I’ve had better sushi from a grocery store
Amazing service - we chose to let our server and the chefs choose our menu and they did an outstanding job - absolutely will be coming back every time we come to Maui. Amazing pork bao buns and high quality sashimi - best toro I’ve had!
Fantastic dinner. Our dinner reservations were for 7pm but opted to come in earlier and we caught the tail end of a beautiful sunset. Service was great and the food is amazing. The hotel grounds was breathtaking.
We have been coming to Maui for our anniversary for years and this was one of our best meals ever. The service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive, the food was excellent, the plates were beautiful, and the grounds and the view are exquisite.
Just not what I expected having eating at the waikiki location , very dissapointed
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Morimoto Maui. We booked over a month in advance and we’re only able to secure an afternoon reservation. Being a guest of the hotel where the restaurant is located didn’t give us any advantage. We sat outside on the covered patio with a beautiful view of the ocean and crashing waves and pool. Our server, Brandon, was happy to provide very helpful descriptions of the many dishes we inquired about. Shishito peppers and Ishi Yaki Buri Bop (similar to a bi bim bop bowl but with yellow tail prepared table side) we’re excellent. I would definitely order both of these dishes again.
Excellent as always
Everything was well worth the price. Try something new! Try sushi you’ve never tried before! Best tuna, whitefish and Wagyu we have ever had. A dinner we will never forget. The blackened cod was unlike any cod we have ever had. Their house made “soy sauce” had my husband drinking it out of the porcelain dish.
Great food and it is was nice having dinner and watching the sunset.
AMAZING! We had the beef carpaccio, sticky ribs, chef’s sushi combination, mushrooms, and vegetables. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! The presentation and service were great. Highly recommend coming to dinner right before the sunset so that you can enjoy your dinner with an outstanding view.
It was amazing! Food was good, sake was yummy, & their Mori-Tini was so good (if you’re into martinis and sake). The only thing that bummed me out was the fact that the original sake I had ordered was not available, so I had to change my choice. We had 3 apps - wagyu beef carpaccio, tuna tacos, & sticky ribs. All 3 amazing. For dinner we had the chef sushi which came with a variety of nigiri & two sushi rolls.
Fantastic sushi and experience. Wait staff was very knowledgeable for food and drink recommendations. Would love to go back
Priced for big ticket retail, unfortunately failed to deliver. Sushi good but nothing special. Massive Sake library needs to be restocked. Atmosphere for lunch undercut by location next to pool.
Our favorite restaurant on the island. Quality is consistent. 5 Star every single time!
We like this restaurant and will come back. Pluses are the quality of the food - especially the appetizers, salads, rock shrimp, etc. Portions, freshness and presentation of the appetizers are all excellent. The sushi/sashimi is good but portions of fish are laughably small for the money - 1/2 to 1/3 the size of good quality sashimi you might get elsewhere. The ambience is wonderful, but it's a little bit of a schlep to get down to the pool deck where the restaurant is, especially if it is raining... Service is always good and if you order a variety of apps, you might not even need the entrees and you will not leave hungry or unhappy!
The service was fantastic. We tried everything the server recommended. The food was so good and the presentation of the food was great. I would highly recommend this place. We went to Japan a couple years ago and this restaurant was very authentic. 5 stars!!
We were there for lunch, everything was delicious! We’ll be back for dinner!
When we checked in for our reservation, we were told we needed a neg. Covid test or vax card - before the latest Maui restrictions had even taken effect. The restaurant never notified us in advance of the requirement. Very unprofessional to spring this on guests who are paying top dollar with no warning. After we were seated, we waited for 10 minutes before we were greeted. We sat there with no waters and no menu and no QR code for a digital menu, either. Very disappointed in the quality of service, particularly at that price point. Won’t go back.
Excellent vibe, great service, love the food too!
Every dining experience at Morimoto - Maui is memorable. The food, ambiance and service are always outstanding. The fish carpaccio was the favorite this last visit, ONO! Ask for server Terry. He’ll take good care of you.
Very nice ambiance, beach view, food took a little long to come out otherwise it was great
The fish is very good. Sadly, we ordered a large sushi combination and they put wasabi on EVERY SINGLE PIECE; on the rice so it was hard to get the flavor off an otherwise nice piece of fish.
Some of the best sushi I’ve had. The wait staff were kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Food is reasonably priced for its quality. The view from the patio is breathtaking, overlooking the ocean and swaying palm trees. If you’re looking for date night with some incredible sushi this is the place for you.
Very good service a little disappointed in the fish didn’t taste fresh.
Wonderful evening in every way! Beautiful dinner by the ocean with views , wonderful service and hospitality and absolutely fabulous food .
Superb as always. Buri Bop is the greatest dish one can try. Sashimi outstanding. Service top notch and friendly. (thanks Nick!) My only complaint is the wine list is way overpriced. 3 to 4 times retail. They should add a few more reasonably priced selections.
Junmai Dai-ginjo sake is a must have. Also had delicious hamachi, chu-toro and uni sushi with the the soft shell crab roll and spicy yellowtail roll. Sushi is up there with some of the best.
If you’re aiming for an entree than the ishi yaki buri bop is also a treat.
Finish with dessert that has chocolate, lilikoi, and bananas. While this was good, if you don’t have a sweet tooth pass on the sweets for a taste of the a-5 wagyu.
You probabaly can’t go wrong with any of the sushi or entrees.
Emmy favorite is the local green salad.
My only complaint this time around is the sushi rice on my roll was not as nice as the previous times. The servers are always joyful. The pork chop was over cooked and not moist as before either
We’re visiting on our honeymoon. While the service was phenomenal (Spencer was lovely), we both immediately got sick after the dining experience. It seems the Uni was bad. An unfortunate experience on the first day of our honeymoon.
Hostesses, server Spencer and overall experience were excellent. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday. Would highly recommend for ambience and delicious food.
Lovely spot to enjoy the sunset with excellent Japanese cuisine. The best sushi we have had on Maui. We thoroughly enjoyed the shared sushi platter for two. If you like watching a luau, come Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday. If not, avoid those days. Either way, we prefer the outside tables, but they can be difficult to come by as they aren't guaranteed.
The service we received from our server was outstanding, and the sushi was delicious.
Excellent meal - outdoor dining. Couples and families for 2:15 meal.
Menu is limited. Pork chop was great. Sushi was okay. Rolls are not very innovative. Also, now required a vaccine card to eat. It was fine with us as we had ours on our phone but many people that had reservations did not have it with them and were turned away.
Like every restaurant , service staff is overwhelmed but trying hard to handle the crowd.
Food was incredible. Ask about the crab Bao buns that are not on the menu
The food we had for lunch was delicious! My husband and I shared a hot appetizer called rock shrimp tempura with spicy kochujan sauce and wasaba aioli sauce that brought great delight to our tastebuds. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his entree called ishi yaki buri bop with rice and fish that was partly fried at the table. My entree, angry chicken with roasted peppers, was very good but a little salty and some of the roasted peppers were burnt. For dessert, we had a tasty butterscotch ice cream. Our server was okay but could have been better. We could not find him when needed and had to ask another waiter for silverware since there were only chopsticks at the table. He also did not tell us about extra dessert options not listed that we overheard another waiter tell his patrons about. Overall, I would highly recommend.
We booked several months in advance during the sunset window to allow for the best opportunity of a good view. When we arrived, we were stuck in a corner inside with a view that was roughly 80% obscured by the building. We asked if we could sit outside at the empty table next to us with a perfect view, but the manager said she was instructed to save this table for a special guest. She failed to attempt anything that resembled an alternative solution. When we were met by the server he did not discuss anything about the menu - no suggestions, no highlights, nothing - just a simple "do you know what you want?". Even when explicitly asked, the only response was "it depends". Our first round of drinks took over 20 minutes and only arrived after we asked where they were. For our meal we selected the sushi for two and was yet again disappointed. We've had significantly better sushi from the many hole-in-the-wall spots around our home in NYC. Although the price point isn't outrageous, it was hard to justify given disappointments at every turn. We were eagerly awaiting this meal for months, but now am reluctant to try Morimoto in NYC. It felt as though they relied far too heavily on the name alone and let all standards go by the wayside. The food at any of the other Andaz restaurants was outstanding, even when ordering poolside.
Exceptional Food and the staff was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable about the menu.
The food was over seasoned.
