It’s rare you’re able to get delicious food, perfect ambiance, and quality service. Morandi nailed it in all aspects. Looking forward to the next dinner. Excellent all around
not enough vegetarian food
Morandi is my go to place for great pasta and excellent Italian wine. It is the best for entertaining out of town visitors - good location, consistent food, nice ambience. The service was a little slow last visit, probably due to holiday staffing, but at least we had some delicious red to drink while waiting.
Always the best—and we’ve been eating here for years and years and years. As a foodie and 50+ year-old native NYer, I like to try every new restaurant and every cuisine...But I always come back to Morandi!
Portions of pasta small. Food was average. Very busy on Saturday night
The lemon spaghetti was amazing!!!
Food was great. Clearly a busy evening for Valentines Day. By maximizing the amount of guests they were serving (squeezing in additional two tops wherever possible), you could barely move or walk around! Service was also pretty slow. Luckily we weren’t in a rush, but it would have been more of an overall better experience and felt a bit more special without being so crammed into our seats.
Solid choice any night of the week with a bustling scene and delicious, classic food. Also excellent cocktails and wine selection.
Burrata was great as was the mafalde with sausage and broccoli rabe. It’s a fun neighborhood spot and the food came fast. Very good wine by the glass selection which is always a plus. Will be back!
Great food, atmosphere and service. What else is there!
Loved the restaurant, would definitely go back. Only problem was that even with a reservation on Open Table, they put us at a table that was too small for our party of 4 so we were a little crowded- maybe that’s just a NYC thing
At Morandi the food is always good, room buzzy and cheerful but the service can be little lackadaisical though.
Dependable, pleasant & excellent place for a good conversation or business meeting at lunch. Dinners can get loud, but it's an exuberant loud and not unpleasant, and the food is unsurprising but fresh & well prepared.
So loud!! Food was good but many large groups eating dinner and could barely hear my colleague speak.
Morandi is still one of the best restaurants in the NYC!!!!!!!The food is always amazing....Prices are good and
its always packed with a super crowd.....
Morandi always delivers great food, and the room is a winner. Love it. But the noise level at Morandi is beyond. I made the huge mistake of arranging a business dinner here, and we literally had to shout the entire evening. If you are looking to spend an evening with a lot of loud, screaming pretty young things, this is your place. Otherwise, save Morandi for lunch.
Always a culinary experience. We loved the lemon pasta, burrata, meatballs and foccia to start. As entrees the eggplant, grilled chicken and Bologna’s eggs were amazing.
Pleasant room and vibe, but got exceedingly loud after 800pm. Service was less than attentive as the room filled. Delicious Brussels sprouts salad. My fish was flavorful, but definitely overcooked. Gelato had a weird salty aftertaste--couldn't finish it. Might give them another try in warmer weather, at an outdoor table on a less crowded evening.
Loved the food! Standouts were the gnocchi with mushrooms and the lemon Parmesan pasta. Service was great, we were there early and it was cozy and quiet—could see it getting quite noisy as the room fills up... but I’d definitely go back and highly recommend.
We had a fantastic meal and the service was excellent, looking forward to our next visit.
Visited the restaurant with my daughter for a daddy daughter night before seeing Phantom. The food and atmosphere were phenomenal. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and service!
I expected more from this restaurant but it was only okay. Server was lovely but food was nothing special. I’ll try it again though.
The blonde hostess is an absolute sweetheart. Great establishment.
Morandi never disappoints in terms of the quality of the food and service, which are uniformly and regularly excellent. The acoustics, however, are dreadful. Tables full of over-served patrons shrieking at the top of their lungs are common, and with the tightly crowded tables and all hard surfaces you cannot get away from the noise which is truly deafening. All Keith McNally restaurants are "energetic" in this way and that is part of their appeal, but this one is in desperate need of some serious acoustic treatment!
The space was pretty crammed and loud. We were seated by the bar which didn't help. The flatbread starter was very underwhelming (hardly any prosciutto or cheese and the bread was too crisped). The ravioli pasta was delicious and unique. The bottles of wine were overpriced. Given how many amazing Italian restaurants are in the West Village, I likely would try all of them before going back to Morandi.
Excellent service. Good food authentic old style Italian decor
Our reservation was early enough (6:30) on a Tuesday so it wasn't quite busy yet, but the place quickly filled out within the hour. Try the lemon chicken with burrata. The chicken comes with a side of arugula salad with a refreshing lemony vinaigrette, but the burrata adds another dimension that is well worth it. The service was also very attentive.
The Melanzane was industrial catering - clearly not cooked to order but batch cooked in a large oven tray and sliced up in advance. OK at half the price, but poor value at $150+ for two with just two courses and a carafe of house wine.
wonderful northern Itanisn food - each dish beautifully prepared
honestly, it was fine, the food was not stand-out so I think I'll not return.
The service was very quick and the food was delicious. Would very highly recommend!
It's too loud to have a decent conversation without yelling. It had an overall dirty appearance (floors, walls, etc.). Food was good but there are too many other options out there...
excellent unfussy kitchen, every dish shows care and great flavor. staff is first rate, and service excellent/
quite noisy , takes from the enjoyment of the meal, with conversatioin difficult.
Our waiter noticed that two in our party were very tall and saw that the table we were sat at didn’t quite work. He immediately offered to have us move to a larger table so we were more comfortable.
A Keith McNally classic. Delicious Pasta. Warm Hospitality from the moment you enter. Crowded and noisy but for good reason.
This is a great restaurant with good vibe and awesome food and wine. A great neighborhood gem!
As always, the food and wait staff at Morandi were wonderful. The dishes were savory and really well seasoned and the staff was gracious and hospitable from start to finish.
Prices are a bit pricey for the menu offered and the noise was much louder than we had remembered, making it hard to talk at the table.
Still, it’s a good neighborhood hang.
We love Morandi, and go often when we are in town. We have taken our granddaughter there since she was a baby, She is now 3.5 yrs old. On this last visit we did get the corner banquette table as requested, however the service was perfunctory at best. It was early lunchtime and the restaurant wasn't very full, so we were surprised. The serving staff seemed more interested in talking to each other than serving us. We waited close to 10 minutes for our glasses of wine....and probable the same for our order to be taken. The bread finally arrived. Then it was another couple of minutes for the butter to de delivered. We had to ask continually for the table to be reset...ie additional napkin for our granddaughter, teaspoon and tablespoon for her to eat her pasta.....And I had to actually get up from my seat and walk to the waiter to ask for the check.
No one was rude.....they just couldn't be bothered. We did notice that our waiter was involved in conversation with patrons at other tables, so it was clear that he was personable.....but to us, he left a lot to be desired.
Of course we'll be back as we love the food and ambience. This was an unfortunate 'one off'.
I have eaten here before a number of times over the past 9 years but decided last night to cross it off my list.
I have eaten here for dinners or brunches in the past.
Terrible experience for the following reasons:
$19 tiny focaccia starter - mediocre
$22 rabbit pasta - was awful it was running in water and not in a sauce - I sent it back and came back almost the same / No apology.
There were several pieces of bone in the rabbit ragout (I didn’t even bother telling them)
Service extremely slow and not very friendly.
Spend your money elsewhere.
