Morel Ratings and Reviews
I'm in Milwaukee often and have tried most notable restaurants here. Morel is the best meal I've had so far and I'm planning on becoming a regular here. I had the ham biscuit to start and the pork shoulder as a main. The ham biscuit was the best biscuit I've ever had. It also carried the best ham (non prosciutto style) I've ever had. The draught beer I ordered was amazing and complex. The server was attentive, kind, and passionate about the work Morel does. The pork shoulder was delicious. I could've used a bit more greens on the plate, but that's my only complaint. The pork shoulder came with a housemade sausage. This was another showstopper. I mentioned the glorious ham biscuit to every single person I came into contact with for two days following my meal. It's that good.
Nice. Business Casual. We went on a Saturday evening for our 6 p.m. reservation and you could have said at that time a quiet conversation but as the restaurant filled it was less so. May sound a bit odd but after eating at different restaurants in the area we greatly appreciated that Morel had their own parking. No driving around hunting for a space.
We moved here recently and it has been challenging finding a good restaurant. Morel is definitely a keeper and one will not hesitate coming back. :)
At Morel my fiance and I received the best treatment we have ever experienced in a dining area of any kind. I made a silly request that the greeter wish Erin a happy birthday, and the greeter, the bartender, the baker, and our server all did; they likewise offered us complementary champagne to celebrate.
Morel could easily be a snooty, highbrow place with all the snobbish rigidity that places serving high-quality food deserve to flaunt. But they didn't. Instead they maintained all of the quality and grace of a snooty restaurant, while also emanating a generous, human warmth that is usually only found in the humblest of country diners. I would recommend to anyone.
First time visit, excellent food and service. They got busy, full house, but service never slowed and food was timely. Been to many places in area and this is way better than others that are more expensive. The rabbit with pasta was fantastic and our table had it spiced up and it was seriously kickin. Overall great vibe not a huge place but we like that. Parking across the street was convenient. Go and have a great dinner, we will be back there definitely.
Morel was an excellent choice, and we brought new friends who hadn't tried the place before. My duck, although cooked past the medium rare I requested, was delicious and tender. The flat iron steak was a great choice. Two of us ordered lamb chops, and both were "blue" and not medium rare. Additionally, the lamb is a very small portion for the price IMO. My husband, who hates to make trouble, just ate his as is. My friend's husband sent them back, and it took quite a long time for his order to arrive. I think it would have been nice to offer him dessert. But overall, the food was excellent and we love the ambiance.
Exceptional service and food. Starters, a mushroom special, beet soup and pork belly were outstanding. Sausage included with the pork shoulder was a unique addition. Trout was prepared to perfection. Servers suggestions were very helpful. Excellent coffee to complete the meal.
Staff was Amazing and the food was delicious. Only critique is the portion size. We shared an app and all 3 had a main entree. No one left full I say either reduce the price so it is more like a small plate restaurant or increase portion size just a bit to be more filling.
When Morel first opened we had a meal there with friends on a Saturday night. It was so noisy that we could not talk with each other at all. Therefore, we did not return until this recent visit, hoping that a weekday would be quieter. The restaurant has also consistently been considered one of the best in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, we found Morel to be almost as noisy on a weekday than a Saturday, and that took away a lot of the pleasure from our visit. The food was good. In particular, I had an appetizer with flatbread and burrata which was excellent. Our friends enjoyed the grilled fresh peppers. My husband considered the duck confit he ordered excellent, but my friend and I had the rabbit ragout, and although it was good, we thought the ragout a bit sparse. Service was good. If we could have more relaxed conversation at Morel we might visit more often in the future.
Our meal at Morel was simply fantastic. The food was phenomenal, as was the service. My wife and I came across on the Lake Express from Michigan primarily to eat at this restaurant after reading great reviews. Morel simply excelled in every facet of our experience. They even brought out complimentary champagne for us after hearing that we had come all of the way across the lake to visit them. The food and service was fantastic. We couldn’t recommend Morel any more. We will be back.
We came here with friends from Phoenix who wanted to try farm to table food. Terrific experience from the moment we walked in. Ralph and the wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The food was excellent; the short ribs melted in my mouth! Dessert menu is to die for.
Excellent! I had the rabbit rague paired with Machete cabernet. My wife had trout, which was equally great. The only shortcoming was that our table for 2 was too long, my wife and I felt like we were sitting 4' far apart.
The host who seated us suggested the Machete as well as the carpaccio as an appetizer! The waitress seemed a little green, but nothing a few more shifts won't cure.
We'll definitely be back.
