Morgans Restaurant and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We really enjoyed our dinner. The atmosphere was casual, the views beautiful and our waiter was great. All the staff were pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious. I have been before and will go again. No loud music so very relaxing. Lots of separation between tables.
Given a table right next to noisy bar. Turns out our server was the bar server too. Ordered a glass of whit wine and perused menu. When server took our order we mentioned we were hungry. Ordered short ribs and cioppino. Was told the bread was being baked...we order a bottle of red wine. Bread never arrived...so we asked again. Dinner arrived reasonable time period. Then came the bread. Waited for wine while eating dinner...too long. Servers then disappeared. Cioppino was good, short ribs just re heated. When server finally returned we asked for bill right away...got pub service while trying to fine dine. Friday night...no manager...crazy
This is at a golf course in an upscale neighbourhood so there is a nice view of the course with no traffic noise and even some entertainment if there are people on the driving range ! Our fish was excellent with nice presentation and the portions were good sized. The dessert portions were too small to split but very tasty.
The food and service is always very good and there is a fair wine menu which is not overpriced. There was no music when we were there, which is a significant plus for many people who want to dine with friends and talk. Being forced to listen to someone else's choice of music blaring away making conversation difficult (if not impossible) is very unpleasant. Nice to know some finer restaurants in North America are finally cutting out the music....
We have dined here previously, mostly after golf. This time the service wasn't great - our server was good (we've had her before), but they didn't have enough staff on I guess so service was slow. There were 4 in our party, two had the halibut and chips - decidely good. One had the prime rib special and liked it. I had the prawn and crab pizza - I've had this before and really, really liked it. Since the last time I had this they've changed the crust (much more bready - too much so for my liking), so I was disappointed in this item. The wine list is good so that's a bonus. It was a beautiful Sunday night so it was busy inside and out. I'd recommend Morgans any summer afternoon...
Had ribs special tonight with my wife and they were excellent. They are slightly smaller than they used to be but leaner and much tastier. They jalapeño corn cake that comes with them is always a favourite of ours and we have been known to go home with an extra one from time to time:). I think Thursday along with Sunday when they do the prime rib as a special are two of our favourite meals here.
We have eaten regularly here for over 15 years. Never have we had such disinterested service and it was embarrassing because we had friends with . It took 25 minutes to have our order taken, almost 40 minutes for it to arrive and after I had to ask for the bill, it took over 15 minutes. The Brunch menu was supposed to be available until 1 pm as per their website but on this day they stopped it at noon so we could not enjoy that as planned. Too many other good places locally for us to go back.
I have been eating here for 6 years and always find the food excellent. I think it's because all the vegetables are freshly acquired, the herbs home grown and the fish and meat is always of a superior quality than the other local restaurants. The staff are always friendly and will make drinks that are not listed on the menu. The new $5 Sapporo deal on Tuesday and Wednesday are especially my favourite days to visit the club:)
Nice inside or out on a sunny day. Seafood salad was really good as lunch item. All four of the items picked were good. Service was at a good pace and we had no problem with any part of the meal. We have used this resturant a number of times in the last 3years and enjoyed each time.
we were a group of six for a casual get together. The service is always prompt and helpful. The meals of good but I have always loved the oven roasted chicken served with gnocchi best. It is a perfect blend of flavours with the wild mushroom. leak. bacon and marsala really making this a noteworthy item. Make sure you order it as you will not be disappointed.
It was a good thing we made reservations because we were called by the restaurant to tell us the menu was fixed for regular diners because of several Christmas parties in reserved rooms. We were happy with theirs elections on the regular menu and were looking forward to sampling things we hadn't previously eaten there. However their fixed menu was quite satisfactory--choices were well prepared, tasty, and filling. And they had some quiet areas for regular diners to enjoy their table time. Service did not suffer, either.
We actually go to Morgans now any time, not just after a round of golf. Food is very good - the crab and prawn pizza is to die for as too is the seafood gnocci. They have an excellent wine selection and the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Great place to hang out!
Overlooking the golf course, the atmosphere is casual but the food is as good as any fine dining restaurant. This is the second time we have been and again it did not disappoint. Service was excellent and prices reasonable. The house salad is outstanding with an unusual mix of pear and pecans in a light dressing. The seafood gnocchi was superb, fish and chips very good and the lamb burger full of flavour and juicy. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again soon.
I am new to the South Surrey area, and happened to stumble upon Morgan's.
I was surprised that a restaurant of this caliber was nestled into the heart of a suburban community.
Looking through the menus and wine lists, I found several of my favorite dishes, and some new wines that I have really wanted to try.
The view from the patio was amazing, and our server Ashley was outstanding. You could tell she really likes what she does, and she will be a major reason why we will be back.
Our food was unreal, and we got a chance to speak to one of the managers about the wine we had selected.
From start to finish, this place had us wow'd. We will be back for sure.
We ordered a meal from the before 6 pm menu I had the salmon it was great. There appeared to be no lobster sauce and potatoes were bland. My husband had the seafood tagliatelle which was very good and full of Flavour. Since there was two dining rooms for dinner why would they sit a family with two children in the same area as we were on the flipside why didn't they seat us in the other dining area. Which had a total of two sets of diners in it where ours seems very busy. We very seldom go out for dinner we left our three at home however we will come back again.
We booked it for a small wedding celebration for 9. I learnt afterwards that the bride's steak (expensive) was very poor quality, fatty and tough. She did not send it back since her culture is not to complain. I was upset to learn that afterwards. I think the bar area is OK for a pub lunch but the restaurant food is mixed - some good, some very good, some that needs improvement.
The manager was great in ensuring we had the birthday cake that had been ordered at the time we made reservations on open table. Somehow it got missed, but he went out of his way to pick one up for us. We greatly appreciated his extra effort at the last hour.
Our server was amazing. She handled a table of ten with great ease, ensuring we were all kept happy. I wish I could remember her name, but if she reads this she will know it is her.
The lunch menu hasn't changed much, if at all, over the years but they do have good selection of standard favourites such as Fish & Chips, Club House, steak sandwich. My favourite is the Shrimp Sandwich filled with large assortment of large pieces of shrimp and other fish. Food quality excellent, fabulous desserts and good wine list.
Had a very enjoyable birthday dinner at Morgan's. It was my first visit and was very pleased. The staff were great, the food was delicious and of course the venue is beautiful. I would highly recommend it to all diners who are looking for something special at affordable prices. The wine list is quite "pricey", but they do offer some less expensive choices.
My wife, son and daughter had made a 7:00 PM reservation and the table was waiting for us upon arrival. The waitress was very good and dealt with all issues regarding wine and food. Our food was good and each course brought out in a timely manner. Close to $300.00 which puts us in a range for other good options. We will be back to Morgan Creek in the future.
