Excellent location and service. Food was good and very authentic. We tried oysters, Uni, Japanese snapper sushi, yellow tail bop, soft shell crab roll and all was very good. They looked after us well and when a squall suddenly hit they closed the screens to protect us and moved our table out of the wind. They continued to serve freshly cooked doughnuts for dessert and then ordered a golf cart to take us back to our car because the rain was so heavy at this stage. Our server was particularly good as he was knowledgeable and knew how to make people happy and trained another guy at the same time.
My new favorite restaurant on Maui! We tried about 6 different appetizers and they were all to die for. But by far our favorite was the sticky ribs, they were so addictive we had a second order.
Nothing special about the food at the Morimoto Maui vs Napa. Same food with a better view.
Food isn’t good but service is amazing. I think it is very overrated.
One of my all time favorite places to dine. Not only is the venue spectacular, the quality of food and service is as well. Morimoto’s is a treat. The food fresh and second to none. Don’t miss the Morimoto sake and the pork belly is to die for!
No ambience, service was adequate but resistant when a request for Vegan options/variations was made. Menu
Morimoto is a flipping genius. The tartar (either toro or hamachi) is a must have. We had the best server, she was so darn nice and attentive. This was our second time at Morimoto Maui and it never disappoints.
This visit was our first visit in Maui and fourth Morimoto location overall and it seems to get better each time. The food is amazing and the view is out of this world. Sushi doesn’t get any better than this
Morimoto restaurant in Wailea is a great place for a light dinner! The thing you absolutely have to try after your meal are their made ready donuts....they are absolutely phenomenal.
Great service and the food is delicious. The nigiri/sashimi is only one piece so a bit pricey but still delicious. The bop is a must try!
Spicy Tobin Taki is my favourite dish here. We have dined here twice in Maui and twice in Napa. Can't go wrong. We also ordered the duck ramen and the spicy Salmon roll. Orde the Soba or Kirin beers!!
Perhaps our expectations were too high, it just didnt flow well. The food was good but not exceptional. The service was good but somewhat felt a little condescending. The atmosphere was gorgeous. I would give it another shot though. Maybe it was just an off day.
we tried sashimi, edamame, tofu soup, a rice bowl and the tortilla pie. everything was exceptional especially the pie! the waiter recommended a cold sake for me and it was very nice. we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful ambiance by the sheik pool at the Andaz. we had a 6:30 pm reservation and got the last table outdoors. the view of the sunset was the best of all our sunset photos. it was hopping by the time we left at 8 pm. valet was included. it was a very memorable evening!
We are sushi lovers. The large platter of sushi we ordered was warm, fishy and rice was loose. Impossible to pick up the rolls with chopsticks. We've been here many times and was VERY disappointed. The manager proceeded to state that it tasted just fine which was the tip of the iceberg. I'm no complainer but would NEVER recommend. I was sick all night after I had 3 pieces. Such a bummer.
Absolutely the best Sushi I have ever had. Service was outstanding.
We preferred the actual dishes as we found the sushi selections simply mediocre for such an acclaimed chef. Too many good food options to return here.
Excellent good, beautiful Setting
Overrated, overpriced. If you’re going to call your place a sushi restaurant, at least have fancy rolls. Mahalo
Honeymoon. Went for lunch. Had the the tuna tacos, rock shrimp and sushi rolls were amazing. Had the lobster roll...it was ok but seemed a little out of place especially with French fries as a side? Ambience was beautiful-we were seated outside. Servers were very attentive and kind. Overall we loved the restaurant- also have been in Oahu and it is a very consistent delivery. We will be back!!
Food was good but the place was so loud (we sat inside) we did not enjoy the experience. We felt we were at a local bar, not a restaurant.
Estuvo muy bien el servicio. El mozo nos explico la carta ya que muchos platos son elaborados.
Food terrible. Very rich and fish not fresh. Service was ok.
Morimoto sashimi well plated and delicious. Crispy whole fish was as good. Had the flight of sakes. The differences were well explained by the server. Again delicious. Desert donuts to die for.
Bartender was great! Food and service not so great
Outstanding service, great food and surprising desserts.
Great food and ambiance
Our server Antonio and his team made our dining experience completely unforgettable. He talked me and wife my wife into letting him choose our courses and what a home run.
would be here everyday for lunch if it wasn't so pricey!!!!
Easiest one of the best meals we’ve had in Hawaii or the mainland. Very creative food with innovative presentation. The short rib porridge was the best thing ever tasted!
Our waiter was more attentive to his “friends “ and only came to our table 3 times. Obviously they were more important than the rest of his tables. After recommending the fresh fish that was extremely disappointing he never came to see how it was. Obviously this restaurant is focused on sushi and we don’t eat that so can’t comment on it.
It was the worst representation of Japanese food beyond sushi I have ever experienced. Won’t be returning.
It was okay...but just okay. And with the hype that comes with Morimoto, I’d say that’s disappointing.
Great food. Great service. Exactly what you’d expect from the original Iron Chef.
We were seated next to a loud talker . I could hardly hear my husband over her. There were also children screaming and splashing in the pool.. For the price,it was a terrible dining experience!.Why would you put a five-star restaurant next to a kids swimming pool?
Despite having a reservation, we had to end up sitting at the bar due to the wait.
The indoor seating is cafeteria like, very loud, bright and not something you expect for a beach location.
Food was mediocre, and the overall ambiance is the opposite of the really nice Honolulu location we went to last year.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
We have been to Morimoto's in Napa Valley (awesome), and this one does not compare.
We first ordered Morimoto's sashimi, and the menu lists what fish is served. So, you assume the sashimi will be served like in any other Japanese restaurant. A little while later a server brought a plate with squares of little fish pieces stacked on top of each other. She did not say this was the sashimi, and we just assumed it was a small starter from the restaurant. We learned about 30 minutes after we were served this dish that it was the sashimi we expected. This dish did not meet expectations at all.
We had also ordered our entrees and edamame. The service all night was very slow. The edamame and drinks could take 15 + minutues before they were served. Our entrees were served about 50+ minutes after we ordered them. One of the dishes as sushi, and it did not include all that was ordered.
We were so unhappy with the service, we could not enjoy the meal. The table next door had a similar experience. The manager, Simmi, did visit with us. He asked if we would come back, and they would give us the real Morimoto experience. He took a couple of items off of the bill including the sashimi, but not much else, and then, he assumed we would come back 4 days later to spend another enormous amount.
No thank you.
Sashimi fresh but I'm not sure its worth the price. other food was average
This location does not compare to Morimoto's Napa. the server did not seem happy to be at work; did not seem excited about the food, barely smiled. the hostess was very sweet.
I sent the below response to the restaurant on 2/15/20 and received no response.
When we check in we were told the wait would be just a few minutes. The wait for our table despite our reservations was almost 30 minutes and during that time while waiting outside the hostess did not check in or update us. Throughout the entire dining experience our server was not very attentive. It was a long wait even after we were seated before he even greeted us and took our drink order. When the starters arrived there was one of them that we ordered that we did not care for. Neither the server or his assistant asked how we were enjoying them. Then the food runner came and brought our main dinner courses and we had them take away the starter. Despite only have one of the six gyoza they took it away and did not ask for our feedback on the uneaten dish nor did the server ask us. While during our meal I had finished my drink and was not offered a second beverage for an extended amount of time. I eventually caught the glance of my server and placed a second drink order. It wasn't until our main food order came that our server realized I still hadn't got my second drink and he then went to put in the order for it. It clearly had been forgotten to be placed and it arrived half way through the main courses.
Overall the food was excellent with the exception of the one starter. Morimoto has some of the best sushi we've had on island and we love the sticky ribs. The service however really left something to be desired. I expect when I'm going to pay nearly $300 for a meal that it is going to have a five star level of customer service. This dinner did not have that level of customer service and really left my disappointed. Spending so much for a nice meal is something we save for special occasions and the service we received was not up to our expectations. This experience has left us wanting to choose a different restaurant for our next celebration.
Food is always excellent! Kitchen and wait staff exceptional! I’m tired of always having to argue though for a nice table. Their excuses are endless, then they can be rude! One junior manager in particular! They need a strong shuffle at the front of house. Scott was really kind a took a nice photo which we appreciated. :)
