A group of 4, and had the Omakase and it was a wonderful experience. Two of us did the wine pairing with one doing the saki pairing. Service was excellent.
Enjoy our time at Morimoto Maui from start to finish
Not worth the money. Bland and subpar food. Mahi entree was good, but everything else was missable. Very few vegetarian friendly options.
We were in Maui for 16 days and dined at Morimoto 3 times including my 68th birthday. I attempted to order the whole crispy fish each time and was told each time it was unavailable. Very disappointing.
Service is a little haphazard and the environment is noisy. Dodd is FABULOUS!
Great service and dining. Very expensive but somehow felt worth it.
A beautiful setting for an elegant but casual dinner. The Morimoto name means the dishes will have a certain creativity, leaning toward an Asian style. Presentiand flavor were great. The only small drawback is the cost but there isn't much you can do when dining in Maui. No surprises.
Perfect! The Ichi Yalu Buri Bop is amazing!
Great dining experience! The hostess was very accommodating and helped us find a table suitable for our 4 month old. Petra was our server, very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Food was delicious! Had hamachi tacos, sticky ribs, pork chop and sushi platter. Everything was spot on!
Server was very knowledgeable
Been here many times, never disappoints
Was ok. Felt nothing was all that special. Prices are special!
Stunning food. Impeccable service. Very pricy. Not very intimate.
Food is excellent. If you trust your server have them pick out a bunch of sharable dishes for your table. All their food is great so it’s fun to try pieces that hit what you are looking for
We enjoyed an incredible journey with our dinner, a rollercoaster ride with every delicious bite. Each dish in the chef's choice selections had depth and tastes that complimented the next - a symphony that was enjoyed throughout the entire meal. However, the experience would not have been the same without the attention to detail and service from Joseph and the rest of the staff - they made the night even more special. Thank you all for making it a night to remember.
Manager has zero customer service skills. Ruined our experience.
Go for the sushi, the rest is absolutely ridiculous ) Sushi masters and their creations are the only things you can stand this noisy too packed place.
Fantastic ! Must go ! Would recommend to anyone in Maui.
We had such a good time and great meal. The Chefs choice was very good and just the right amount.
Service was impeccable. Food was hit and miss. Appetizers were delicious. Beef carpaccio melted in your mouth and the pork belly with rice congee was tender and savory. Entrees were less successful. Don't believe them when they say to undercook the filet because it will cook on the hot plate. And the ishi yaki buri bop was too fishy for my taste. The dessert doughnuts were a highlight. They have plenty of other options we didn't try so give it a shot.
Super disappointing second visit on 1/8. 45 minute wait between appetizers and meal service. Server stopped back only once after taking order. Runners bring the food and didn’t explain what was on the large tray of sushi they brought. Would have been nice if we could have found the server to ask her. When the manager heard about our food delay he came over and explained that it was caused by the fact that they were serving a party of 16 outside. Nice to know that their meal was more important than ours. We were speechless. The Manager later explained that they weren’t prioritizing the other party, but that it put the kitchen far behind. It happens, but really no acceptable excuse at these super high beachfront prices. Only had an apology after expressing disappointment and it was more of an explanation than an apology. Lots of nice sushi choices in Wailea. I will go elsewhere next time.
Great food and service. Our omakase was one of the best e we ever had.
We highly recommend the place in spite of the high price.
We celebrated our Dad’s 70th birthday at Morimoto. Both he and our family enjoyed every minute of the experience. Aside from the delectable food, the service was fantastic! Wonderful experience and would definitely recommend a visit to Morimoto while in Maui.
Excellent food and atmosphere!!!
Food was outstanding and Sarah was great!
Morimoto’s never disappoints. Food is so balanced and flavourful. A “ party” in your mouth. We especially want to give a shout out of appreciation for allowing customers to bring their own bottle ( corkage applied). The wait staff are knowledgeable and add to the dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We were very disappointed. We don’t mind paying high prices if you get good food, however the food was truly mediocre. Everything we ordered with raw fish was VERY fishy tasting, not in a good way. Their signature appetizer, the sushi and the yellowtail main dish were really really fishy, honestly I couldn’t really eat it.
Presentation of every dish was really beautiful.
The cooked meals were just ok, not very flavorful. We were really disappointed and for a very expensive meal I don’t recommend it.
We were looking forward to a great dinner and it was truly fair food. Would never go back
We were there for a late lunch and were seated promptly. The service was attentive but not hovering. The recommendations were good and the dishes arrived in an appropriate amount of time. The taco appetizers were tasty, the duck ramen was very good as were the rolls. Both desserts were very creative with the “chocolate cake”
being a slight favourite over the donuts. We will return to try other menu choices!
We were at Morimoto in Waikiki about 5 yrs ago and I remember the experience was great hence my return during our stay in Maui this time.
We had the omakasen which was $150 USD per person and the meal was quite disappointing. The flavour and presentation of the food was not as delicate as expected. I feel like it was just an ordinary Japanese dinner but not for the price that I paid. The dishes were a bit untidy and flavouring was only so so. Nothing spectacular.
I don’t think I will return to this restaurant nor recommend others to try. In my opinion, the restaurant went down hill since the last I visited.
It’s been 5 years since we’ve been here last and boy did it not disappoint! Food was incredible. Taste and presentation was amazing and who can complain about the view of a great Hawaiian sunset! Will definitely not be waiting 5 years to go back! Highly recommend.
New Years Eve was a huge bust! $200/pp for a price fix inedible meal was beyond disappointing.
We have been here many times before but this time takes the cake of terrible service - a manager that has no business handling this level of clientele - and this time the food was beyond impossible to stomach,
Sad, just sad. The TORO starter was inedible, and that coupled with for bad service sealed the deal.
Up until this past month, especially until this past week, Morimoto has been a favorite restaurant on Maui. With the holidays, the customers service and food quality fell off precipitously. Almost 2 months ago, I booked reservations for myself and my family for New Year’s Eve. When we arrived at the restaurant and were seated at our table, we discovered that Morimoto was only offering a $200 per person prix fixe menu. This limited and expensive menu was not disclosed when we booked our reservation on Open Tabke nor during the multiple phone calls I had with the restaurant, particularly with the restaurant calling to confirm our reservation. This cost did not include any New Year’s eve party activities, party favors, or other accoutrements. My family and I were not excited about any of the items on the menu, and considering that almost every other restaurant in town was fully committed for New Year’s eve, we had very few options. I asked to speak with the restaurant manager to find out how they could accommodate us, And from the outside, general manager Darren was hostile, argumentative, and condescending. I explain to Darren I have a home on the island and then we have been regular guests at the restaurant, and his attitude made it very clear that he did not want us coming back to the restaurant. I was so startled and appalled by his lack of professionalism and lack of training that I questioned whether or not he really was a manager. Restaurants like Morimoto are expensive and survive based largely on good food and good service, and our experience of our last several visits has been neither include nor good service. Clearly, management at this restaurant embodies a culture of contempt for customers, and this atmosphere becomes prevalent in most of the staff. We left Morimoto hungry and very disappointed with our experience. I would strongly discourage other customers from
Some fun/unique presentations of food. Outstanding chirashi. Great cocktails. Service generally attentive. Went for lunch 2 days in a row. Love this place.
Slow and not attentive service, has to ask for water refills; didn’t have napkins or soy sauce on the table.
Miso soup sour and cold. Everything else lukewarm.
Won’t be back.
Very good food. Average service. Lame poolside setting. Worth a visit but without a better setting, much better scenic view restaurants on the island with great food as well.
Beautiful setting and service is impeccable. We had sake, sushi, fresh oysters, the two types of buribop bowls and the donuts. Everything was delicious and presentation like artwork. Restaurant is beside the lower pool of the hotel and has views of ocean. 100% valet parking. Enter thry hotel, take a left in the lobby and take stairs down.
Morimoto's is on right at bottom of negative edge pool. Would definitely come back on our next trip to Maui.
Amazing food amazing staff... just the host NOT you can see she doesn’t like her job.
Amazing all around
I’ve been wanting to visit Morimoto for a long time and our 29th anniversary was a perfect occasion. There were four of us who enjoyed the taste of this great iron chefs culinary delights and they were all delights in every way.
Excellent dinner at Morimoto Maui! Everything was perfect from the view, the amazing food, and the service from our George Michael look alike waiter. We were really impressed by the entire experience and attention to detail and will definitely return the next time we come to Maui.
