Moreton Fig is currently open for Lunch and Dinner service Monday thru Friday.
Tables are too close together. Loud rumbling noise underneath the floor and vibration. Servers took too long to approach the table and take our order. Food is overpriced given taste/flavor. Only redeeming factor is it's close to Bovard Hall.
Main course rather sparse considering the price.
Not especially tasty, either; sorry.
Food and service were amazing!
No complaints about any aspect of the experience. Being able to enjoy conversation over lunch was great.
Loved it!! First time for dinner. Definitely going back!! Noise level great. Could actually have a conversation!!
Seasonal food, great service, nice ambiance, always a pleasant experience
We waited a long for our food to be served. Servers were nice. everything was nice and clean.
The meal and service was great, the only complaint I have is how long it took the deserts to be served.
Bread was great, service was okay, the time we had to wait to get our food (I know it's not the server) was ridiculously long. We almost missed our event. Food for the price was below par. We will not be attending this restaurant ever again and we'll pass the word on to other Trojan families. SO disappointed.
As usual, our meal was great. Our server was particularly fantastic.
Haven't been here in a while, even though I work at USC. This time, both the meal and the service were good, even though no one came to refill our drinks until I asked them to. That's the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five. Also, the value varies from entree to entree. I thought the value was good for what I ordered, but some of the other items are a bit pricey, especially for lunch.
I will return for lunch on December 5 and then I have planned my retirement party there. I recommend Moreton Fig to all!
Overall the experience is very good except that the waiter made an error in taking our food order which made our lunch time a bit longer. Thank you.
I usually have a good experience at Moreton Fig when I'm with a group or with supervisor, but today I was with a friend and the service seemed sub-par. Why would a person who doesn't appear to be wait staff (manager?) be bringing my food and my condiments to my table? My friend said her chicken sandwich was under-cooked which was another issue. It took a while for our server to engage us and it seems that Moreton Fig does not recognize parties of two as being as important as larger groups. I didn't feel like I received the service that I am accustomed to and I didn't enjoy the meal as much as I had hoped to.
Always a good time at Morten Fig. Staff is sweet and helpful always.
Lunch was great again and I will be returning 4 more times before the end of the calendar year. The Cuban sandwich was a big hit. The Garden burger crumbled and fell apart. There are better options for a meatless burger today and I recommend you study the matter and switch to a better product.
Fabulous food and service
Best open to all dining experience on USC's campus, other than the more restricted University Club. Creative menu and well-presented items. Limited wine list but nice options. Servers were great on our last 2 visits. Beautiful patio under the historic Moreton Fig trees. If you are on campus and want a cut above college cafeteria or fast food dining, this is the place.
Today I sat outside and started my experience with the Watermelon Lemonade. For my entree, I had the Lobster Tacos with the salsa mixture on the side. (next time I'll have them apply it as it was tasty). It was accompanied with a nice mixed green salad with lemon vinaigrette. Another amazing lunch Moreton Fig. You never disappoint.
As always, Morton Fig is my go-to lunch place for meetings with colleagues and/or friends.
Moreton Fig is my favorite restaurant. I just started my 38th year at USC, and Moreton Fig is where I am having all my Farewell lunches and dinners....I retire from teaching on December 5
Wife had the trout, I had the salmon, both were very good, would have them again. Service was attentive but not bothersome. Live ambiance music until 6 was fun, I wish we had come by a bit earlier.
The ambiance is very nice, the servers are all at the top of their game---very efficient and professional and also cordial. The lunch menu is eclectic and has something for every taste and appetite. Thankfully, the menu is not complicated and there were only two "specials" announced which was perfectly brief for a lunch date. Again, simplicity and efficiency are the key words here. In and out in one hour and satisfied with our experience made going back to work easier. Although the decibel level can be challenging, there is a surrounding elegance there that undeniably adds to dining pleasure.
Great patio dining and service. The best option at USC.
Finding parking was unusually complex compared to.other restaurants but considering is inside USC this place is great. Food was elaborated but simple and super tasty. Location and patio area were terrific.
This is the best restaurant to visit on the USC campus. I take Parents, new Faculty, and Guests exclusively to this location when they visit. I will return.
Super great place to eat when you are on campus. Great food with lots of food selections. Service is great as well as the layout of the restaurant.
Lovely lunch spot on the USC campus. Fresh food and friendly service make this a terrific option. A bit pricey for students alone, but perfect for when parents come to visit.
The outdoor patio is a lovely place to dine, and lunch was tasty. The salads were very fresh, and the burgers were delicious. Impressed at the service as we were on a tight schedule and had placed our order ahead of time--and they were very timely and made sure we were in and out in an hour!
Great lunch all around. Would come back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful location with dinner under a large tree. The food was good as was the service.
This restaurant is nice for on-campus special meals, but it's expensive ($16 appetizers?) and loud (too many hard surfaces reflecting sound). While expensive, the quality of the food is VERY good, and portions are reasonable for the price. Service can be spotty - - it can be hard to get your server's attention if you need a refill or want to order something extra. Still, it's convenient, more formal than other campus eateries, and nice enough to take your parents out for an upscale meal on-campus.
Our firt visit to Moreton Fig was a disappointment. It was a slow night, and the staff was not attentive. After about 15 mintes someone brought water and apologized for the wait, as did our waiter who arrived shortly thereafter. My wife and I both tried the chicken pasta and we were both disappointed. The chicken was mostly dark meat and the sauce had an out-of-the-can flavor. Once we had been served the entrees no one checked on us until I finally asked someone for the bill.
The idea of an upscale restaurant on the USC campus is a good one. We visit the campus for the excellent concerts at the Thornton School of Music, and would enjoy this restaurant more often if they could deal wth the food and service issues.
Beautiful outdoor setting under the giant Moreton Fig tree. great attentive service. the menu had a variety of choices and we enjoyed our salads and burgers.
Outstanding service during a difficult day with an overwhelming number of people without reservations being fairly abusive to staff. Good was wonderful. Wine recommendation was perfect. Love the butterscotch pot du creme!
Best food on campus. I would come again. Service was a little slow, but it was busy, so that's understandable.
We had a wonderful experience with our son dining there. the food was delicious, the ambiance was great and the service was fantastic. We would recommend this to all
Amazing that a place this high end is located right in the middle of a college campus. Other than the price, which tends to limit the clientele to faculty and alumni, this is as good a place as I have ever eaten.
Our party of four announced when we sat down at 6:15 that we had to get to a 7:30 show in the Bing. The waiter acknowledged this, said the other patrons were all going to the show, and took our order very fast. I saw him through the kitchen window for a long time reading something, and I could not get his attention. We finally had to send one of our party over to the front desk to ask for some attention. We did not get our dishes till 7:00 pm. We had to eat our dinner in 8 minutes, get the check, and rush to the theater. The two trout dishes were perfect, but the steak and lamb chop dishes, though nicely cooked, were both cold, and should have been brought out when they were ready, or at least kept warm waiting for the trout...
Other than that, we love the restaurant.
The food was delicious and the waiters were very attentive. It is pricey and since its on campus, if you are not there already, parking will be a problem. The farm to table option is attractive. If I am in the area and desire a fine dining experience without going downtown, I will definitely go there again.
