Need to book at 4:15 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
I expected more from this restaurant but it was only okay. Server was lovely but food was nothing special. I’ll try it again though.
The blonde hostess is an absolute sweetheart. Great establishment.
Morandi never disappoints in terms of the quality of the food and service, which are uniformly and regularly excellent. The acoustics, however, are dreadful. Tables full of over-served patrons shrieking at the top of their lungs are common, and with the tightly crowded tables and all hard surfaces you cannot get away from the noise which is truly deafening. All Keith McNally restaurants are "energetic" in this way and that is part of their appeal, but this one is in desperate need of some serious acoustic treatment!
The space was pretty crammed and loud. We were seated by the bar which didn't help. The flatbread starter was very underwhelming (hardly any prosciutto or cheese and the bread was too crisped). The ravioli pasta was delicious and unique. The bottles of wine were overpriced. Given how many amazing Italian restaurants are in the West Village, I likely would try all of them before going back to Morandi.
Excellent service. Good food authentic old style Italian decor
Our reservation was early enough (6:30) on a Tuesday so it wasn't quite busy yet, but the place quickly filled out within the hour. Try the lemon chicken with burrata. The chicken comes with a side of arugula salad with a refreshing lemony vinaigrette, but the burrata adds another dimension that is well worth it. The service was also very attentive.
The Melanzane was industrial catering - clearly not cooked to order but batch cooked in a large oven tray and sliced up in advance. OK at half the price, but poor value at $150+ for two with just two courses and a carafe of house wine.
wonderful northern Itanisn food - each dish beautifully prepared
honestly, it was fine, the food was not stand-out so I think I'll not return.
The service was very quick and the food was delicious. Would very highly recommend!
It's too loud to have a decent conversation without yelling. It had an overall dirty appearance (floors, walls, etc.). Food was good but there are too many other options out there...
excellent unfussy kitchen, every dish shows care and great flavor. staff is first rate, and service excellent/
quite noisy , takes from the enjoyment of the meal, with conversatioin difficult.
Our waiter noticed that two in our party were very tall and saw that the table we were sat at didn’t quite work. He immediately offered to have us move to a larger table so we were more comfortable.
A Keith McNally classic. Delicious Pasta. Warm Hospitality from the moment you enter. Crowded and noisy but for good reason.
This is a great restaurant with good vibe and awesome food and wine. A great neighborhood gem!
As always, the food and wait staff at Morandi were wonderful. The dishes were savory and really well seasoned and the staff was gracious and hospitable from start to finish.
Prices are a bit pricey for the menu offered and the noise was much louder than we had remembered, making it hard to talk at the table.
Still, it’s a good neighborhood hang.
We love Morandi, and go often when we are in town. We have taken our granddaughter there since she was a baby, She is now 3.5 yrs old. On this last visit we did get the corner banquette table as requested, however the service was perfunctory at best. It was early lunchtime and the restaurant wasn't very full, so we were surprised. The serving staff seemed more interested in talking to each other than serving us. We waited close to 10 minutes for our glasses of wine....and probable the same for our order to be taken. The bread finally arrived. Then it was another couple of minutes for the butter to de delivered. We had to ask continually for the table to be reset...ie additional napkin for our granddaughter, teaspoon and tablespoon for her to eat her pasta.....And I had to actually get up from my seat and walk to the waiter to ask for the check.
No one was rude.....they just couldn't be bothered. We did notice that our waiter was involved in conversation with patrons at other tables, so it was clear that he was personable.....but to us, he left a lot to be desired.
Of course we'll be back as we love the food and ambience. This was an unfortunate 'one off'.
I have eaten here before a number of times over the past 9 years but decided last night to cross it off my list.
I have eaten here for dinners or brunches in the past.
Terrible experience for the following reasons:
$19 tiny focaccia starter - mediocre
$22 rabbit pasta - was awful it was running in water and not in a sauce - I sent it back and came back almost the same / No apology.
There were several pieces of bone in the rabbit ragout (I didn’t even bother telling them)
Service extremely slow and not very friendly.
Spend your money elsewhere.
We love Morandi thanks to it’s consistency in quality of food, service and atmosphere.
I would not recommend it for a holiday, but my previous non-holiday meals were fine and service was good.
Third time at this excellent restaurant and never fails to shine. Staff accommodated us even though there was an issue with the Opentable booking. This was on a busy New Years Eve evening service.

Well, one of our friends was quite difficult - and it was handled well. They were courteous and accommodating. The food was delicious as always. Wish the tables were bigger.
WV staple for great Italian food! European ambiance. Great for large parties. Always sit outside when seating is available!
Love going here. Always a fan favorite. Terrific service, wine, appetizers, entrees, ambiance, restrooms, LOCATION. Crazy this place has affordable prices
Morandi was fabulous. It was the first time any of us had been there, and it was Christmas Day no less. They were packed but they handled our reservation within 10 minutes of our time and the kitchen produced perfectly cooked apps, entrees and desserts. As an added bonus, the restaurant has a beautiful old world ambiance. We’ll be back!
Been more than half a dozen times to Morandi and it’s always been a pleasure. Christmas day service was lacking the usual care and personality. Food was
amazing. Sommelier had breath so bad that I could smell it across the table. Not a good quality of someone who’s job it is to taste and remark on wine. He rushed a suggestion to us, with no description at all. In any case the wine was good.
All in all, one of the reasons we love this restaurant is because of its (usually) great service. And by that I mean considerate, personable, knowledgeable and kind. I’m hoping Christmas Day was an exception.
I have been walking past this restaurant for years and finally needed to check it out. We did a 4:30 reservation Christmas Day. Got there bout 4:20 and was done eating by 5:10. All the food was very good but portions so small that we were done so fast and left and got pizza. Glass of mediocre wine was $18, beer $9. Our bill with tip was over $200. We did leave a good tip cause service was excellent. I recommend this place if you want tasty food but aren’t very hungry.
Terrific, friendly staff and delicious food!
We spent Christmas Eve there and it was wonderful.
The food and service was wonderful. I would try the risotto with short ribs and the fried olives stuffed with sausage.
Fabulous scallop ravioli! Warm, friendly atmosphere, nice selection of Italian wines, good location if you’re going to the Vanguard.
We had a lovely dinner! The decor was beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the food was amazing!
Good meal, but incredibly loud
Good food, warm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Roberto, the maitre d' does a wonderful job of seating you quickly and pleasing the crowds. It has always been a go-to place for me.
Good food, average service, tables too close together.
We had our Christmas date night here and were very happy! The service was great and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the whole fish. Especially if it is a Tuesday for the Branzino. It’s loud and close quarters but it still felt like we were able to talk without anyone too close for comfort.
Our favorite West Village restaurant. A home away from home. We were significantly delayed in our taxi from mid-town because of a car fire in the Tunnel. They could not have been nicer, holding our table, and even changing it to avoid drafty windows in the front. Billy was flexible and fabulous on seating, Naome was perfect as our server. Needless to say, we will return on our next trip to the City.
Great as usual...
Fine Italian restaurant
