was so good.
