The food quality was good but well below expectation for price and rating. Sansei Sushi was much better for less cost. Hostess and water person service was excellent. Waiter was slow, inattentive and lacked any form of engagement.
Overall, very disappointed with the service, high price, small quantity and only average quality. I won’t go back and won’t recommend the restaurant.
Food was really salty and sashimi was not fresh. I don't recommend any raw fish menu. The smell of sashimi was really unpleasant
Surprisingly poor. My belly has now stopped hurting but my soul never will. Resort feeding station nothing more.
Morimoto’s is a wonderful restaurant serving Japanese fusion food. The service was very good, but it is a little pricey.
Our experience nearly 4 years ago was amazing, but tonight was a disaster. The server was absent for most of the evening, and made repeated mistakes. Our order was wrong. Food was delivered at inconsistent intervals - my wife’s appetizer salad arrived 20 minutes ahead of my soup. One of our side dishes was missed, and we couldn’t get a second round of drinks. When the highlight of your evening is the guy who continually refills your water - I think things are bad.
A5 wagyu was amazing!
This restaurant has food that is worthy of its prices! But that’s about it.. The restaurant is very noisy, crowded , and the service was good at best! We needed to wait on our water glass to be filled several times. If you are looking for a special evening while in Maui- I’d suggest something else.
Overall a disappointment. We were here previously and had excellent meals. My wife is celiac and we found them unwilling to try to help with any gluten free options. Once we did settle on a meal it was quite disappointing. Fairly typical of the celebrity restaurants it seems.
4th time eating here over the last 2 visits to Wailea. Always exceptional food and service. Best restaurant in Wailea in our opinion.
Our expectations were high for a Morimoto restaurant in Maui and since this was a special occasion, a birthday, we ordered the Omakase ten course tasting menu for the 6 in our party.
The first five dishes were outstanding but the next three disappointed. The promised Wagyu A5 beef was NOT. Most of us had beef that was chewy and one of us had gristle. There was no marbling of fat that we would have expected having been shown the Wagyu in advance. The dish came as surf and turn with Chilean sea bass, which was cold on several of the plates.
Our head server was inattentive through the dinner, starting with the drink orders when she took orders for half of our party and served those drinks without taking orders for the rest of the group. it was only when we asked another staff person to send her back that the rest of the drink orders were taken.
On the other hand, the food runners get top marks for their attention and service.
There were very long lags between some dishes, even as plates from the current dish were being whisked away before we were finished eating.
At the outset we were asked about allergies, and noted an allergy to ginger for one person. The first dish served to all members of the party included ginger. Only when we raised the issue did we get an apology, and attention to the allergy through the balance of the meal.
At $200 per person for the ten course tasting menu, we expected a lot better service and consistent quality across all the dishes.
Good for but unable to enjoy cause the place was very very loud/ noisy!
Entree and dessert were amazing. Prices are sky high.
The service was horrendous. They clearly bank on the restaurant/chefs reputation and their location. The service charge was included in our bill so the waiter clearly did not care at all about our experience. The food was not coursed out properly, the waiter spilled our expensive drinks and did not offer to replace them, he forgot some of our food and didn’t offer to bring it to us after the fact, the food took so long between courses that one of the people in our party had to leave before the entree came out, and the list goes on. The worst part? The waiter could care less. When you are in Maui you are paying for a premium dining experience and this was not it. No one even cared if the food was good or not because our experience of it was terrible. I’ve been to Morimoto many times in Maui and in other cities, but I will never go back again.
We have dined here on 3 occasions while in Wailea. Always a spectacular meal and great service.
Very disappointed in the whole experience. Would not recommend this to anyone. We expected something more creative and original from Morimoto.
Beef carpaccio is a must! Most amazing meal you can get. We travel the world and this restaurant is key to our returning to Andaz Maui.
Wonderful experience from start to finish. Service was absolutely top notch. We enjoyed the 9-course Chef's tasting menu that's not on the menu. Out. Of. This. World. Our table had a perfect view of the kitchen and if you ever want to see perfection-in-action, that's the view you'll get here. Chef Morimoto has a true gem here in Maui. Highly recommend.
Upscale sushi with a huge menu and an even bigger saki menu (with no prices). Pull out your wallet for this one folks. We were served some sushi we did not order (I think they thought we wouldn’t notice). We noticed. Leaves a bad taste in our mouth for an otherwise really pricey sushi venue with buzz at the Andaz on Maui (Wailea).
It's not just FOOD, it's an ART of FOOD. It's an experience I hope everyone can have at least once in lifetime. I am lucky to have it twice already!!
Great staff, knowledgeable and as passionate as the food and Amazing Sake
It's a Memory for Lifetime. Thank you Morimoto !!
This was the most disappointing meal and restaurant experience of our 10 day stay in Wailea. The table we received was in a crowded interior room (not on the patio) and the food was not at all what we expected for such a well recognized chef's restaurant. My wife was not able to eat the chicken dish and my duck dish was tasteless. The waiter was pleasant but not very good at advising us on our food selection. I was prepared to pay the high prices, and did, but the price value is definitely not there.
Recommend ordering anything with fish. They do very well with sashimi and fish. Duck and chicken not so good. Very tough. Service was excellent.
Loved it & such a beautiful location at the Andaz Resort. We sat at the sushi bar and watched the chefs at work, they are artists! We enjoyed tempura, wagyu beef & maki rolls, delicious as always. This is the third Morimoto restaurant we have visited & we will definitely be back!
Somewhat a disappointing experience. They attempted to sit us in a well lit up empty indoor dining room instead of a an intimate busy outdoor patio even though we made reservations months in advance and made a note that it was for a date night.
We had the upgraded Omakase including the A-5 Wagyu. This was an AMAZING meal. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The only negative to the evening was the seating / layout. The restaurant is very noisy and tables too close together. We would have preferred a more private setting to enjoy our incredible meal in. It was hard to have a conversation due to the noise and the next table 6 inches away.
Did the 7 course tasting menu. Awesome!
The food was fantastic and the plates came out looking very nice. The chef puts much care into making sure every thing tastes great and the dishes had great detailed presentation.
The restaurant itself is quite small, tables are close together and the noise level was high.
For the most part, I think the servers did their best with the crowded space but it often took awhile to get a waiters attention.
All in all, a good dining experience.
The food was just OK. The price was very expensive. Overall value was not what we expected.
Food was perfect - ate so much too much! Not our first Morimoto but definitely our current favorite!
Our favourite restaurant on Maui. We always get the front outside table which truly makes the evening. Super Food. Great music and oh -those donuts !!!! Yum. Sitting outside is a must.... we had a fantastic server this visit
There was too much show and not enough substance to the food served at this restaurant. The fish dishes, since this is Hawaii, were especially disappointing.
It is disappointing for a restaurant with Morimoto's name behind it. Expensive and bland. The recommended Tempura rock Shrimp are more tempura than shrimp and are served with a side of ranch... There are better, much better Sushi places on the Island. Stay away
Always unique flavours Great variety of foods tastes and textures. 3rd time here and vow to return when back in Maui. Expen$ive but what isn’t here.
Although the food is tasty and well presented it is ridiculous expensive even for Maui. Compared to other hotel restaurants in Wailea you getting more bang for your bucks elsewhere. We had the tasting menu, 200 US dollar each plus cocktails, sake and tips you easily end up with 600 dollars plus for two.
This is definitely a special occasion dining. At least for us. The prices are rather high but not as bad as some of the other restaurants on the island.
I would recommend the famous tuna toro sashimi and rock shrimp appetizers. We also ordered the hamachi sashimi which was also delicious.
For entrees, we ordered the fried branzino with spicy tofu sauce and the fish with coconut curry. My hubby didn’t care for the fish with coconut curry. The branzino was ok, nothing spectacular. I would recommend the sushi or sashimi.
Food was well presented and the atmosphere was nice & romantic- beach view. We ordered the donuts and they were absolutely light and sauces that came with them were yummy! We ordered cold sake, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and one dessert- our tab was $220. Quite pricey.
Staycation at Andaz for my birthday. 3rd time here in 3 months. Consistent service (Yuko and friendly Spencer) and high level food quality. After recent trips to Tokyo, our experience at Morimoto stands up. Favorites: Duck meatball soup; Morimoto sashimi with 5 sauces; Hamachi tacos; Pork Gyoza (6) with bacon foam; Watermelon Gazpacho with Yuzu sorbet fabulous. Too full for dessert, but they brought a lovely complimentary lilikoi sorbet with birthday candle.
Amazing food and service.
We recently stayed at the Andaz Maui for our honeymoon. We were hesitant to make dining arrangements due to my
Husbands dietary needs, however the chef was able to pre arrange a meal for him fit to his needs. This was outstanding and very much appreciated! He would have eaten there every night! Some of the best dining views! Very romantic atmosphere and the sushi was wonderful for me! Definitely suggest this restaurant to anyone staying at the Andaz or surrounding area.
Outstanding sushi platter. Aged sake flight was a treat
